Why don't the Chaos gods just spawn the mortal heroes that cause them grief?

Why don't the Chaos gods just spawn the mortal heroes that cause them grief?

Emperor's protection, veil between reality and the immaterium providing protection, can't be bothered, too much willpower, some combination of all of the above.

Because they have to ask for Abaddons permission first obviously.

As a Black Library writer who has worked with ADB personally, this is correct.

So chaos gifts are just failed WP saves?

Yeah, sometimes you're hanging out in the Eye and the Chaos Gods decide to hit you with that good ole -80 save or spawn WP save.

Spawndom is a reward.

Pretty shitty reward when Magnus hands it out by the dozen.

>Implying you saved points in your list for spawn summoning

I wasn't impyling that at all actually. At least not intentionally.

Better question, why don't they just turn all their enemies into Daemon Princes/Princesses?

All heretics are weak willed

Adrian Smith has created some absolutely fantastic fantasy art, but I bet that dude's hard drive has some fucked up porn, even by Veeky Forums's standards, on there.

What did you write senpai?

Because they can't.

Yes, they can. They have spawned, possessed, and murdered at random many times.

An Imperial Guard horror-thriller about an Imperial Guardsman who gets sucked into a small subrealm of the Garden of Nurgle where he finds It's ruled by a particularly large and vile Greatn Unclean One. The story is entitled Your Mom's House

Oh no doubt. I bet he'd make even /d/ blush.

...

You know, the difference between a spawn and a demon prince is that one of them had the willpower to survive the blessings while the other was simply overwhelmed and succumbed to its own weakness. What if a certain Spawn had still some rational thought and conquered his blessings to become a demon prince? Like he's been suffering for years yet he can still think and is about to become full on beast mode until, for whatever reason, gains enough will power to conquer the last blessing and ascend into demonhood? That would be a cool story.

Possibly because of how the Warp works.

The warp is a realm of pure emotion, without any form of matter, other than what's brought there. But equally, without protection, your flesh can become manipulated by the raw emotions, twisting it and changing you. This is the cause of mutation.

When a mortal is subjected to a massive amount of warp energy, enough to mutate them completely (6 mutations in old WH standards) they undergo one of two fates.
Most commonly their mind and soul snaps, they cannot contain the energies and their body mutates into some strange fleshy monstrosity, aka a Chaos Spawn.
The other option is that they keep their mind. They can control their body and the mutations that wrack it, their soul becomes strong enough to withstand the winds of the warp. And they become a Daemon Prince.

So, the Chaos gods could channel a massive amount of warp energy into an upstart, but they'd run the risk of one of them becoming an immortal daemon.

Which'd kind of piss them off.

Daemonhood is a gift all on its own.

It's happened.
Foulspawn was a champion of Nurgle, "blessed" by the plague god by turning into a Spawn, and has eventually become a Daemon Prince.

Why do dorfs chimp out over menial crap.
