>Shoot sideways >Waste ammo >Buy CGL books >And always and forever cut a deal with a dragon
I need runs. Good runs, bad runs, complex, straight forward, smart runs, dumb runs, I don't care what you got, I'm all tapped out here.
Nicholas Young
Remember everyone, if you buy CGL books. You're helping the dragons win.
Christian Foster
Have you tried running premades?
Asher Martinez
Have you considered taking the runners to a magical realm.
Parker Gray
>>Competent deck (300-500k) >>Programs (~10K) >>Agent (~36k), or (~72k) for 2 so you can use simple action spamming >>LOG/INT Bioware (~200k)
That's more nuyen than priority A resources gives you...
Lincoln Diaz
Don't do the first three but always and forever cut a deal with a dragon.
Kayden Murphy
...
Christopher Cox
You really only need about 250-350k for your deck. You really should only need one rating 6 agent which you can't buy at chargen anyway, so wait on that. You can usually just buy 1 or two cerebral boosters for 30-60k. An arm of god + machine pistol/smg. 50k Programs 10k That leaves you about 20-50k for whatever else you want.
Austin Torres
Yeah, that was in reference to the dude who wants to be a Prime Runner AND Rigger.
50k isn't even enough for street level rigging.
Dominic Moore
>Decker and rigger Maybe you could do it with a technomancer, but not with an ordinary decker. Just not enough nuyen to go around.
James Fisher
Tried to find out about paper version of whatever current core book(s) can be bought, but the official website is a mess of 90s eAIDS. Any good wiki style resources for Shadowrun?
Austin Adams
>Paper version >Bought Chummer no.. check the pastebin. Or at least buy used, please don't give CGL money.
Christian Miller
Yes. That was what we're saying and have been saying. Thank you for catching up.
Jose Cooper
>please don't give CGL money. Why not? t. new as fuck
Dylan Johnson
Use a commlink pseudo-deck at chargen (around 20k nuyen). Hint to the DM that you want to upgrade to a proper deck ASAP, but you couldn't afford one and not gimp yourself. As long as your GM isn't a complete shitheel he will silently thank you, because you just gave him material for several runs with the plot of your decker either getting enough cash to buy one, or stealing one off the back of a truck.
Congratulations. Player and DM working together to make an enjoyable game for everyone.
John Jackson
The higher ups have a history of embezzlement and it's severely impacted their ability to produce quality content for the game.
The sooner they go under or the license is given to another company, the better.
CGL is a shit company that releases mediocre products, case in point their 5th edition Shadowrun books are so poorly edited than half of them don't even have a worthwhile table of contents.
Also their senior staff were involved in massive fraud, stealing money from freelance writers and embezzled to fund home renevations. They then launched a disinformation campaign to hide the truth, and anyone that helped them had their characters written into Shadowrun canon.
On a side note, I just realised that I have over 1,800 non-cheese Shadowrun-themed character imagessaved on my computer. I think I need to stop.
Hudson King
I don't know why but I love it every time this image pops up.
Alexander Rogers
Post some
Elijah Parker
Because it's amusing to imagine that perhaps the most powerful and influential entity in the Shadowrun setting is just a trolling shitposter on matrixchan.
Jack White
Sure thing.
Bentley Adams
Any preference, or cute cyberpunk-ladies enough for you?
Anthony Miller
Holograms are the future.
Jace Russell
>Tell a friend about shadowrun and how there are dragons >He now wants to fuck a dragon >Argue with him about how that's a death sentence >Eventually get idea about how it could possibly do it >Do missions for a dragon to gain trust, being nothing but reliable and useful >Eventually save up enough favors and convince dragon to shoot a simsense porno with him to sell BTLs to all the perverts of the Sixth World >He can now die happy
I would never actually run a game like this but he told me to post it on here, and so I have.
Alexander Edwards
Alright, it seems Decker-Rigger is just too expensive an all accounts, from nuyen to skills. I guess I'll go with Prime Runner decker, go all in at chargen for it, and spend future karma/nuyen to become an all-around skill-monkey.
Jeremiah Scott
Is it wrong that this was kind of my first idea too? I can't help it, man, power is fucking hot.
Bentley Cox
If you absolutely need to control drones or vehicles, just hack them.
Levi Kelly
What a way to burn your Edge.
Zachary Flores
Did you know that IEs fucked dragons?
Dylan Williams
They get away with everything.
Carson Watson
lucky bastards
Evan Lewis
Correct. It's why dragons will never, ever fuck non-dragons again.
Brandon Cruz
The wizard mafia is making drugs, but a rival cartel wants you to shut that shit down. Break into a cyborg manufacturing plant and swap two brains The wizard mafia has kidnapped your fixer's dog and are holding it hostage. Save the dog, then kill them all. Lone star wants to steal the local police contract from KE (or vice versa), and hires you to break a bunch of serial killers and shit out of prison to make KE look bad. The wizard mafia, sick of your constant meddling, has hired assassins to kill you. Take out the assassins, then finish off the wizard mafia once and for all.
Thomas Bailey
Cute ladies with guns.
Also cute orcs woth guns.
And cute mechanic / mechanically inclined girls.
Jordan Martin
"No, no, no, I want to CONSENSUALLY fuck a Dragon."
Camden Hall
Holy shit, started looking at that Decker/Face concept and wow. Will a rating 2/3 deck get my team killed? Because the costs are straight up retarded. If you can buy a deck why are you even running?
Connor Smith
Break into a Warehouse Steal 100 Troll-Size Dildos Place them on the roof of building (chose a fairly low building) Cover them with combustible lube let them burn
>If you can buy a deck why are you even running? That is a very good question. Ware and Deck prices are enormous, big enough that many GMs either don't give you access to the Spider's Deck or make it self-destruct, simply due to the fact that 10% of an average deck is more than most runs pay. Most sane GMs cut the price of decks and ware in half
Julian Kelly
>Not at the point of doing 500k+ payment runs
The point of decks being so pricey is that they technically allow you to access the Matrix undeterred and to be a threat to megas. If they were super accessible the entire thing would be pointless.
Xavier Walker
>the entire thing would be pointless. What does that even mean
Nathaniel Diaz
Clearly allowing people to interact with a major part of the setting is something that shouldn't be allowed unless they spend a staggering amount of money on it.
Noah Price
Sorry I'm having brain farts today.
What I mean to say is that cyberdecks are a rare and specialized commodity. The Restricted rating means that to have one you need a license as a security spider or as a security contractor for the matrix.
A cyberdeck is not something kids buy (forget devgrl) for the hell of it. It's a very specialized micro computer capable of running top of the line programs. People who use cyberdecks either work for megas as spiders, high-end programmers (and even then) or as matrix technicians.
To make a comparison more apt, a cyberdeck isn't a home computer. Commlinks are smartphones and computers put in one, cyberdecks are hyper-specialized piece of hardware.
So the price is explained in it's definition, it's a specialist tool for accessing the backdoor of the matrix.
Angel Gutierrez
Is that actually a common houserule? I might be able to sell my GM on it, but I don't want it to cause problems with other prices later (like commlinks). Either way, let's say my decker had to burn down his hidey-hole and he's having to work his way up. What's the best way to hack on the cheap that won't get my crew killed? Are modified speciality decks a good idea?
Lucas Gonzalez
All of that explains the restrictions, not the price.
Brandon Lewis
The price is explained by the abilities the deck gives you.
Having both attack and sleaze is unique and would require a special system for it to be possible. Just by raw an attack dongle at rating 6 is over 100k. Now you can have one dongle at a time on a commlink but if you could have two it'd be 200k+ minimum and you'd still have no program slot.
Say a program slot is 50k per slot. A rating 4 deck has approx 200k worth of program slots, plus an attack and sleaze capable board of minimum 200k. And those are all approximate numbers.
Also maybe the price is that high because it's a seller's market and the corps don't want every script kiddie to be able to steal paydata or fuck with their hosts.
Jonathan Walker
Sure. Sleep now, various cybercuties later.
Mason Sanchez
Damn!
Aiden Thomas
sure, that might be a logical explanation. But it also leads to players saying >Fuck man, why are we even running if we could just steal some Deck and get more money than from other runs? Which leads to: A) Them not focusing on the run and instead on the Spider or B) Trying to take the deck but being denied (e.g. Self-Destructing Deck) or C) The GM having to jack up Run Rewards to give them a reason not to focus on the Spider (and even then they will likely want to steal it for additional money)
Lincoln Gonzalez
It also leads to them being pissed when they have to change ownership of the deck they stole and contend with the clusterfuck that is ownership rules.
A self-correcting problem.
Christian White
The main problem with what you're proposing is that the decker is on site.
Security spiders are never on site, they're always at the nearest corporate arcology or enclave and under security.
It's been in the lore that way for a long time. Same reason Security mages are also never on site.
Cameron Thompson
Why not just have fixers or johnsons lend or rent out a good cyberdeck for the duration of the run? you can still have a decent cyberdeck for most operations and save up for your own personal deck
Carter Davis
Why's the keeb's hand backwards?
Tyler Peterson
maybe that's why he took it off? >Fuck, they gave me a left hand
Isaac Diaz
Yekka, minor bug. Take household gremlins I or II on a cheap lifestyle, like street or squatter. Infinite money! It gets really funny with trolls because the +100% increase in lifestyle costs affects the money you get.
Charles Bell
In my defence, it doesn't say 'to a minimum of zero'. I'll have a look, shouldn't be a problem to fix.
>Use a commlink pseudo-deck at chargen (around 20k nuyen). It costs way more than that.
Adrian Peterson
>Why not? Because fuck those guys in particular. If they actually paid their employees it would be one thing. But they publish material without having paid their freelancers, cancel books after first drafts have already been completed and refuse partial payments, and are a bunch of embezzling cunts.
And, on top of all of that, most of their books for the past year or two have been fucking garbage.
If you have to buy Shadowrun books, learn German and buy the Pegasus books.
Andrew Reed
>Alright, it seems Decker-Rigger is just too expensive an all accounts, from nuyen to skills. Bingo.
Jeremiah Nelson
Are there rules for building a custom deck? Not slapping a dongle in a commlink, and not modifying an existing deck. Building a custom one, stats and all, outright.
Joseph Brooks
It's interesting, but it's old and doesn't use the full range of SR5 material to reach its conclusions.
Ayden Howard
I can probably guess the answer, but has 5e provided any information on Australia beyond the rather outdated information from Target: Awakened Lands from 3e?
Carson Cruz
no, sadly, but there should be.
Evan Roberts
5e's provided information on Spain, Metropole, and the Carribbean League (especially Havana). There's also a lot of good new stuff for Cheyenne and Hong Kong, and some bad new stuff for Denver and Boston. Aside from that, they've provided fuckall new location information.
Caleb Ward
Well, there is also some german stuff, i think.
Hudson Carter
I don't read German, so I wouldn't know.
Wyatt Martinez
Excuse me are you guys deckers or skiddies? Novahot or GOD home.
Elijah Walker
There's also info on Constantinople, iirc.
Michael Young
You could try bludging the old ones to work on 5e, but I doubt that would end well.
Go on a Lostech run for a cache of the rarest Pepes known to metahumanity. Go on another one to find something capable of reading an IDE hard drive so you can actually get the damn things off it.
Hudson Perez
Some things should stay buried, and Pepe is one of them.
Thomas Robinson
One of the SR freelancers who I had the pleasure to play with actually said it was something they wanted to add in Data Trails but only the dongle and small mod stuff made it in, didn't know why.
When I ran with his group he gave me the homebrew and I'm currently trawling throught my drives to see if I had saved it.
Yeah, I've skimmed through the 3rd, 4th, and 5e ones in the mega and adjusted the ones I liked
I'm not even sure what my own magical realm is
It sucks dude.
What would a wizard mafia even look like? A room of Leonards from Ugly American?
Burning Troll Cock sounds like a band
Who would pay money to ressurrect a decades old meme that in current times has already been beaten worse than a dead horse?
Nathan King
>Not wanting to study a powerful and timeless meme for Megacorp marketing programs to reverse engineer.
Luis Hall
Horizon would just bury it as "fake news" and you know it.
Thomas Robinson
Have them switch into a new genre without knowing it. Either noir, or pulp, superhero, or crime drama to name a few. Then run stuff for that.
Doctor N. Erjee has used stadowrunners & stole diamonds being used for research by Horizon, the fixer calls the players big red commlink. Will they foil the evil Doctor before he uses the diamonds to punch a whole in the background mana count & fuck up everything?
A body full of wax was dumped in the alley behind a bowling alley, a Lone Star detective hires the players who he has dealt with before. Wacky banter & quirky characters help the team solve the case.
The Man with the Monowhip struck again, him & his army of CFD freaks have expanded their territory selling more & more of that new Novacoke , this time he has killed someone close to the players, hey may deal with crazies & kingpins all the time, but this time its personal
Of all the Hosts in all of Emerald City she had to jack into mine... a thin little sprite with fractal code that drew you in, made you feel big as a giant & small as a flea at the same time. I hadn't seen her since that night in Paris 5 years ago. She told me she had a run. A man did her wrong. Stole some fancy tech piece she inherited from the girl who made her, who set her free. I had thought i was free. Free of her. Free to drown my sorrows in BTLs till my eyes crossed & my soul didnt scream. Well, i could never say no to a dame. I gotta Code see.
Nolan Parker
I was thinking like, pinstripe suits, rods with buttstocks and foregrips, wands with pistol grips, etc.
Connor Peterson
Is there an Italian mob in 2076? I know there's the Korean Soulpas, the Triads, Irish mob, Russian mob, and Yakuza, but what about the Italian mob?
Aaron Campbell
yeah, there's an italian mob. They own the southern half of italy, iirc.
Asher Nelson
How would you go about seducing a dragon?
Sebastian Scott
What happened the last time you burned a point of edge, /srg/?
Jason Sullivan
Mr.Johnson hires runners to collect evidence and his money back from the Sunset Gym gang, a trio of steroid-abusing metas who kidnapped, tortured, drugged him with Deepweed, set him on fire, and ran him over with an Americar in an attempt to kill Mr.Johnson.
Jacob Richardson

Michael Perry
My character survived to the end of the game. By which I mean the GM cancelled the game.
Bentley Scott
Did it work?
Robert Nelson
...
Joshua Hill
And some that are less fun
Brody Baker
Yes,
Hestaby, a Tir Noble elf lady, & my runner got into a steamy situation...
I was actually surprised the GM allowed it & i expected a horrible fallout when i released the simsense recording on the Matrix
Nicholas Bell
Not really. It does if you increase the attack/stealth dongle, but with Smoke and Mirrors running it'll be high anyway. After all, it's only temporary until you find a 'real' deck.
Brayden Price
...
Aiden Cruz
My group has no matrix support. Can i have it where during a run the players just plug in a Metalink with a data tap, given to them by a Decker/TM prepared with a program/agent/sprite, into something & a program/agent/sprite does the thing?
Jace Harris
Specifically, they tell you that it was Istanbul, now it's Constantinople. For reasons left unexplained because there's no rational reason for it to be so
Oliver Anderson
Same situation, PCs are a street sam, face, rigger, and infiltrator. Fixer sent them on a datasteal and gave them two single-use comlinks. First one would fuck with security at the lab, with better effects the closer they installed it to the network security room. Second one would pull the data they need if plugged in to the correct terminal. They left the first comlink plugged into the network when they left and got the fixer's apartment blown up.
Joseph James
I mean, the name change would make sense if the greeks took advantage of the seccesion to go full Megali, but they didn't, so *shrug*
Josiah Parker
I got a street sam with a control rig & a Roadmaster, an infiltrator & a DMNPC facemage because they both made goddamn murderbots & will die without magic back up & someone to charm/negotiate.
Dominic Brown
There are reasons. They're just nobody's business but the Turks.
