> The world is made up of nine separate realms which are linked by rare naturally occurring portals and a few ancient artificially created gates

> The realms orbit the same sun and their cycle is maintained by an invisible network of energy lines

>The sun is not a ball of fire but in fact the light and radiance of heaven where the gods live.

> The gods are mostly neutral concerning mortals, they don't view them as important enough to be bothered with one way or another. Of course, sometimes a bored god will put a curse or blessing on someone or leave an artifact near a village, and every now and then some hero or villain will arise that's interesting enough to draw their attention.

>Nature spirits are everywhere and they do little else other than drink, fuck, and take baths; the witnessing of any such activities will likely leave you blind.

>the stars are holes in the fabric of reality to the plane of spirits
>thus, magic is stronger at night

>There are some plants that, instead of feeding on sunlight, feed on the magical energy of the stars.
>These plants can grow upto a dozen feet in height a single night

The Moon is the after life

>Magic on the whole is near LOTR style; tough to learn, unpredictable, etc. Enchantments are a lot easier to do than spells, so it's the most common magic.
>this, of course, means enchanted space boats to reach the moon and travel between realms

>Beings from The Beyond threaten both The Moon and Humanities Cradle
>this remains only somewhat entertaining to the gods

>There are tales of other, older worlds that were lost in an old cataclysmic war
>At certain times of the year astrologers can spot unidentified heavenly bodies as they skirt closer the the nine realms

>Huge clouds of gas and dust flow along the energy lines crackling with a dangerous mixture of static and magic energy
>Ancient machines, long since forgetting their purpose, prowl their deepest depths.

>astrologers speculate the realms were once one, but sundered in an ancient war that shattered the world and tore the stars into the sky

>the world is inhabited by humans, lizardpeople, ratfolk and 15 foot tall mantismen

>tfw you've been slowly building a setting upon several hundreds of planets orbiting the same sun, all of which are can be connected by an ancient network of oblivionesque gates
>the inhabitants of the planets are usually too busy with their own shit to deal with reactivating them
>see this thread
O-oh...Okay

>The beast folk were once humans, denizens of three cities, but have since been cursed for their sins.
>The lizards for their cruelty, the rats for their treachery, and the mantises for their pride.
>Their Empires now lie in ruin.
Excerpts taken from Octasio the Elders "Of The Races"

> There are two conflicting realms, the realm of Order, and the realm of Chaos. The realm of Order is a never-changing and completely silent metallic field, and the realm of Chaos is an ever-shifting maelstrom of color-changing sand.

Nothing under the sun is new user, originality is overrated, execution is what counts.

>all matter is made from four+1 elements

>matter from other realms is incredibly unstable when it spends too much time in a different realm than its realm of origin
>eventually this matter will start radiating massive magical energy and eventually disintegrate
>smuggling large chunks of matter from other realms to power magical rituals, enchantments and machines is common.

You ruined it

>This makes human "lead" particularly desirable because of it's mass to cost ratio

Parts of the ringworld?

> Only a single realm is inhabited by humans, lizard people, ratfolk, and 15 ft tall mantis men, in other realms these races are much rarer

I tried downplaying them, just move on

>this has prevented any one empire from conquering every realm, at least for long, due to the danger to their own soldiers if they spend too much time away
>that said, many of the weaker realms are exploited by stronger wealthier realms through the use of proxies and traitors
>one realm was almost entirely mined out of existence to fund the massive energy requirements of a now defunct asshole empire

Jesus Turtlefucking Christ you ruined it.

Man is nothing but a pawn in the larger scheme of things, and are like cattle for the actual soldiers to fight this war between Order and Chaos. Unlike the other races, they were not created by any god, and randomly evolved. They don't have a soul or any affinity to any realm or god, which makes them naturally resistent to the elder magic of the two realms.

>Gods worship Order or Chaos as higher concepts. Their wars in the Sun are so bright and violent they illuminate the realms.

Jesus christ, I've never seen a post kill a make a setting thread so well.

> inb4 cat ladybois

It wasn't ruined until you fags decided to not ignore it

t.furrfag

>like the setting so far
>retard posts furshit
>roll with punch and decide to try and salvage the setting
