1. Don't play with people you don't like. If it's tournaments or some public thing, don't go there and tell the organizer why you didn't go.
2. Realistic armor > skimpy armor. Female space marines are non-canon, so basically what said.
3. Don't buy stuff you don't like and always leave customer reviews, especially negative ones, if you have constructive feedback. You probably won't believe it, but companies actually do read feedback e-mails people send them. Unless it's something like "I HATE FUCKING WOMEN REEE GET OUT OF MY HOBBY" etc.

It's the free market at work. These companies think there's money to be made in changing their image, so they're changing it. If you want that to change, you need to exercise your power as a consumer and prove them wrong by not consuming. Once they start to realise there's no money in changing, or that there's more money in staying the same, they'll resist change.

Twitter is not an apt comparison. It is a highly specialised form of free social media competing in a flooded market. Traditional gaming is a high-end luxury good. The latter is much more vulnerable to free market fluctuations and consumer input.
