Player screening

Do you do player screening (looking for them on Facebook, their IRL info/habits, etc.) before accepting them into your group? What are your criterias for not allowing them into your group?
Mine:
>has reddit/tumblr account
>has/had stupid OCs
>plays MMO
>is an unironic normie

I should have. Now I'm stuck with a guy that has canceled our meeting twice in a row. And he invited his gf into the game without asking first.

>"unironic normie"
What kind of autism would possess you to use this phrase? Would you play with a someone who's "totally just ironically being a normie, guys."?

>this entire post

Veeky Forums was a mistake

Not OP, but this guyMy problem player sends me ifunny memes about once a week. I'm not even much of a memelord but that one worries even me

Are you sure he's not just sending them to you ironically? That would be hilarious!

I am positive. He also regularly references memes during a session. I give you some examples

>group is in a cave hunting a Flameskull
>bugbears try to sneak up on them, but roll natural 1 on stealth
>announce to the party something like "you suddenly see a bugbear clumsily sliding down some rocks"
>that guy yells "record scratch! Yep, that's me. You probably wonder how I got into this situation."

>unironically calls the rogue "woke" as often as possible

and my "favorite" one
>something odd happens
>he imitates the Seinfeld melody, even trying to overmodulate it
>does this multiple times per session

>criterias

I actually talk to players and ask them to describe their best past roleplaying experiences. Generally that will tell you if they're a That Guy or just in it to murder-hobo or play an anime character.

Anyone who uses shitty "criteria" need to learn to actually talk to people and quit being an autist.

OP once again proves how That Guys always lack the self awareness to realize they're That Guy.

(You)

I use my friends game to screen. Since he just fucking invites anyone. If there's someone I think is good after a few sessions I invite him to my game.

>Having standards makes you That Guy

Lol, that's not at all what user is telling you, but keep digging that hole deeper, autist.

Then explain what that user meant

He means your criteria are autistic shit and you should just fucking talk to your players to get an idea of what kind of people they are, you autistic sperglord. Are you baiting right now, or are you actually this retarded?

I'm not the op but if someone is going to the trouble of setting up and running a game then they can have whatever autistic criteria they want. Instead of crying about it if you don't like it then either find another game, run your own or suck it up, princess.

Sure they can, but it's not gonna help them get good players, which is the very thing you (the OP) is bitching about, you autistic fuck.

Reread the OP you mong. He never mentioned criteria for obtaining good players, he simply mentioned criteria regarding qualities about potential players which annoyed him. Christ you're stupid.

Thread's over, let it die here, guys. OP's just baiting now.

If he's not looking for good players but rather for players who won't trigger his autism, then he is a That Guy.

No. Maybe it will turn into a porn dump.

Just go to /d/, OP.

I invite people from various previous games I was in or people I know have an interest in the system. One time I invited someone to an Only War game who was joining my friends pathfinder game. This is what they did in that game.

>Show up the first session
>Post about 3 messages
>Whined in the chat that we weren't being serious enough because we were making jokes.
>Missed three games in a row despite posting up to game time and then disappearing for the next 3 hours until exactly right after it ended.
>Wouldn't talk to the GM at all after a while.

He soon pulled out of the game I invites him to, whining to me "I don't want to be an Xcom recruit." Yeah? Well I don't want a no fun faggot who bitches at others that 'we aren't serious' then never shows up to games.

Players who don't really want to play an RPG, they just want to sit around a table to drink, shoot the shit and 'win' at throwing dice around.

Oh, even better. He recently messaged a bunch of us recently asking back into the game claiming his depression got the better lf him back then.

The entire party said no, thankfully.

Christ OP, you make pic related seem reasonable.

Criteria for not accepting a player? For now, body odour.

It's not like I come there and sniff you up close, but there's some kind of smell (unpleasant) that kinda hovers over some people and just tells you how edgy/meme lord/bad a player would be should you allow them in your campaign.

That's not necessarily a bad thing but I've learned that if you run a game like that all of the players have to feel that way or none of them.

I don't feel that way, so if I have someone like that in my game, one of us needs to get out. Either way, it's bad.

>54934955
You're retarded.

I totally know who that is, but explain it to me just in case some poor user on this thread doesn't.

That is autism. We do no speak its name, lest it become erect.

Yeah, a little. I generally grill them a bit about interests, experience, etc when I first meet them, and then the real test
I invite them to lunch/dinner. Helps see what they're like in a casual setting for an extended amount of time. Really has weeded out a lot of spergs and weirdos
