Infinity General: Swiss Guard Edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where stealthy killers wear giant bulky... What? No, I'm pretty sure those are Swiss Guards. They're definitely Swiss Guards.

How does the Seraph's two little remotes work?

It's Auxbot lacks Super Jump to follow it about and I don't get how Remote Pilot works at all.

Read up on G: Synchronized on the wiki and you will know everything.

Auxbot just needs to stay within 8". It limits the movement of the main guy a bit but isn't that much of a problem.

Crabbot is a bit like a regular pilot. It can dismount at any time, but while it's out the TAG can't do anything until it comes back.
If the crab gets immobilized, isolated or put into null the TAG can start working again but it has to pass a reset roll. If the TAG dies while Crabbot is deployed, the little guy still survives but does not provide an order.
It's pretty weird how regular pilots immediately drop dead when their TAG is destroyed but the remote robots stick around. One would think it'd be the other way around.

If the Synchro remote can't make some of the skills in the order, it idles. Remote pilot has its own rules, but it works somewhat like a manned pilot. Generally you don't want to use only of you desperately need a specialist where TAG is and preferably don't have enemy presence.

I don't play PanO but I'll give you a crack at how to interpret the rules as written.

wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Ghost_(G)#Ghost:_Synchronized

the Auxbot must remain within 8" of the Seraph, with movement 6-4 it doesn't have much trouble staying with the Seraph as the Seraph doesn't need to superjump most of the time (as the height of the Seraph lets it move over obstacles less than its silhouette and jumping on top of buildings really exposes yourself to a lot of unwanted AROs if you're not careful, due to it being so tall). As the Auxbot lacks super-jump, it must remain Idle when the Seraph so chooses.

Remote Ancilliaries is a different can of worms.
Basically, you spend a short skill to dismount it, putting the bot in B2B, and then the bot can activate to do an objective from the mission for you. It leaves the TAG locked until the bot remounts the TAG, it gets destroyed and then you reset.

wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Locked

Yeah. Pilots dying when their TAG dies on the other side of the table is pretty lame. One would assume it would be to avoid some exploit, but I don't think dismouting the pilot before repair attempt (which you can't reroll) would be too broken. You still lose order.

I caught up on the arguing over the Teutonic knight earlier in the previous thread and had something I wanted to share. I really want to know what you guys think about it.

I don't think the Teuton is "bad" but rather "niche." This is why you have players complaining about him because they want to take a knight that can get plenty of work done but realize the tuetonic knight isn't a generalist than can take on the world as effectively as the linkable knights (santiagos, magisters, and hospitallers) or rambos (KoTHS. Father-knights) can.

Similar to bolts, I think Teutonic knights are really effective if you use them in their niche, which I consider to be in matches against the combined army.

The teutonic knight's lack of a cube means that they cannot be sepsitorized. This alone denies CA players from attempting to use their most special trick on this particular unit in the game. Looking at all of the sepsitor options in CA, your cheapest option comes out to 64 points while your most expensive is 137 points. Against the cheapest sepsitor option, your most expensive teutonic knight is still cheaper. Taking berserk, CC21, and an EXP CCW into account... I feel like the teuton works best as a one-shot striker against CA sepsitor platforms.

Those new rules still don't fix the problem the generic Khawarij have: the lack of defense and durability that makes the unit really feel like an expensive glass cannon.

Tarik "Big Dick" Mansuri's still fine though, even better now. I was planning on getting him anyways before news of Beyond came out.

I hope the Ramah Taskforce sectorial keeps getting spoiled. Having the Maghariba backed by a link team (along with Saladin as Lt) will be great.

That's an insane rule.
It means that (after you crunch math), Taric will always crit on active turn 32.7% of every 'shoot' order, even accounting for enemy crit probability.
In suppression fire against a B3 weapon such as a combi, he'll crit 23% of the time. That's more than HMG Remotes, which naturally crit 17.6% of the time only, all taking into account enemy crit chances to cancel yours out.

I mean, it's not that I think the rule is bad, it'll definitely help with my Haqqislam themed dice that repeatedly roll 1's, I just think that making the Khawarij models better at killing wasn't the needed change, instead that an Armour 1 BTS 3 model with no mimetism or mods for the price of HI like Domaru Butai, Zuyong, midfield skirmishers like Tuareg or Hassassins, or pseudo HI like Odalisques is inherently glass-cannon like and weak a weak platform. Sure, it's very arguable that the extra crits can be something defensive but a regular khawarij is still uncomfortably squishy.

Tarik has it balanced out by extra armor and a second wound and didn't need the extra change, but we'll see how the rule is priced for them all before I call judgment.

Yeah, it's still a bit too narrow of a niche to be useful at. You're still better off building your list without them.

The rule is priced at +1 point for the Kawarji, -1 point and -0.5SWC for Tarik.
That's right, being better than Marksmanship L2 in deadliness gives you a discount.

That's real fuckin niche. Bolts are niche, but their niche involves being highly resistant to viral and mines, immune to E/M, and generally annoying to remove from buildings in the midfield.
Being immune to one weapon from one (specifically vanilla) faction that is usually only used by one unit in a list and often not even that goes a bit beyond niche, methinks.

Teutons aren't even that terrible, just really meh and surrounded by great alternatives. A big ball of mediocrity in a faction that prides itself on interesting HI and strong linkable options.

Truly, Big "Tarik Mansuri" Dick is the greatest hero of all time.

You misspelled William Wallace.

A niche that narrow is not a niche at all, it's a gimmick. And not even a good one.
Most CA players don't even bring the sepsitor (sectorials can't in the the first place) and practically all platforms don't need much help kicking the head of a teuton in even without using their sepsitor. A plasma rifle or spitfire will usually do just fine.

Reading about that user being cheated by guys at his local game store was so aggravating

First rule of Infinity should be "No house rules".

Every two weeks or so, we get the same type of baitpost.
Usually contains these elements: Eastern Europe, bad grammar and most importantly, infuriating houserules.
We need something more original.

(cries in a corner)

Sounds french alright.

You got that role playing down!

>french flag

I have no respect for that shit

Why not?

Give me a Moblot reworking and a new Duroc/Margot kit and I am good. The rest is perfectly fine.

Shut up and field your Loup Garou.

...

that's a pretty weak reason.

>being stupid
>looking gay
>no aesthetic military,idiotic hats
>drinks whine
>cant win a war without help
>shitty language spanish tier
>colonies are now 3rd world shitholes full of niggers
>france is now mooristan

You sound a little butt hurt.
Show me where the frog touched you.

Dude, don't reply to the blatant troll. How blind can you be?

>You sound a little butt hurt.
>Show me where the frog touched you.

The meme makes itself

What paints do you use for these models?

Vallejo Model colors mostly.

How do I get a 5th fusilier if they come in a box of 4?

Buy the starter. Yes, you're getting models you don't intend, this shouldn't be be new to you.

Alternatively, hunt on ebay, or buy from Shae konnit games as they do split box deals at slightly less than a comparable retail price (but it ships from UK)

Acryllic paints intended for miniature painting. The brands I have, mainly citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter, and P3.

how about buying two starters, is it ever worth it? It would give two orcs for a duo, 6 fusiliers, enough to build a link and have a hacker separate, two nisse. I guess the two jump troopers would suck a bit, but they could work as proxies for locust or hexxas.

>using a sculpt more than once

It's not terribly useful and it'll look like shit.

You could do it, sure, but you'd need to proxy practically every other gun. Plus, model diversity is easy on the eyes.
Basically, don't be a cheapskate.

What are some counters for TR bots? Hacking? Smoke? Bigger gun?

Yes.

When all else fail, coordinated orders may work. It can only shoot one tqrget. Though at that point you're throwing bodies at it.

Besides the rocket launcher, the sniper and the hmg could be given to combi dudes, through the spec ops weapon pack. Cheaper I think then buying a starter and a fusilier 4 man,

>Smoke, hacking, bigger guns
For the most part, yep. AD Troops can walk in close and maybe get into their bad ranges. They're only BS11, so stack MODs against them: Camo, outrange, cover, etc etc.

What faction are you playing?

But yeah, hacking, smoke, longer range, mod stacking, flanking...loads of options.

You know, a character pilot with Engineer would be pretty cool. So they can self repair (But they need to hop out to do so)

Scarface and Cordelia are probably as close to that as we'll get. But yeah, would be neat.

Scarface and Cordelia is objectively better regardless simply for getting two orders out of having them

Say I got a 4 man fireteam of Myrmidons and the enemy moves up into a firing position. I declare special dodge with smoke grenades. Am I burst 1 or Burst 2?

Burst 2. Throwing Smoke Grenades is a BS Attack

Burst 2. Whenever you see the term "special dodge" in the rules, just fucking ignore it. It's poorly named and even more poorly explained.
Smoke grenades interact with enemy attacks the exact same way normal guns do. It's essentially a BS attack vs BS attack roll, except if you win you place a smoke template instead of doing damage.

Sweet jesus. Myrmidon smoke is vicious then with ODD and rolling for 16s.

Does the new Lethality level 2 rule seem as misguided to everyone else as it does to me? I understand crits are part of the game. However, when I get crit I feel disappointed, when I cause the crit I feel like I didn't earn it. I don't particularly mind them but I don't enjoy them either. I feel like this new skill is only going to tip me towards the negative direction.

>Those new rules still don't fix the problem the generic Khawarij have: the lack of defense and durability that makes the unit really feel like an expensive glass cannon.

...isn't that the point?

> surrounded by great alternatives

Almost a lie.

He's the only one that does what he does at his point cost.

He's a cheap, flexible HI anti-TAG option.

He can also run at dudes that use Nanopulsars for close-range opponents.

He's also resistant to Hacking and E/M

>you'd need to proxy practically every other gun
>like this is a weird thing for Infinity

This is a nothing complaint for this game.

Can you imagine a 5 man fusilier team with 2 pairs being the same sculpt and someone saying "this one is a missile launcher, this one is HMG, this one is a FO, this one is a paramedic"

When they could just fucking buy the fusi box and not fuck with their opponent.

"This Orc is HMG and this Orc is hacking device in the duo" as they are both the same fucking sculpt.

Nah, I actually like 1 becoming a more useful number. I also like it in a "hero of the nation" sense. Guys capable of pulling wins out of their ass.

Personally I'm sad that they might get rid of Bioimmunity and Poison now.

>Implying that is not what my group already does

We write down notes to say which one is which. Ask your opponent for one.

Literally cheapskate assholes. A line trooper SWC box is 25$ max. I can see proxying your spec ops as a model you dont wanna buy, but proxying 5/5 members of a fireteam is a dick move.

>Ask your opponent for one.
The golden rule is "You proxy it, you care for it."

>Literally cheapskate assholes.
>Poor people don't exist
>People don't have bills to pay

Homie, I have to save up money for every purchase I fucking make. So yeah, I'm going to write notes.

Hey man I don't want to buy the old Celestial Guard SWC box. I know as soon as I do, Corvus will release a new one.

Well the opponent did tell him which units are which. This has been established. If that's not enough, then ask for the note.

I do think it's rather douchy for the proxier but I'm rolling with the scenario that the user described rather than create an ideal scenario. I have no idea which one he will most likely interact with first.

Make little tabards for your dupe models that say FO or whatever.

That box is kind of ass yeah, but the guy who began this chain was talking about buying two Pano starters and proxying the 6 Fusis as his core team.

Fusiliers, Alguilcies, Moderators, and several other SWC boxes look great.

Hope we get a Thorakitai SWC box soon.... I want Thorakitai with a Feurbach n shit.

Why can't they sell that shit individually? I want 2x missile launchers. I don't want a sniper or whatever never use profile CB comes up with.

>b-b-but muh SKUs TT_TT

They did for a while and apparently CB found that the old system didn't work.

Proxying 1/5 models in a link team for a second missile launcher is not a dick move though.

Burst 2. Throwing a grenade counts as a BS attack, but because it had the throwing weapon attribute, you use PH instead of BS

Repainted Uxia and painted an Airborne Molotok.

Indigo Spec-Ops and Dire Foes with Bipandra and Angus.

It's fitting that Uxia is in old scale as she's supposed to be short.

>Hope we get a Thorakitai SWC box soon.... I want Thorakitai with a Feurbach n shit.
This
1000x this

Update, motherfuckers

...

No, stop showing your beautiful terrain and well painted models in scenic shots.

Has anyone tried running this now that the complete corebook pdf has been sent to backers?

I'm wondering how it went with the whole momentum/heat mechanic and the cashflow/assets system because that really seems tedious.

>SISTER-INVESTIGATOR
Why

>tfw not a backer

>tinbot looks like a toddler in power armour
10/10

Why not? MO could do with a few tits here and there.

I'm going to assume this is fan made.

Honestly, that's fine. We'll never get female knights, so having them in the various other branches of the church is a good way to break up the sausage fest.
A marksman rifle with a built-in assault pistol on the other hand...

Obviously.

Aleph lolibot dossier when?

>rifle with underslung pistol
This kills the /k/omrade.

>unslung pistol
is this even a thing. looks retarded

Besides the black father, are any of the knights used in vanila ? I really like how the ice storm one looks like, been thinking about running him as a spitfire montessa, but am not sure about it.

I want to start with this sheet. Any tips?

It is an smg, and yes it is a real thing. Poland produces one for example, lower left corner you can see it.

you have a more pan'o design here

That's interesting. I definitely like the more integrated/compact look as oppose to a pistol just stuck on the rifle.

Strictly speaking it's more of a machine pistol, and there is a difference between putting it under a assault rifle (dubious, but whatever) and a dedicated marksman rifle (worthless).

Yeah, those without Frenzy. FK, Sepulchre, maybe Montesa. I like running Joan in Vanilla.

That looks more like a shotgun than anything.

Montesa, Sepulchre, Crusader multi rifle, Hospitaller doctor and Father Knight all see some use. Santiago spitfire might be good too though I haven't seen it in action.
