If need be, could your PC work out as a villain?

If need be, could your PC work out as a villain?

yes

No because that will make everyone 'right' about him

he's a chaotic good necromancer

I mean, she's adventuring for the purpose of becoming well-known for her evil acts.

The better question is whether she can be brought to the side of good.

Being evil for the sake of evil... is really edgy

Yes, to the point where he was used as the BBEG for a different campaign my GM ran.

I dare someone to post a PC that could not become a villian.

i went with a neutral good necromancer
dressed him up like director krennic from RO, gave him a really edgy name, had him always surrounded by skeletons and delighted in the screaming children, and was often your typical snooty noble who looked down on everyone

but he risks his life for others, would never consider lying or dishonesty, and never stops fighting for what he believes in, and his goal was a world where he could raise the worlds downtrodden to be as noble as he is

Yes, but not as a 'main' villain, as his motivation is service to his king and country, so he's kinda second banana by default

She's evil because her mother, a rather petty witch who hates travelers in her woods, raised her to be evil.

At semi-villain, at best.

There is one Enemy in the world of this game, the lidless fiery eye who never sleeps. He has the power to corrupt, but fortunately, elves are quite resistant to that. There was only one elf in history who truly sided with the Shadow and betrayed his city.

Still, elves can be corrupted, if not so much as to switch sides, sorrow, angst and whisperings of Shadow can make them embrace petiness and vice.

Thus, he could become "villain" in the same sense Boromir, Denethor, or Feanor and his sons were. Not a servant of the Dark One, but one who remains in opposition to him, but still commits heinous acts and is an obstacle towards true hearted heroes.

also pic pretty much related

Yes, he's a paladin so I suppose he would be a good totalitarian bad guy who take freedom from people to destroy all the evil things, or even thoughts

>If need be, could your PC work out as a villain in my ass?

Yeah but it'd be pretty lame because his shtick was that he was a redeemed villain and he was a major moral compass cock block for the party's murder hobo tendencies.

> A cruel and bloodthirsty forest elf ranger
Has a potential for it.
> A malkavian vampire
Already partially a villain.
> A literal shinigami
Already partially a villain.
> A literal boogeyman
He is a good guy, but sometimes misunderstood.
> A ratkin jester
Not evil enough, not dangerous enough.
> A half-troll barbarian
Already partially a villain.
> A sentient sword
Will serve a villain if the villain is a true warrior and will feed it enough blood.
> A half-elf knight
He is a noble who's been deprived of his legacy. He might become a villain under some circumstances.
> A multifunctional android
Might become a villain, but not a major one. He's been created to serve, whether it is navigating, mercenary missions, warfare, or peaceful labour.
> A shadow wizard
Might become a villain, has a potential for that.
> A vampire noble who's also a spy and an alchemist
He's already a villain for a certain kingdom.

That makes even less sense. What daughter wants to be like her mother?

A daughter who worships her adoptive mother as almost a deific figure because she believes she owes said mother her life.

No, user. you are the villain.

Villain = Peasant.

Well, he's dabbled in stuff like necromancy in the past to satiate his curiosity, but no, he can't become a villain the any true sense of the word. He is antagonistic to the status quo, but not to "evil" or "good", he doesn't care about those things.

100%

Maybe if he was brainwashed or killed and reanimated. Something similar to Green Ranger.

>A ronin Tsuruchi Girl who wants people to be good and not assholes.
Not in her current mindset/personality.
>an Akodo yojimbo to a jade magistrate.
No.
>A neutral elf wizard focused only on his studies on the intricacies of magic. He wants to become Azuth.
Yes, he could potentially become an evil character in the pursuit of stronger spells.

"The good doesn't know how close to evil they really are."
-Overlord

Unfortunately my current PC is rather one dimensional. So no, not really a good villain.
A really dangerous opponent sure, but not a villain.

Definitely. He's basically "pssh, the weak should fear the strong, that's what honour's all about", only from a good perspective (these lords taking advantage of the peasants...).

Morrigan don't you have a Warden to find?

>he's a chaotic good necromancer
ugh

Obsession with tropes and their subversion is disgusting.

That's aimed at you, by the way. Not cg necroanon.

>expressing why you disagree with someone or otherwise dislike something
Ugh.

I didn't really do that at all, user. I just said I disagreed with obsessing over tropes.

>Ex Space-pirate turned into Malcolm Reynolds-esq anti-hero
You better believe he could go back to the bad.
This is a man that had to export several years worth of his memory to an external storage unit in order to function as a member of semi-civilized society.
He was basically an Arco-flagellant crossbred with a Reaver in the past.

You bet your ass he could go there again.

>lawful evil Dragonborn Cleric
He is already the villian

Made me think of a few characters i've used over the years, and a few of them totally could be.

Star Wars D6: Astromech with a broken personality module. Hacked into every system it could get a connection with. Could easily be some sort of Imperial "agent" screwing with the party

Dark Heresy: Scum that worked his way up to being the slum lord running a space station and spy networks for his Inquisitor. Could decide to go rogue / fall to chaos since he's already kind of crazy.

Pathfinder: Grouchy old Alchemist who spent most of his time as the party healer. Would have retired a long time ago but after taking the position as a small lords alchemist he had to keep working to keep his post. Not a huge fan of his boss but the job comes with an awesome lab to work in. Could go evil by being pushed too far one day and just locking himself in his lab doing experiments and walk about a month later and overthrow his lord.

My PC is already a villain, it's just that his interests align with the forces of good, his evil plan is to create a realm of sustainable long-term ungodliness, which means that anything that threatens the nearby kingdoms is automatically his enemy as well.

>Ugh.
Ugh.

If you take my characters from Warhammer settings to some high fantasy - they will be quite villainous

>eyepatch morty
>villain
He's the actual hero of the show

Never!

>Dragonbord Paladin
>Lawful Good
>Team Mom
>Compulsively Protective
It would be really hard, and the only way to do it would be to turn her into some sort of trashy pedo sex-slave collector or something stupid like that in order to stay in character.

My current PC is a ninja of a clan slaved by ilithids who was trained to have no self will, soulbound by a ring to serve the contract master. My current master is another PC noble who won the ring in a bet against another noble.
Not a good main villain because of the whole "I am a weapon and a tool" brainwashing he went trough, but he's a good mid-game boss.

Just because we want to take over the kingdom doesnt mean that we are villains!

Tell me she's really bad at being evil.

Like, *really* bad.

Depends on how it's done. You'd have to have your head stuck pretty far up your own pretentious ass to call Skeletor, Megatron, HIM, or the like "edgy".

My next character is going to be a dhampir vampire hunter in Curse of Strahd. I'm actually considering talking with my DM to see if he's amenable to having my character actually turn into a vampire.

>not doing the "bright eyed aspiring hero" in reverse
>not having her fangirl over famous evil doers
>not having her try and make the situation more "cinematic" since thats how she thinks its meant to go

She should even get a Disney-esque "I want" song, but about being evil.

also a bunch of villain memorabilia, like signed posters of dark lords and such

also constantly try and join the dark lord but mess it up because X

Mine.
Unshakeable morals brought about by a desire to be an ideal hero the world needed, perfected by trial, error, suffering and lessons learned over years.

Someone who refuses to settle for a lesser evil and would rather die trying to find the third option.

broken mind of steel

done

>unshakeable morals
>desire to be the ideal hero
>the world needed

sounds like he's like 70 percent of the way there.

I have a dark elf thief who's personality is most like that of Disney's Aladdin crossed with Autolycus from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

It's not that she couldn't be a bad guy, it's just that I can't see her as being a full-on, endboss-style BBEG.

Well, the world really did need it one.
He's not a leader or even someone who can actually save the world. He's just a dude who tries very hard to inspire people who can.

If the events so far haven't done it, nothing can.

Time wounds all heals.

>Quoting with greentext
Ugh

Not really. She lacks any skills that would work for that. My previous PC, an unscrupulous news reporter, could absolutely do it, though.

>nothing can
time, inevitability, the darkness

everything falls eventually

>ugh
No, he's specifically NOT a BBEG. Pay attention.

The ugh was with regards to good necromancers.

You don't have to be capital E Evil to be a villain. She just has to be at odds with the party.

Maybe she takes "overprotective" to stifling, tyrannical levels.

It were a joke, mate.

The blood glows red on the mountain tonight
Not a savior to be seen
A victim in isolation
No heroes to intervene

The fool is howling like this battlelust inside
Wouldn't keep it in, never even tried!

Just let me in, don't dare fight back!
Be my damned tool and just let it fade to black
Appeal, just kneel, just let them know
Well, now they know!

Undergo, undergo
The ritual takes control
Undergo, undergo
The magic will take its toll!

I don't care
What they're going to say
The dark one rages on
The blood never bothered me anyway!

Meant to tag you with too

Yeah I'd say so. So far during the campaign she has 1)Lost her arm 2)killed a kid despite party's wishes because the child was beyond saving 3)Watched her kingdom burn thanks to villian 4)Lost all her morals and ideas after kingdom was destroyed 5)starting to develop the "by any means necessary" when it comes to purging the evil of the land

My guy is a boba fett rip-off, so yeah.

Yep. Played a wizard that got corrupted by a bard in a lotr game.
He just wanted to make the world a better place

>Wasp-type bug-person
>John Wick style "former" assassin-mage, looking to make some "honest" money in the local labyrinth

I mean, I don't want to go back to that life, but if I absolutely have to...

They already do. Multiple timelines are slowly staring to converge, and there's less a 'villain' version of the character, and more 'from a dead timeline so fucked they're unrecognizable'

She was halfway there at level 1.

Yes, she is an epic fallen minmaxed paladin/cleric of Shevarash that's currently dragging the party through Queen of Spiders doomguy style. Endgoal is killing Lolth somehow and then genociding the drow.

It's a shame Rick and Morty has such a terrible artstyle for porn, since infinite dimensions could make for some good stuff.

Cyberpunk character with a heavy distaste for cybernatics...
Time to bomb some clinical centers

Probably.

Easy. He just need to give in to his desire to say "fuck you" to humanity and let his obsession with power to rule him completely.

It's a gambling-addicted swashbuckler kind of gal, so she could easily be rewritten to decide to do some nasty stuff in the name of money or a thrill

My last pc was a villain. He just happened to be acting in a way which benefited the solar system, without the whole cliche ends justify the means horrible atrocity plans.

From a public perspective he was a bounty hunter famous for his reality tv show and its brutal "special effects".
From a legal perspective he was a terrorist who frequently committed crimes against humanity in the name of justice. He openly flaunted the law because quite frankly after a certain point the intersolar police could do fuck all about the party.

He retired as a politician, the worst kind of villain.

Rogues are an easy conversion

All of them probably. Even paladin could at least be a pretty scary antagonist. To the point of some people pissing themselves in fear. Fear is a good instrument of rehabilitation from his point of view. It allows to cover much more cases than just kindness and care. So he makes sure that people know that yes, he will give them a chance, but in case they fuck up this chance even lords of Hell and Abyss together won't be able to save them.

Bran, the fighter, could. He is a ruthless man, who would stop at nothing to keep order and safety.

Boson, the Giovanni Vampire could be The Man if the setting was cyberpunk. Blood cattle, all-controlling commercial network, brainwashing and the like.

Nutcase, the decker, is way too unstable for this, but could be a decent terrorist if his AI abusive gf asked him

Bartala the wizard could be a villain in the same vein as Boson.

Azavar the kinslayer is an evil barbarian who kills for fun and carries the skull of his elder brother, his first victim, and talks to him maniacally.

One of my former PCs is a villain.
My current PC has a splintered psyche, so a third sub-personality isn't out of the question.
Enough time in Barovia is probably going to convince her that she is the 'real' Tatyana and as such she's going to try and kill Ireena so she can have Strahd all to herself. The plan I have is that she believes the curse will lift when she shows Strahd 'true love' and makes him human again, allowing for a restart of the Zarovich bloodline.
Obviously, this line of thinking will head into disaster.

>tiefling bard, travelling storyteller
>has only vague memories of home and family, doesn't know where they are or how he lost them
>all he wants to do is find them and go back
>loves children and peaceful life

>cyberpunk world
>kangaroo hunter from the Australian outback
>went away from his desolate home to acquire his sick wife a set of lungs
>unwillingly got mixed up with a crime boss, currently working as a double agent for an organization that's trying to topple him
>just wants to get the lungs and go back home

They're not exactly villain material.

The letter from the Warden to Morrigan in Inquisition was so satisfying regardless of the game itself.

Please elaborate

wrong board, but i agree

>Neanderthal gains access to Veeky Forums

UNGA BUNGA ROCK WORKSHOP

My tiefling bard is chaotic good sweetheart. He currently has history of hanging around unsavory characters and mercenaries, but mainly seeing it as his main entryway into glamorous life of Adventuring. He is hero wannabe surrounded by people who'd rather make simpler and more pragmatic decisions for money.

That said his anarchistic streak, combined with his incredible charisma and intellect could make him absolutely wonderfully manipulative and toxic cult leader if things went sufficiently wrong with him.
He is well versed in history and arcana to twist and bend them to make his cultists believe him to be their saviour. And his temperamental and slightly hedonistic personality would give him that temptation motif.

He's just a dude making money for his family. If he became desperate it's not inconceivable that he would throw out his morals to keep supporting them.

>Father like Duergar Demolitionist
This is a hard one. He's gotta be in some rival party for him not to want to immediately try and make friends with those around him.
>Scrawny but determined Wood Elf Brawler
He's definetly a head strong and "anything for glory" type of person. I could see him take part on the wrong side of some war or a role like gastion for some backwards hamlet
>Ex-Hermit Halfling Barbarian Wererat
Already kind of a prick and a loner, just have to get on his bad side for him to be a good early game villian.

>chaotic neutral barbarian
For sure. Not a BBEG level villian but maybe a sidekick or a more personal story arc villain.

It's remarkably simple to make nice guys into villains. Make them desperate and have the desperation set them opposite the PCs. Or you can pull a Nox from Wakfu, where it's okay if he does awful things because once he wins he'll make it so none of it ever happened anyway.

Maybe I'm cracked, but I really like this idea.

Currently playing a Rogue in Pathfinder.

>Sent to serve as an observer and advisor to the main party by there employer for the questline.

>Has a strong distaste for all-non human species, especially the Tengu and most especially the Elves. With that said, has a mild soft spot for the Dwarfs, to the point where he just thinks of them as honorary humans.

>Generally on bad personal terms with the main party, but constantly continues to bail out individual party members despite him being a prick for the majority of the time.

>Actively has a fierce ideological rivalry with the main leader of the party over how the assignment should be handled, along with personal ideologies such as the worlds politics and espcially religion, namely the gods. Despite the two constantly saving one another, they have equally harmed or ruined one another's plans.

>Almost transitioned into evil after purchasing a slave, then after the slave chose to turn on him in a bid to escape, almost crippled him for life.

>Recently transitioned into Evil alignment after choosing to ignite a tribal genocide by spreading false information to the separate tribes, in a bid to protect the main party from having to deal with them later on. In another bid to complete his central objective, he convinced the Emperor of the nation they were currently in to ban religious Orthodoxy and to revise it into a state controlled religion to force extremist into the streets while the military is still thirsty for battle following the failed coup.

>Ultimately aiming to unite the human population of the world under a massive Alliance bound Federation, then to finally take the fight to humanities true enemies, the Elves.

While the main party currently has a direct enemy to fight, my PC's motives basically have him shaping into a 3rd party threat into the future.

That would just make them into antagonists, not villains.

My PC is chaotic evil, so yes.Hell, he even wants to destroy a particular country in universe.

Most of my recent PCs could, yes. In fact they were mostly evil-aligned, so uh... them not being a villain was only due to there being bigger fishes in the pond.

>Lawful Evil aasimar paladin
Could easily become a tyrant if given the opportunity. Already is one at her scale. Retired character, but slowly regrouping power in the background, so... if the DM wanted it, she could very easily become an antagonist.

>"Chaotic Evil"-ish post-apocalyptic otaku brawler junkie
Actually turned into a mutant and killed another group member before being put down, but that was, strangely, more tragic that all-out villainous on his part. He did not really have a choice. Too dumb to be *the* villain.

>"Lawful good" post-apocalyptic gentleman repairman
Harder, but could have been driven to despair. He could have been an antagonist by virtue of "utopia justifies the means", but he did not really have means to build an utopia anyway.

>Neutral evil tiefling wizard
More neutral than evil but very easy to see as a villain since she only cares about knowledge and magic, and only gives a damn about saving the universe because she'll learn a few things about its secrets on the way. She'll never be cruel, but she could very easily find herself on the wrong side of the fence if she finds it more interesting. Probably the kind of villain who'd genuinely see nothing personal in her strife against heroes, and regret the circumstances opposing them.

>Necromancer trying to figure out how to cast True Res as a 5e Wizard that will stab a bitch if their pride is sufficiently tarnished
If they didn't already somewhat qualify as a villain and have aspirations to Queen Bee the local magic academy, easily.
>Dwarf exiled from his city that takes up the unarmed arts and shuns monetary wealth for the corruption it breeds
Rallies the proletariat and starts the Dorfiet Union.
>innawoods elf drifting around the world that loves to smile and TRIES to not kill people as it's just easier to get through social norms without blood on your hands, but isn't above psychological torment to drive a point home
They'd probably be a worldwide boogeyman in the vein of Slendybendy as a figure that appears in the woods and terrorizes those that piss him off. No one ever dies unless they try to fight, but the next day in town the survivor always catches his gaze from among the rabble, locking eyes with a malicious grin and never being seen again.

>Desecrating the dead via dark magic
>Good
This meme needs to stop. Necromancy fucks with the target's soul, the entire point is that it is an evil magic that grants easy power.

>necromancy
>fucks with souls
This meme needs to stop. Making mindless undead binds necromantic forces to the body, nothing more, nothing less. Like a wild animal, the mindless undead need gear and supervision to keep them in line for domestication. Do you consider a wild bronco who bucks and partial tramples a wrangler evil? Or a wild dog that attacks a trainer? It's the same for the mindless undead.

It depends on which one you're talking about.

The mercenary certainly could, given the circumstances and the pay. He wouldn't be the childkiller, evil for the sake of evil type, but he might work for the BBEG if he's willing to pay enough.

The ranger, though? No way. He's dedicated to helping people, hunts orcs and demons for a living, and is dedicated to fulfilling his mission of destroying the evil that is about to surface, given to him by Mielikki herself. I don't see any case in which he could be evil.

My PC practically is a villain, and his main long term plan is trying to get the two largest nations on the continent in a war with each other so that hopefully one of them will destroy the other and he can reclaim his ancestral lands in it.
