>demons in the modern age have adapted to technology's affect on the human psyche and look like super attractive anime girls
>they're still evil and vicious as everloving fuck and will do all sorts of fucked up things to anyone foolish enough to fall for their trickery

Demons some time ago went through a populous revolution that created a more evenly distributed chaotic system. They threw down the demon princes and sold most of them to angles for infinite torture. Now they determine rulership by lots every day and each day throw down those demons as well when they try and keep power for longer than 24 hours. So demons are in a continuous state of lottery communism revolution run by a single devil who tricked them all into believing in the lots system.

That sounds like less vicious version of Turkish take on "democracy".

Well, depends on which setting i'm doing. In my 'donut steel original one'

>Hell was not created as a means to punish the wicked, but in God's great mercy, he created Hell to be a place of peace and a paradise for sinners so those who chose another path need not suffer
>Problem is, you populate paradise with a bunch of selfish, short-sighted assholes and it turns into hell pretty quickly.
>No one is happy in Hell, not even the 'rulers', their own actions inflict needless suffering on one another, and have turned a Garden of Eden into a blasted wasteland of ashes and poison
>in all fairness, demons, like anyone trapped in hell just want to get out
>But demons tend to still have such a selfish, short-sighted mindset, it's not long before they start to cause 'hell' to appear on earth, growing around them as they poison the mortal realm
>nevermind still being an asshole that never sees any reason to cooperate with people witout getting something out of it.

Meddlesome spirits of all kinds exist in the world. Like people, some are kind, some are neutral, and some are malicious or cruelly uncaring. Spirits seen as evil are frequently called "demons" by mortals.

> Demons come from a hole that the dwarves drilled through reality 1400 years ago on an ill-advised prospecting mission
> Demons as a whole believe that mortals take things too seriously, and should lighten up a little bit with some cocaine and music and murder and grand theft auto and genocide and self-mutilation and jaywalking
> Powerful demons inspired by the Evil Dead in terms of psychology, as they intentionally inflict as much horror and despair as they can
> Weaker demons range from shiftless slaves to mutant Antifa to monsters in the darkness
> Through the Great Rift lies Chaos, which is an indescribable maelstrom of energy, pulsating flesh, brilliant light and dazzling images of awful glamour
> Chaos is a force, a plane, a moral order, an element and a god that sounds suspiciously like Mark Hamill all at once
> Five great Chaos Gods called the Talon hold sway over most demons, as they represent Chaos' ability to get its shit together and try to invade the Material Plane
> Last time they succeeded in killing 98% of the mortal races, triggering a permanent technological dark age and the rise of humanity, and they're gearing up for another attempt once someone starts playing around with giant drills again
> Chaos is the source of all magic and light in the multiverse, so demons like to tag along on spells on occasion
> Killing Chaos would ultimately doom the multiverse to an eventual heat-death from entropy, but a Chaos victory would lead to a perpetual orgy of destruction and recreation accompanied by a Slash guitar solo that would never end, which also isn't that great

You do not want a demon waifu. Demons are malicious creatures that will bite your dick off on a whim if they think it would be funny. And all of their faces are slightly asymmetrical, which will drive you insane both literally and figuratively.

And don't ask me about devil waifus. They're even worse, even if they're what keeps that Dwarven mine-shaft closed.

Demons online like to do things such as intentionally use the word "affect" in place of "effect" and vice versa. The greatest and most celebrated of their kind is known to have invented the concept of saying "should of" or "would of" instead of "should've" or "would've".

Truly alien extra-planar beings that mostly regard "mortals" as tools, fuel, and food.
Many have no sense of or awareness of concepts like kindness, compassion, or love.
But cruelty, violence, and malevolent dominance remain viable survival traits.

>And all of their faces are slightly asymmetrical, which will drive you insane both literally and figuratively.
Isn't that the case for most of, if not all, people? Nobody has an exactly symmetrical face. Try taking a picture of you face and mirroring the left and the right side, and you will end up with two slightly different faces.

>WELCOME TO THE IRON REPUBLIC

Yeah, their faces should be totally symmetrical. If you reflect both sides of a face to make a new one, it'll look unsettlingly perfect, and fall into the Uncanny Valley. Symmetry is attractive, but perfect symmetry is weird and alien, so it's perfect for demons.

>Gods exclusively give their power to they feel deserve it, be that in the form of divine empowerment, holy relics, revelations or miracles. However, this power generally comes without a price and possibly without that person's knowledge. It is only revoked should the person in question fall below the standards of the gods' blessing.
>Demons, meanwhile, while sell their power at some pretty exorbitant costs, but will sell it to literally anyone who successfully summons one. Great magics thought lost to the world, an invincible body able to fight anyone, demon-forged artifacts of immeasurable power, and insight into the secrets of the cosmos are only examples of what demons have to offer. Cost need not be paid up-front. Demons are willing to be very flexible with their payment plans so long as someone pays in the end. The gods have forbidden demonology not necessarily because it is evil, but because it allows humans to become extremely powerful very quickly without the gods' approval.

>Overall modern human psyche prefers anime girls
No, they'd be a Kardashian

I would like to post something a kind user suggested me some time ago.

I think this really depicts my setting's demons as embodiments of Chaos, not Evil.

Bump

Demons got sick of there kings crap after battling each other and the outside world. As a result a big Civil war happened and decided to Allie with the humans. Also on a side, You can waifiu the demon to mixed results. Including but not limited to: Unintentionally fucking a piece of humans emotions
Fucking the void of exsistance and becoming a Void magician.
Being tortured "Lovingly" by a demon
Dieing and becoming a soldier in the Human-Demonic Army.
Generally demons are chill but still if one loves you back. They'll show there affection in a twisted way. Not that it's bad, everyone grows to love fucked up nature of demonic's in time.
Also not all demons are nice and willing to become you wife or Husband.
Those are usual the Old Kings men. They'll flay you and turn you into mince like the demons of old. They are minority at current but recent gains show there nature starting another major war.
Also the undead work for the demons. Lyches are said to harness the power of Demons of New and use some of the excess power to bring ancient souls back to life.

Hell is getting filled up with too many people. Many demons have gone back to school to retrain as psychiatrists and therapists to help their clients work through their issues to leave hell.

>The original rebellion in heaven was over God's demand that the Angels willingly serve humanity
>As part of their punishment, he granted humans knowledge of how to summon and bind fallen angels (that is to say, demons) to do humanity's bidding, whether they agreed or not.
>Over time, that knowledge has come to be banned by the pious and only practiced by the scum of humanity.
>Demons are not evil, in fact they loathe every vile act that they're forced to do
>They just have no real say in the matter.

>demons come from a place where abstract concepts shape reality
>thus earth, where reality shapes abstract thought, is alien to them as we are back
>their response to being pulled here is violent and desperate seeking a way back home, including being killed which banishes their spirit back home
>some find earth extremely interesting, like how some humans study and catalogue their home, and spread easy summoning rituals so people call them over
>it's still a really bad idea though unless you know exactly who you're calling up and can put them back down

Can I use this for potential world building later?

I don't write demons often, but I usually write them as the most tempting version of sin.
A demon of sloth is the physical ideal of comfort: soft, welcoming, calming, but each time you go to it you end up staying a little longer until you never want to leave.
Wrath would be an avatar of righteous fury able to lead to to quick, effective, and violent solutions that make you feel accomplished, but each act will make it easier to escalate to violence in the future.
Greed is sometimes similar to wrath in that the demon will demonstrate that you need money to advance your goal, and teach you to get it. Other times it's a good salesman that just wants to teach you a few tricks of the trade, and never mind if someone gets tricked out of some gold, they new what you were when they saw you so they only have themselves to blame.
Pride is noble, strong, and incorruptible. The demon will show you how to walk the high road and take control over all you deserve, but will blind you to all other roads, but the one he wants you on.
Lust is sensual love and delight, and always honest in her approach. She'll give people control over how they come to her and lead them to other sins a step at a time.
Envy as a demon I usually put in as the common man. An oppressed figure that needs help making things right and is always able to point to other people that have "stolen" power from the masses. The demon leads people on never ending quests in search of nonexistent satisfaction.
Gluttony however, shows people all of the satisfaction to be gained in the world. This demon teaches people about the little delights to be found all around and leads them to new and better experiences that can be had by focusing on just one or two.

Demons in my settings usually work subtly. A demon of gluttony might be the kindly owner of a brewery, happy to share a bit of ale with all who come. First is a sample, then friendship, then he'll have you over for a night of drinks, then he'll teach you a good hangover cure so the drinks won't affect you in the morning. Then he'll teach you to be more merry while drunk, to laugh and sing without inhibition or fear of judgement. Then when you start having problems he'll lend you his shoulder and teach you how to manage your drunkenness. Finally, when there's no longer any hope of you solving your problem he'll cut you off, "for your own good." He'll leave some parting words that seem harsh, but fair, and say what he needs to keep a place in the community. But he taught you to rely on beer when you never would have otherwise.

Holy shit that's genius OP.

They could go one step further and disguise themselves as anime girls from specific anime's, anyone who had that waifu would be a goner.

Just imagine a demon who looked like Hatsune Miku, and the amount of power and influence that demon would have over thousands of weeaboos.

So, the plot of MeMeMe only it's not a metaphor?

There are two types of demons, and for characters in setting this is a huge clusterfuck, only a competent demonologist could clearly understand.
There were\are True Demons. They were shadows\conceptually mirrored gods. While each god mastered it's world in all world's aspects, True Demons were born with one ability to each, but ability was perfect. While gods were not exactly sentient in our meaning and were "conscious" thoughts of "sleeping" Existence itself, True Demons were it's "subconcious" motives. One True Demon, Kaiba, was shunned and misused, because he had no ability to excel at. Angered, he killed one of his brethern. You can guess which ability he had, if I'll tell you that he killed almost all his brethern, leaving only three, if we'll include Kaiba himself. Then he tried to kill the Existence to become it. He prepared to what seemed to be stupid idea and asked prehuman sorcerer Haal do something in a way so Kaiba would succeed in his attempt. Haal took his blood, hearts of gods, flesh of leviathans and made Core. Existence chimped out, shattered Kaiba to endless pieces, cursed prehumans to humans, divided itself to what setting knows as "sectors" and planes - endless separate worlds, lying in 9 metaphysical layers, each having their own laws of what we would call logic, time, physics, magic, etc. Core gave birth to one species that should gather all pieces of Kaiba and conquer endless sectors.

Cont.
Humans survived not in all the planes, and changed unimaginable in some. In the plane, which known to most normal and close to ours, home of False Demons is called Apocalipticum. Because shit is gone too far here. Humans were able to contain their reality-breaking magics here, but they were losing grasp of it rapidly. So they made automated spells. It was understood, that these formulas work very efficient if energy is drawn from emotions. And even more eficient if energy is drawn from negative emotions. As spells were given more and more autonomy and self-sufficiency, society of humans here were giving up to decadency and degeneracy. Finally, spells became self-conscious. And they wanted fuel. Endless hordes of all shapes and specialities, unaging, multiplying, they were wrecking Apocalipticum for eons. They can comprehend the concept of growth, but can't comprehend concepts like decay, because shit is endlessly decaying there. Hunger confuses them, makes them feel fear, which confuses them even more, and then they just go to mindless rage. They can be controlled and cooperated with, but only one of a thousand of all the demonologists doesn't finish as their slave. But really, statistic is far worse: one caste inside Kaiba's children society consists of really wierd mages/scientists. Because one of their beloved disciplines is demonology and they are utterly successful with every shit tied to magics and science, especially things dangerous, and especially things vicious, you should think that for normal society count of really able demonologists is not 1:1000, but 1:1000,000.

Cont. Forgot to mention this. Demons are emotion construct of every human. Each demon is the sum of all emotions of one person. Which resulted in the saying "In the end your own demon will keep you". Notably Humans and "Semi Human Looking" follow this rule. While monster and world ending species are exempt from this rule. The Demon takes the form of what you were in life, lets say you were a greedy womanizer. It would be the equivalent of a Succubus Fused with a lawyer. If you were a friendly out going non "sinful" type of guy you would get the equivalent of a angel. I should mention Angels and Demons are one in the same. Hell and heaven are the same place but under different architectures. Death in the lands is not bad or good. In the end you are rewarded, the more true to your alignment the better the reward is in the End.
A evil unfeeling conqueror will be awarded well by there respective demon. A person who try's and redeem themselves from evil results in a lesser reward. Those who constantly change are rewarded less by there demon. (This rule is true usually exceptions have been made)
