We Make A Creepy Setting

>The great shade of the primordial Demon King hangs over the cosmos, spreading chaotic entropy and withering despair upon all created things.

>The Great Shade, the mere "shadow" of that which Slumbers In the Dark. A vile force of perversion that twists and warps all that it touches.
>Animals and plants are warped and merged into horrific amalgams that now devour and corrode all in their path.

Congrats, y'all just made Shadow of the Demon Lord

But SOTDL is barely fleshed out as is user. Its more of a 'basis' for a setting, than an actual setting in and of itself.

>It cannot stand the light. Even the faintest of glows repels it entirely. If it was ever caught in the sun, it would be extinguished entirely.
>Even the glow of the moon is enough to weaken it to a pail immitation of its strength.

>Many are those who earnestly believe that "Reality is a lie, a pointless weave binding us", and have given into the temptations of the Dark.
>They now eagerly seek to pave the way for the One Who Dreams Dark, and will destroy all who those who dare to stand in the way of their ultimate goal.

>Demons and other fiends are but mere extensions of the Darkness Outside, taking some manner of 'form' upon entering the boundaries of Creation.
>These vile creatures seek only to promote the spread of Darkness wherever they tread, and to eventually pull apart the divide separating the material realm from the cerulean Abyss that they call home.

>All teleportation, whether magical or otherwise, ever-so-briefly touches a terrifying chaos dimension called the Harrow
>Repeated or large-scale teleportation to and from the same areas attracts the attention of the entities that "live" in the Harrow
>Repeated or large-scale teleportation also weakens the planar boundaries between here and the Harrow, making it easier for incursions
>The Harrow is distinct from the Abyss and other terrifying chaos dimensions and is notable for having very different rules of nature, which change more the deeper you go, to the point where the same effect will have a different result every time in the Deep Harrow

>Always grimderp

The gods of the universe empower mortal humans with the power of LOVE to fight against the demon king. These humans become magical girls.

>Unfortunately these "magical girls" (Usually referred to as "Cursed Ones", or "Witches" by most), are stripped of a good deal of their own emotions and empathy, making them cold or 'distant'.
>Perhaps this is the exchange that the Divinities make with mortals in order for humans to be given a sliver of their dwindling power.

>>Unfortunately these "magical girls" (Usually referred to as "Cursed Ones", or "Witches" by most), are stripped of a good deal of their own emotions and empathy, making them cold or 'distant'.
Until you get to know them, then they're actually quite nice.

Well it was nice while it lasted

>But recently amongst the Dreamer's followers an individual has risen through the ranks. He has gained the respect and admiration of the cultists for his prowess is summoning from the Harrow and according to him, his ability to witness the nightmares of the Dreamer.

It's not over until the horrific alien intelligence has finished sucking dry your intestinal fluids, user! Now stop moping and get out there!

>The Church of the Blinding Sun draws in throngs of desperate masses
>A select few are allowed to take on the ritual scarifications and rites to be become templars

Those that fail the test are sacrificed to the Blinding Sun, the brightest of the planet's 3 stars.

>Those who try to study demonic phenomena run the risk of contracting various ailments.
>Some can even be directly tainted by corruption if they aren't careful.

The magical girls drain love out of the universe to power their spells. The world becomes more miserable, and people become more hateful and full of spite, as the emotional reservoirs are drained.

Love, it seems, is not an infinite resource.

And the bad guys use hate to power their spells and cause everyone to be more loving.

can you keep using the word horror in your posts so I can filter them out? thanks

>A grey, barren waste of the Broken and lost lies to the north of the old kingdoms.
>None truly know what the land there used to be, only that it is now a graveyard for those all those things that have become "Lost", or are 'stranded' here, abandoned by those who once held them close.

To invoke Dread Asharia, of the Screaming Choir, one must first:
>Desecrate the body of one of your elders, be it father or mother, grandmother, or grandfather. It matters not to the Choir.
>Then, ground their bones to dust, and mix their powdered remains with your own blood.
>Stir the ground mixture slowly, and pour it over the ground of that which you consider to be most holy.
>Now watch as the divide parts, and the Screaming Choir manifests to let you sing with them within the Abyss for eternity.

> A Creepy Setting

Every conspiracy theory is real. Be it magical or not.

>The colonists came from another world.
>They don't want to be here, but with the length of space travel, it makes interstellar escape infeasible.
>Now they spend their time researching how to contain and destroy the darkness using their advanced technology.

>Some of the colonists resemble humans for the most part.
>Others? Not so much...

>chaotic entropy

>Arrival of the Alien spicies is rapidly changing the way people live, making it easier to fight the shdows. Shadowspawn adopt to the emotions of newcomers and replicate their weapons and tactics, making their arrival unsugnificant.

Pretty retarded considering in chemistry Entropy = Chasos and Entalpy = Order (Well constant temperature under constant preassure).

Before reaching adulthood the girls are sacrficed to create magical items of high potency, the body and soul has to be pure for this to work. Standard procedure demands that their clitoris should be knited shut to prevent them from seeking pleasures.

>Entalpy = Order
Not......exactly.
>Enthalpy:
>a thermodynamic quantity equivalent to the total heat content of a system. It is equal to the internal energy of the system plus the product of pressure and volume.

>within us all the soul screams and we made the mistake of listening
>at the opening of the third eye, we saw through fractured mirrors and came to see only the truth
>the seeds of divinity were planted and our species is now ripened
>now the reaper stirs for the feast
>the wyrm comes

Actually after re-reading it's a bit too Lovecraftian for my taste. "Ancient and unknowable" monsters are a bit overdone, I prefer going for horrors just a bit beyond what we can perceive, and twisting meditative introspection as a gateway to horror, instead of the horror existing outside of ourselves.

>The nightmarish atrocities afflicting this land are but the merest sliver of the Cosmic Truth.
>Only deluded fools think themselves "Heroes" in this desolate waste. Only those who can't fathom the unholy truth are willing to believe that there is "Hope" amidst their meaningless struggles.
