Brienne is a woman, who wants to be a knight, but does not reject her feminine nature and is unapologetic for it. Sansa uses her empathy to survive instead of a sword or poison. A lot of people seem to have this sexist notion that a feminist character must be some butch lesbian who kills men for no reason and laughs about it. This kind of a character may appear in the show (Brienne), but not really the books.
