There may be a new solo archive appearing in the PDF share thread in the near future, an user has mentioned he's working on it.

Homebrew system, playtesting one solo character and how far he can go down a Gauntlet with random floors and increasing difficulty.

Choke the Chicken

Dwarf fortress.

I just play King of Dragon Pass.

Rogue Trader.

I just make myself a character, a ship and go adventure using the random system generator, and the random adventures generator.

CRPG, m8.

Are those all in the core book?

In the Stars of Inequity book.

Also interested in the first and third.
A friend is obsessed with kancolle I can get him to really explain it

Magic Realm is an old fantasy adventure game from the 70's. It's infamous for being incredibly complex. Randomly lay out the tiles to build the world, seed it with randomly pulled monsters and treasures, and start exploring. There's a computerized version that, while you'll still need to read the rules to actually know what you're doing, makes the game a whole lot easier to play. There are like a dozen different classes you can play as, some stealth, some combat, etc, and the strategies for each can be really different.

In Fields of Fire you are a commander of an infantry company; really a commander, not just a player controlling individual units. There are random potential contacts which may or may not be an actual enemy, but you only find out when you engage with them. It's more about issuing orders to your infantry units, who react to things using a pretty rudimentary "AI" set of rules, and hoping that they end up in the right spots to actually be effective. It's weird, if you're used to other tactical wargames where you act like a single person occupying the mind of each individual unit; it's more about trying to balance effective lines of communication with the tactical concerns of your actual mission objectives.

I've never played a single player rpg....if X amount of unscheduled time comes up I usually have one of my hobbies / crafts to do, or video games.

But....I keep seeing some of these and a lot of what I've read looks pretty interesting. Found one called Utopia Engine so I might give it a crack.

Anyone have good suggestions and what they offer?

Also, don't you kinda just feel weird sitting there rolling dice and talking to yourself?

Its getting a sequel soon! sixages.com/

I am pretty excited

When I play solo RPGs, I write rather than talk to myself.

Don't talk to yourself, write that shit down. It makes it feel more solid, and makes it harder to go back and start undoing things, which is really bad for the experience IMO.

I've never even considered that. I already find writing (ideas, letters, poetry, journaling, etc.) to be pretty cathartic.

This kinda shifts my perspective on it quite a bit.

These are rpgs designed to be played by only one person? Where do I start? I spend most of my time alone anyway

Skim the pastebin, grab some PDFs.

If you like writing, maybe check out Quill, it's a game where you write a letter as a fictional person.
There's also De Profundis, which is a much more detailed game about Lovecraftian correspondence. It's meant for several players to write to each other, but also has a one player "journal" mode where you write your character's descent into madness.

I've really been enjoying solo play of the Dark Souls board game, It adds just enough randomness to make each playthrough different (especially in item drops, which really make you think about how you're going to build your character) while still feeling strategic because fighting becomes instinctual

I'm going to try playing Quill. Playing D&D by myself seems a little bit...weird. Ho would I prevent myself from not using the knowledge I have in my own advantage? Ditto for CoC.

Well, you avoid settling some things until it comes up, and use a GM emulator to decide questions that are up in the air.

I seem to recall some solo blog dude also invented a "Secret System" whereby under certain circumstances you have to revisit something you thought was true and make it false or vice-versa. Which sounds kinda like a fun houserule to me, even for multiplayer games.

Thoughts on Utopia Engine?

Any suggestions for someone who's never tried it? Fantasy, combat simulator, gritty realistic or high fantasy, doesn't matter.

Hmm. If you want a tactical fantasy combat simulator with single player support, maybe try Two Hour Wargame's hybrid rpg/wargame Swordplay.

It's here, under the Free games. You might grab Chain Reaction 2015, too, as that's the base rules that Swordplay is built on, so it may be handy if you're unclear about something.

Pretty much every game in there has solo support, as well as two-player co-op.

I prefer the modern guns stuff, but if you have some question about the rules I can help you try to suss it out. THW writes incredible stuff, but their writing is not always clear, and their editing is sometimes a little bit like a garage band's demo tape. Still not as bad as Mongoose though

Conjectural Roleplaying GM Emulator is a pretty decent start if you have an idea/story you want to play out.

Yeah I was gonna say... how is this thread not bait.

Is either a girl or a man without penis

Is there a way to download all of these without having a mediafire account and without doing it all one by one?

Not really, Mediafire sucks like that. But some user's planning on a big Solo mega, which might be up in a couple of days. Oh hey, I remembered I posted my Solo folder for him a while back:

mega.nz/#F!VJsDgBhS!NDklouCp5IOavU_pj31dhQ

It's kind of a mess, though.

How to host a dungeon is my favorite game, it's a map building and storytelling solo game, I think it's online somewhere for free

I like to play freeform RP games with myself. I call it "daydreaming".

Castle Ravenloft. Either playing or making new scenarios/monsters/heroes. It's a very modular and fun system for single player.

I might play Dungeon Quest more if it wasn't a pain in the ass to set up so much cardboard.

Nothing like cracking open a case of Sherlock Holmes: Consultant Detective.

Google Plus is fucking awful, but there's a pretty decent solo rpg community on it: plus.google.com/communities/116965157741523529510

There's also a solo wargaming magazine which often veers into a bit of roleplaying, it costs money but at least it's available in (paid) PDF now: lonewarriorswa.com

You don't even really have to write it down in detailed form, just a few notes and maybe an aar, but of course you can if you want to.

Masturbation.

Wow, hilarious and original. None of us would have thought of that joke, especially the guy who already posted it eight hours ago. You must be a riot at parties.

I will say that solo gaming is one of those things where you can take a break from the game to down some vodka and watch some porn. This is, of course, one of the advantages of writing brief notes as you play - you can leave things and come back a few hours or a day later and pick the game back up.

You can also drink some wine and screw your partner, or go read a book instead. There are many options!

that looks epic

Myself, I've just picked up my first ever GMT / VICTORY GAMES / AVALON HILL tier chit game. Vietnam 1965-1975 and I'm slowly learning the rules. It's a slot and hard work, but rewarding as things fall into place. Hardest part is needing space

Every time we have one of these threads at least five people come in to make masturbation jokes. It reminds me of David Sedaris:

>Near the cash register was a bowl of glass eyes and a sign reading “DO NOT HOLD THESE GLASS EYES UP AGAINST YOUR OWN EYES: THE ROUGH STEM CAN CAUSE INJURY.”
>I talked to the fellow behind the counter and he said, “It’s the same thing every time. First they hold up the eyes and then they go for the horns. I’m sick of it.”
>It disturbed me that, until I saw the sign, my first impulse was to hold those eyes up to my own. I thought it might be a laugh riot.
>All of us take pride and pleasure in the fact that we are unique, but I’m afraid that when all is said and done the police are right: it all comes down to fingerprints.

Skyrim, or final fantasy tactics.

If I'm playing by myself, it's time for vidya rpgs.

That's four, we need just one more to complete the set. I'll wait, 'cause you know, refractory period.

Squad Leader. It's WWII tactical combat in Europe, from street fighting in Stalingrad, to armored advances across snow-covered roads in the Ardennes, it's up to YOU to make the decisions that will --
Just kidding.

Magic the Gathering
High Tide, Petal Festival, Manaless Dredge, Mono Red Storm, etc.

Hey, there we go! Thread finished, we can all go home now.

zombicide.... execution force... mansions of madness... Russian Roulette...

Dominion

No need to get upset over how some people play with themselves.

This, DS single player is a great experience, it's a shame adding players turns it into a brutal clusterfuck and a boring grindfest at the same time.

TTRPG are very much a group experience for me.

The most honest answer I can give is
