My recent Inalla deck. I got all the pieces for it believing the original C17 deck just needed a few upgrades to it. It does not get any speed or power built up in any games. I had a better time running Mairsil with the Wizards precon.

Its also bad because some of the key cards in it are also key in the Mairsil deck I'm making.

This is my wife.
A lot of people think she can't do anything that he boss already doesn't do better, but I really appreciate that fat ass.

>What deck do you regret building? Why?

Oloro. Was new to the game and magic as a whole, thought lifegain was cool. Turned out Oloro is super boring and draws a ton of hate.

>Thread Question
Pic related? I built a skittles deck that I barely ever play, and I sort of regret it, but at the same time not really

you see, I knew I was going to play the deck very rarely going in. I basically built it as an arms race deterrent. I've only had to break it out once or twice to btfo the guy playing tryhard stuff.

The cards aren't entirely useless though, I use the same shell for my monoblack gonti deck when I don't need to infect people with skithiryx

Jace please.

Why does nobody play this card? You can make creatures unblockable, you can make creatures not able to block, you can fuck with other people's attacks. The card is great.

It's a mana sink that does nothing on its own.

1-4 I pick commander back up
5-9 I finally sell my cards and move on
0 I be a man and dont leave my decisions to chance

Haven't you been keeping up with the story.
He had some rebound milf and now is moving on to greater horizons.

well considering she sucks off sweaty nerds like jace I think shed serve well as /edhg/s cum dump

You best get ready to duel, faggot, because I am coming for you.

Previous thread link

Include it next time, otherwise you're good.

bring her too, I could use a good bj under the table while we play

Building a five color mana base, should i value the 3 mana tap lands more than basics? they're unfetchable but that fixing is nice and on another note, I wouldnt want to topdeck a tap land. any thoughts?

How's skittles in 1v1? I have one sitting around and i'm considering building a deck for 1v1 when there's only one dude to play with at my LGS

No just use checklands, shocklands and basics plus some 5 color lands

alright, should I go 10 check 10 fetch 10 shock? and then fill with rainbow lands and basics, should I have at least one of every basic or would that change depending on my curve, for example I dont have alot of white or blue but lots of red and green

Typically you want more green because you should have a handful of ramp in there and it really sucks not being able to cast it.

thanks for the tips! cheers.

Thread Question: Ishkanah ended up not working due in the many variants I tried of her. I could probably get it to work, but the disparity in themes messed it up. It was a bad Doran deck, a bad Sidisi deck, a bad token deck, all around into one.

>Thread Question: What deck do you regret building? Why?
Generic Karador combo
You either get hated out right away and don't get to play or jerk off in your corner "winning" while everyone just rolls their eyes. It's just not what I'm looking for when playing Magic. And the deck was expensive as shit, too.

>What deck do you regret building?
Skeleton ship maritime theme
Built that a couple of years back, deck's a shit

Uril Voltron and Thelon Fungus Tribal.

Meren self-sacrifice with Kokusho and friends
Took too much effort for too little reward

The Monarch mechanic rewards aggression decently well in casual metas. Just run Queen Marchesa as your commander and watch everyone start fighting over that spicy extra card draw

>tfw getting out Emeria Shepard and a plains while Sakura-Tribe Elder is in the yard

>Deck I regret building
easily general tazri which is just ally tribal. Every time I try to play it someone from outside the game sees my commander and goes "oh man that's general tazri food chain, thats like $3,000 and one of the best combo decks in all of edh ". my deck isn't that but the second the table hears it everyone targets me no matter what.
Here's an example from last time I used it.
>4 way game
> I used tazri generic ally tribal and the only other deck that matters is one guy was using the cat deck but super upgraded.
>turn 1 someone from outside of game sees my commander and goes on about food chain , everyone besides cat dude and me shit themselves
> play command tower turn
> " oh shit he has access to any color we have to kill that land asap!!!!!!!"
> game goes on and any time I play anything someone freaks i.e I played a signet and it got hated out immediately meanwhile cat guy had sol ring turn 1 and mana vault. he then had mana crypt and mox diamond out but was ignored even though he was way ahead and the only permanent I had out was birds of paradise.
>cat guy gets out cat that only let's people attack with one creature and she's buffed with a ton of equipment. Cat guy also about to ult ajani steadfast. I go to overload vandal blast to kill all his equipment, table freaks it gets countered, tried to kill ajani with hero's downfall, table freaks it gets countered because obviously I'm trying to combo off. Cat guy ults ajani, cat lady is like a 20/20 with double strike, trample, lifelink, hex proof and now cat man can only be dealt one damage by a source. Rest of table moans "oh man how didn't we see that coming"

So yeah I hate my deck

Curious, is it gonna be creature theft and counters?

you honestly seem pretty bad at politics. It should become obvious fairly early that you are just an ally tribal deck.

That said, 1 drop mana dorks is usually a sign of a competetive deck.

Sounds like a fun idea actually. Even if I might not end up not playing Queen Marchesa I'll at least try to add a card or two which introduces the Monarch.

Already have one guy who plays a combined chaos/grouphug deck. But it mostly has shit like Timesifter, Confusion in the Ranks and coin flipping, all of which get old pretty fast.

Chaos is a lot like ketchup, you want a little bit of it to spice things up but you'd have to be a real pleb idiot to build a whole deck/dish around it

Just a fyi, Grenzo is a fun card but is pretty terrible as a commander because of the mono-red limitation. Mono-red simply does nothing if it doesn't curve into a win by turn 5 with some kind of crazy token swarm or instant kill burn meme, and typically loses to a single board wipe. Going mardu with Queen Marchesa gives you access to all of red's good stuff, including Grenzo, and the two added colors of W and B give you great support for token/wide strats and generally improves your draw. Even if you include the manabase, it's easier to make Queen Marchesa good on a budget than Grenzo

>Thread Question: What deck do you regret building? Why?
Meren probably. Attracts way too much hate and I ended up not enjoying playing with my friends.
I still go to hang out but I really don't care about our games anymore.

I mostly build decks and wish I had more money

There's not really any way to politics your way out of someone saying "oh man the second he gets access to 4 mana he's going to win even if he has an empty board" . Birds of paradise was just for color fixing and one guy also shit his pants when he saw panharmonicon in my hand because "it's clearly a combo piece guys!!!!!"

I have a question for the thread. Does everyone really hate emblems or is it just like 2 guys that spam emblem hate?
I think even if there was a card that removed emblems it would be useless to play because most emblems take awhile to get to and the only one with a gamebreaking effect in commander is tamiyo but she is super squishy unless someone has out chainveil, doubling season, and oath of Gideon and if someone has all of those out they should have gotten hated on by other removal.

The only other emblems that seem decent for edh might be liliana the last hope but she's tiny and gb garruk but his only affects one player and even then it only works with combat and combat isn't that common in edh.

So to me an emblem hate card seems useless since it is dumb to waste a slot for something that can only come from a few cards, something that you know is coming a few turns ahead of time, and something that is easy to stop if you actually think.

The only reasonable emblem hate I could see is something like a colorless card version of karns ult for a lot of mana that just says restart the game.

I keep mistaking chaos decks for the format that was basically Planechase where you had a fifth deck that flipped a card that activated each round..

just run a slightly less gay commander in place of meren and slot meren in the 99. boom, now people won't gun for you

my reanimator draws very little hate in my meta even though it's BUG and can do some outrageously crazy and annoying shit, and it still doesn't get hated out. i don't run a commander for it. but to be fair, i never hunt down wincons with it even though i easily could, i just goof around tearing down board states with it.

pro tip for reanimator memes

necromancy + kederekt leviathan

3 mana to bounce entire nonland board on buyback LOL

i even had a friend recommend the interaction for me and i was like "huh" and now he hates me for it

Narset is even more gamebreaking than Tamiyo. Emblems are gay because they should only work while the walker is on the field. Kinda like the new Gideon. Last game somebody Jokulhaupsed while Tamiyo is on the field, explain how that is possible to recover from inb4 just play blue :DDD.

I've run it with Jarad and I've run it with Marizek and I still get hated out pretty early, and with those my deck is no where near strong enough.

My group is really competitive and their decks have just kept swelling in value whereas I've not been really putting much into mine due to not enjoying the interaction with their decks.

I honestly wanna build some neat flavour decks that aren't insanely competitive but are still viable against most things but there's just no scope for that, and we were friends before we were a playgroup so it's less easy to just find a new playgroup too.

Why not just say "yeah no, my Tazri is just ally tribal" instead of letting everyone think that you have a foodchain deck?

Have you tried literally telling them this? "hey guys I think we're getting too degenerate let's make neat flavor decks"

VERY NICE VERY CHEAP
GOOD FOR ANYTING
HE POOL YOUR CART
HE FLY YOU HOME
HE GAURD YOU HOUSE
GEEV YOU EXCELLENT DEAL

I fucking hate it when some autist comes over, looks at someone's hand and makes it blatantly obvious that there's some ridiculous combo card or just starts spouting speculation about how "you better watch this guy, he's gonna win in X turns." It's literally always the one guy at the lgs too, plus he comes around to each table asking for a certain bulk rare everytime, disrupting games.
If my group of friends (me included) weren't such big autists about trading, we'd just meet up at someone's apartment.

Never underestimate low IQ players. The best player in a small shop can easily enthrall them such that they will almost unconsciously believe anything that player says, even to the detriment of their own gameplay.

It's been like this from day one really, infinite combos are the tits in my group and they'll always remove the player that it's most efficient to do. Which is usually me, due to having the worst deck
I'd be the odd one out really, so I don't wanna say something that'd upset 3 of my really good friends.
In the end, it's just Magic, and I'm considering moving onto MTGO to play different formats

that still sounds like a retarded argument . I dunno what jokulhoping is. but it still seems pointless to waste a deck slot and even more pointless for wizards to make a card to target emblems since it's a mechanic only only like 12 cards have that are decently hard to get to and only a few actually are game winning. They're supposed to be game winning because they're hard to get to. you know way ahead of time if it's coming and all colors can kill or bounce planeswalkers in some way. That's like me saying "oh man felidar sovereign is so broken if my opponent gets to 200 life it's impossible to get someone down below felidar soverigns winning life total in between the end step before their turn and their upkeep if I'm tapped out they should make a specific anti win ability card "

>Panharmonicon
>a combo piece
I mean, it might be a combo piece on some obscure johnny combo but it's just a winmore card 99.99% of the time

You could challenge yourself instead. Find a nice staxy commander and do your best to break everyone's combo.

You know, obscure Johnny card like Palinchron. I get what you mean though.

Time to make a bant list with that plus emeria sky ruins, academy ruins and expedition map. Is it worth it to run the night fall combo? Also, which commander might work for this?

Pic unrelated

Infinite mana with 7 lands and a palinchron. Its not an efficent combo piece but it definitly is one.

>even more pointless for wizards to make a card to target emblems
Which is exactly what I didn't say they should make. At best, they should make emblems be "tokens in exile" so they can be cancelled by Eldrazi Processors and the like.
>They're supposed to be game winning because they're hard to get to
If you have a chump blocker generator and a boardwipe or two on hand, you can get basically any emblem you want, and you have a virtual 4 mana fog for several turns if you don't since everybody's concentrating on the walker. Walkers are gay and the game wasn't designed to accomodate them.

>tfw commander at the lgs gets scratched for some standard bullshit

just one more reason to dislike this trash format.

Yeah it doesn't go infinite with palinchron, you just get to trigger it another time it doesn't combo.

why dont you just get people to play commander anyway?

Scratch that, i forgot the second ability i'm dumb

Stax definitely wouldn't go down well at my table.
I've looked at some aggro and infect decks too but in the end I'd be the toxic player at our table for that.
Plus I don't really have the resources to make another deck at the moment.

no place to go, and there were only four other people, three of which wanted to play the tourney.

>cast Pali
>trigger trigger
>untap, float 7
>untap
>7 floating, -4 bounce Pali, 3 floating
>repeat

One of us is clearly retarded. It might be me. If Palinchron refunds 14 mana but it only takes 11 to play and bounce him, is that not infinite mana? You don't even need 14 lands, since it is two triggers.

Probably thinkng of Great Whale. A fun, fair magic card.

That still goes infinite easily because Deadeye. Oh well.

>I'd be the toxic player at our table for that
Couldn't be any worse than your current situation.
>no resources
Thats always the thing innit? Hope you find a solution man.

just take a table in the back or something. or play earlier in the day

Eh, maybe you're just missing charisma or something. I can bullshit myself out of several situations even if someone outside of the game states something.
I know that they're low IQ, since they never realize the power of Ashnod's Altar or Necropotence, even though I have abused them both million times before.
Anyway, it's not that hard to convince people, unless they are dependant or sucking cock of the faggot who's shitting on the deck.

>scarab god is now 40 dollars

holy shit i need to sell my foil one, could buy and entire new EDH deck and just make gisa and geralf the new commander until he comes back down

probably could have done that, but I went home now. sucks tho, not a lot of people play mtg in this town and even less play standard.

>have a normal and a foil
>don't live anywhere near a game store
>work keeping me busy
Price is gonna drop before I can go anywhere long enough to get a good deal on them.

>What deck do you regret building? Why?
Edric. Playing 1-drop evasion and always holding up mana for counters gets old. I get that he's the last true tempo deck in the format, but that's just not for me.

I play this card. Who are you? Me?

put it on TCG player and under cut the cheapest, right now is the easiest it will ever be to sell it since everyone is going to netdeck temur energy

This. I like to announce what I'm doing sometimes because it makes me seem dumb and unsure. Then I combo your ass.

>What deck do you regret building? Why?
atraxa super friends because its boring as fuck and getting the mana base right took for fucking ever but now i never play it. i had most of the cards already so it wasnt a money sink or anything but its $1000 deck i just never play

So my group wants everyone tone down in the competitiveness by making "budget non combo decks" I decided to rebuild mimeoplasm to this standard but after looking at the deck I'm thinking banana man might be a better commander. Let me know what you guys think and budget(under $20) suggestions

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/that-old-graveyard-magic/

Not the guy you were talking to. It may in fact be a matter of charisma as you say. I've come across this scenario several times. Dominating the slope heads comes naturally to me and it's amusing to watch a shop regular falter as his mind tricks fail him.

oh, apparently my lgs only does standard showdown now, there goes the one hobby I had.

I agree. The "best" player of one LGS started losing after others realized not to buy into his trickery, what the others listened for some reason. He never improved after that either

>all my friends stopped playing Blizzard games and it's hard finding new groups since everyone already formed their cliches
>don't have many multiplayer games on steam
>still suck at Tekken too much to go online
>hundreds of miles away from the nearest card shop
>have no friends because small town and the only thing people like around here are sports and drinking until the forgot how awful this town is
Still a bit away from moving out of this place.
It's hard mustering up the energy to do anything productive and I end up meandering about browsing porn and hoping someone would be willing to let me in their party.

What hobbies/jobs do you guys have to keep you busy outside of the game?
The only ones I ever tried getting into are extremely taxing typical failed artist,
I know

Post your decks!

I play Heroes of the Storm, board games, Nintendo games and read comics.

Yeah. It doesn't make me happy.

play dota 2

Gwafa Hazid. Slow, doesn't control, I always lose, and I can't play it in between classes. The highlight of the deck was slowing the game to a crawl and winning with pic related twice.

I'm gonna tear it up to build two decks. Hanna, Ships Navigator and Talrand.

I work 10 hours a day. When I'm not working, I play magic. When I'm not doing either, I curate my extensive collection of vintage thimbles. Sometimes I put one on each finger and pretend like I'm a robot.

There's three people like this at my LGS.
One is literally the stupidest person I have ever met in my life, we call him "Christian guy" it took him 3-4 years before he could remember what Sol Ring did without us telling him each time, wears nothing but christian apparel with "I love Jesus" on it, has at least 3 jesus themed tattoos and is a member of some religious cult. A classic is him using Krosan Grip on a Hedron Archive when there was a Doubling Season AND a Mirari's Wake in play.

The other guy is called "blue", and smells like death. We have told him to get the fuck out of the LGS unless he does something about his stench several times, but nothing has changed. He also has shoulder length blue hair which goes really well with his double chin and pimples, he recently told people he was a girl and started wearing skirts. If /r9k/ was a person, he is it.

Last guy has a face shaped like a potato so full of pimples it looks like burnt lasagne. I'd feel bad for how ugly he was if he wasn't dumb and socially awkward to match.

I regret building Saskia Samurais because it's inconsistent and the samurai don't really work with her.

I'm considering building a group slug deck now. I have a Ruric Thar deck that was just a Borborygmos list with the commander swapped.

Was thinking of using Zedruu since the effects I'd be using affect the whole table. Has anyone tried something similar?

honestly if you let the triplets player get them out, put out the mana rocks necessary to take your turns, and sandbag your cards when you see her at the table you are just a bad player. triplets are so slow, clunky, and do nothing for the first 6 turns

Not where I live in burger, got more concerns than me drawing stuff

saskia hatebears my friend

How does Shun Yun work out for you? I've been thinking of building Jeskai but Zedruu is fairly narrow (if potentially fun), Ruhan is lonrandumb, numot is weak and likely to pull a lot of hate for presenting the threat of LD from turn 0 on, and Narset... I'd love to build a LOLWUT casual Narset but she's a known cancer-tier commander. That leaves Shun Yun and I'm not sure how to make him work other than Soulfire Grandmaster Secret Commander.

>Krosan Grip on a Hedron Archive
Jesus. Reminds me of the time I was asked what the most threatening permanent on the table was. It was probably my grim monolith. I laughed and very joked that my buddy's burgeoning was clearly the most intimidating (his hand was spent). Next thing I know, the dude burns a capsize without buyback on the burgeoning. I quit smoking a couple years ago but I'd never needed a cigarette so bad in my life.

post archive

Oh yeah, he main phased that capsize too.

Lots of cantrips, equipment or enchanments to give him double strike without using the 2 mana. I don't run soulfire in the 99 as there is plenty of other lifegain available in jeskai

Lost my job recently so I'm not working. Otherwise, I play vidya games, go sailing, and make beer
