Infinity General - Umbra Reaction Edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where the a deadly alien race looks a lot like 1990s-era FMV cutscenes.

Last Thread:

Why isn't the unknown ranger nearly as auto-include as a veteran Kazak? I know SSL2 is amazing but does that outweigh chain of command or a molotok specialist so much?

Asawira is full of shit.

So basically what you're saying is Fatties exist in the Infinity-verse.

AP HMG + Sixth Sense L2

Veteran Kazak is way more straight forward while being the same point value.

This

Is trying to get the most out of NBW+T2 CCW presumably much more of a pain in the ass compared to SSL2+LFT?

would you an oznat? how about a tohaa?

Lack of shock immunity

Scavenger an autocannon, obviously

What's the interaction of a T2 CCW and Scavenger? If I one-shot a guy because it did 2 wounds, do I get a weapon out of it? Or MUST it only be used as a Coup d'Grace?

If he's dead you can't scavenge him. If you want to scavenge a 1 wound guy, you should just punch him with NBW or shoot him

You one shot him and he dies. You don't get anything.

Can't do that to your own guys.

Yeah since flamethrower has way more range than CC.

Also AP HMG

I like where your head is at.

>can't do it to your own guys
If it helps I was imagining stealing a monkey autocannon or a HRC

This. It's a little goofy when you think about it but 'dems the rules.

I prefer a Zerat or a Sygmaa.

Are Sygmaa Tohaa brainwashed?

Painting guns and armor: metal or gray?

yes.

Are loyalist Tohaa brainwashed?

Blue and orange.

>zerat
why is they so cute

The EI did nothing wrong.

something something I had a breakup and he took her side 'cuz he's a thirsty motherfucker.

Would you like to know more?

Can you form your own WarCor? Name it Utopia.

Oznat no. Tohaa yes. Sygmaa maybe.

Was she an oznat?

Yes to both but my heart belongs to oznat.

I do metal for guns and try to find any excuse to put color on the armor.

>Would you like to know more?
>some nerd thinks a girl might have sex with him if he is nice to her enough times
Nothing much else to see, and nothing much left to say about it.

Is the Oznat muzzled? I like my limbs, I don't want them to go away. I'd take a Zerat or Raizot pilot instead if possible (or the female Vanguards that apparently exist?)
And is the Tohaa a filthy Trinomial scumbag or a noble Symaa citizen.

Dude, you aren't an alpha of a back she wants to lead. Don't be afraid of red pussy.

Not really sure what EI-enhanced comlogs do besides feed war propaganda. I suppose the Trinomial basically told the Tohaa on frontline planets that to be captured by the CA was to be subjected to hell on this plane of reality but to quote Siegfried: "Nothing happened." I don't know.

I'd let her lead my back.

I believe EI-linked comlogs act exactly as normal, just with the occasional "hail our mistress, the EI".

>EI tries to promote it's image as a sexy, cute girl to compete with ALEPH

They're integrated into your cube so they can add your brainpower to glorious EI's processing power. Also allows for easier monitoring.

>i-it's not like I want to transcend with you or anything, b-baka!

â–¶

They thought that they where crude and funny. Ancient Greeks apparently thought that a man with a large penis would be automatically stupid and ill mannered. It was also thought that men with big dicks couldn't father children as easily. Thus small penises where seen as signs of virility.

athenias is not the same as greek.Spartans loved the long dick and they true greeks.

It's ambiguous. Because the statement of life not changing really (even improving) is pretty fair, until you get to the suspicious point of oh you know, every citizen receiving an 'upgraded' brain implant. The fervor the Sygmaa troops have also is a bit out there, they're much more adamant than even the Morats and Shasvastii are at why they want to burn down the Tohaa.

Their obsession with subverting parts of Tohaa culture (some of which would actually make them more useful to the EI) seems to come from a genuine place. The EI doesn't seem to like directly controlling things on a large scale, probably because it takes a bunch of processing power and her touch is effectively poison to any possibility of Transcendence.

So Funduq is Turkish. So it makes sense for Quapu, for the non-merc and non-elite to come from the place their defending

If I use a Spec-Ops, could I include them in a fireteam? For example: could a Keisotsu-based spec-ops be in a Keisotsu core fireteam?

Yes.

Yes

You know, looking at their units I'm suddenly not sure. There are a lot of mercenary options and options of units across Haqqislam. Like, maybe the high command will be mostly from Funduq but I could also see Haqqislam rotating a lot of soldiers and officers in order to promote "Haqqislam Undivided."

Am I missing some cool synergy with the marauder sniper profile? Is it the MSV1 that makes it good?

Oh my

Comlogs aren't necessarily a brain implant, I believe.

It's good because it allows him to hunt and murder Camo and Memeitism units and be a threat to TO Camo.

The Sniper's range band is weird with Forward Deployment since the range band wants you to be further back, especially if you are hunting Camo units who have Infiltration.

At the same time, you could look at the Heavy Pistol as his primary weapon to camp objectives and the Sniper as a weapon of opportunity.

You're playing against Shock. Your opponent wins the roll and picks deployment, you have to set up first on the crappy side. After you deploy your opponent sets down a link of regulars with 2 multisniper sappers. They are on an elevated position that overwatches most of the board. It will be difficult to advance without dealing with them first. You still have your reserve model to place. How do you crack this nut user?

Comlogs aren't, but cubes are. All the Sygmaa got new cubes synched with the EI network..

Don't fuck up terrain set up with such a clear good side / bad side.

Also Smoke Grenades. Don't crack the nut, win the game

Blue, gray, green, black, yellow ir green for fibre
Green, black, gray, wood, white, magenta, blue or red for weapons

*impersonates behind you* nothin personnel... kid

The terrain set up is supposed to have a good/bad side. And having 2 sapper snipers that can see a large portion of the board is pretty easy since they bring their own cover. We usually don't play super dense so snipers can work pretty well.

I've only brought her once when I played combined, I was going second and she just died. I need to try her out more. That's definitely an answer.

I'm starting to dislike 'goodside-badside' since the advantage of deployment choice is starting more and more to be the best scenario. Think of it this way.

>Pick deployment
>Get best side
>See opponent's deployment
>Counter-deploy as needed
>See opponent's reserve
>Place my reserve

Your enemy before all of this has a choice
>Get alpha striked or surrender the last turn of the game

Even though several scenarios favor 2nd player, there's always strength in going first and forcing a defensive deployment if you know what you're doing. A blind defensive deployment is even more devastating.

When in doubt, pick deployment.

Terrain shoukd be a little unbalanced , so the picking sides isn't so irrelevant, even with deployment order. There is of course a point it's too much. If one side is full of cover and sniper towers and the other has two small rocks and a cabin, it's probably a bad game.

Depends on so many factors you didn't include in your post. If both snipers see most of the board, it's a bad terrain setup.

What's your favorite Overdron profile?

HRL for cheap?
Dual Sniper for long range impact template shenanigans?
HMC for winning face to faces?

The intent wasn't that they can both see the whole board. Just that you'd need to deal with at least one of them to advance. I just kinda wanted to see what people bring in their lists that'd deal with such a threat. I'm contemplating bringing a Moira in my lists because one of my opponents fields this link regularly and I've found it's a huge pain in the ass.

HRL or HRMC. I don't know why they made sniper profile or the model.

>I'm starting to dislike 'goodside-badside' since the advantage of deployment choice is starting more and more to be the best scenario.

I tend to agree with you. Deployment is usually a huge advantage and you often want to go second. I've only met a couple people who will pick second turn after having to deploy first.

They're all good. I was initially skeptical of the plasma sniper since it's in many ways just a more expensive HRL, but plasma is such a fucking nasty ammo type that even it has its place imo.

Why, yes. Let's all start to play with mirrored box terrain. It is, after all, only fair.

But you have Unidrons for that already.

Burst 3 with albedo is pretty stronk, especially with BS13 to compensate for the lack of assisted fire. I wouldn't use the Unidron as an aggressive unit outside of particular situations (mostly to take out enemy snipers before sending in shorter ranged rambos), whereas the Overdron is a solid rambo in and of itself.

This is all vanilla, mind you. It may have less merit in OCF with Unidrons being linkable.

There is a clear difference between playing with a random yet fair terrain distribution, and being able to deploy a nest of multi-snipers and sappers so that they can zone the board right from the get-to.

If you do want heavily skewed terrain and deployment, then agree upon it before the game starts and you deploy your units.

How do you Vanilla CA user? I want to play with those sexy aspects but that low order count hurts. What do you use for specialists? Are the imetrons reliable enough that you'd take them in your main group? What do you use for ARO?

This is a list I'm thinking about.

a few threads back people told me it couldn't be done, and either you play onyx, you play morats, or you play pan-o

>either you play onyx, you play morats, or you play pan-o
What? You can play whatever you damn well pleas, though the frogs and shas could do with an update.

I think you misunderstood. Many units in Onyx and Morats are only good in those sectorials because vanilla options are usually better. Vanilla CA is imo best CA power wise.

Meant for

Shrouded are fantastic if you need specialists. Just dump one or two into a list and you can push button good.

I tend to limit myself to one Imetron in the main group. Keeps things going relatively smoothly when everything fucks up horribly.

You're picking well for ARO. Noct ML and Q Drone are the kings, but Maakrep sniper, Soggy feuerbach, and buffed Unidron ML/sniper are honourable mentions as well.

Eh, Morats sort of have that problem but all the units that are good in Onyx are still fine in vanilla. The only ones that really take a hit in effectiveness are Nexus and Unidrons because no links.
And even the monkeys still have great shit like Sogarats, Rasyats and Daturazi, and to a lesser extent Vannies, Kurgats and Suryats. Maybe even Rodoks on a good day.
The only bad ones are the ones based entirely around linking (Oznats and Raktoraks) and the ones overpriced and outclassed by Shas/Sygmaa equivalents (Zerats and Yaogats). Oh, and Raicho, but nobody really cares about that whore.

for better or for worse I just ordered my first models for this game

I decided not to buy a whole list worth of models at once, and instead just a couple blisters to paint up while I practice learning the rules. None of the models I just bought might ever see a real game, from what I've read about those units, but maybe they will be fun to paint anyway.

Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for in this great game of life.

What did you pick up, user?

>boylovers
>big dicks
Choose one

Hell nah, you wanna set up the terrain to favor your list as much as you can no matter the side.

Although personally I just make sure either side has an overall "plotline" for the player to follow.

Those people are goddamn fools.

I'm looking at Raicho. I'm kind of digging a TAG that will never fail a Guts Roll and (in sectorial) will never have to worry about Loss of Lieutenant.

Not only are you shoving your Suryat Lt down their throat but also a TAG.

Just take Soggy for a ride instead. He's just as much of a good time for half the price.

Raicho is only good for bullying.

That's why the pilot looks so confused and frustrated. Always on the lookout for Morat wedgie attempts.

Soggy is slow and pray EI the opponent won't bring anything targeting BTS.

He's not slow. He's not quite TAG speed but 4-4 movement is totally acceptable, especially when you can fit a couple more orders in to compensate.

BTS can be a bit of a concern when it comes into play, but aside from hacking (which fairy dust can handle) there isn't much that targets it. Against Tohaa or maybe JSA I might switch out ol' Soggy for a Suryat haris.

Well, breaker rifles are becoming pretty common.

Question:

What size are objective markers?
I've looked over the new ITS 9 rules and some core book scenarios, but didn't find any clear statement on the base size of objectives.

Antennas seems to be 40mm base and beacons/panoplies are 25mm?

Just use 40mm/poker chips. Those are the kind Warsenal gave out at latest Interplanetario

Yeah, it's kind of hard to write code when someone is constantly stalking and annoying you for no particular goal.
Source: life.

Sapper besides mimetism won't be a cruz here.

You get cover if you are higher then the enemy unit even if you don't have sapper

If you're going second you probably don't put her in enemy DZ.

Wait, wasn't there also an islamic republic in addition to the sultanate? Are muslims in infinity as balkanized as in rl?

Typical way of dealing with defensive links is Smoke + MSV2 or some shotgunner infiltrator/drop troop.
Or just smoke up the field and go for the objectives, hiding your guys at the end of the turn.
Riot Grrl Haris with ML could make short work of one of those though.

They're usually 40mm. When I got the 2014 ITS pack from Customeeple only the Beacons were 25mm.
Also you could look at the printable objectives PDF.

There's at least 4 countries on Bourak IIRC. I remember Sultanate, Califate and Khanate.

Not really. There's what, 6 in the whole game?
Locusts and Zhayedan could be trouble, I suppose, but CSU and Zhanying don't exactly leave me shaking in my boots. And if a Samaritan or Massacre+friends are going after your big dude you have more to worry about than some piddly little breaker rifle.

Besides, when breaker is involved it's not BTS3 vs BTS6, it's BTS2 vs BTS3. Not a particularly impressive difference. Viral and E/M are the much bigger threats, and the latter tends to be best defeated by dodging (which Soggy happens to be very good at). Viral is definitely a counter to Sogarats, which basically just means you maybe send in someone else to deal with Loup-Garous/Lasiqs/Sforza/Lunah and take Suryats instead against Tohaa.

Smoke combo is only really useful for making sure other link members don't interfere.
And I'm not sure I like the chances of burst 2 BS13 against burst 2 BS15 on your active turn. If you win you've really fucked the link, but that's a big if.

How do I get my hands on alternate weapons and arms? I want to make a tuareg doctor amongst other things.

That's why you go with a high burst weapon on the Intruder.
Also don't forget you still get Cover and Camo bonuses while negating their Mimetism. So that's BS13 vs BS9.
Doesn't look as bad now, does it?

Think of them like provinces, Bundesländer or States.

From the fluff they seem to be quite autonomous, with their own political system but a nationwide parlament + presidental cabinet.
Military is also national, with soldiers be assigned to the provincial army, who supplement their forces with some specialities. (Mercs for Funduq and the caval; hassassin with the sand people)
