Legwork Edition
What's your meatspace time limit for legwork before runs?

What's the worst thing that happened because your team refused to do the legwork?

You don't have to remove them.

>Integral accessories (those that come with the weapon) don’t take up mount locations.
Core 417.

So I can add a foregrip to the Ares Alpha then?

Does it break any rules you're aware of, that aren't countered by more specific rules?

>Does it break any rules you're aware of
I'd assume he's more worried about the rules he's not aware of.

The better question is: Can you add an additional underbarrel weapon flamethrower to an ares alpha?

The best question: can you mod an underbarrel weapon, to add an underbarrel weapon to an underbarrel weapon?

Yes
No!

So could you add a trigger to a gun that has its trigger removed? I never liked that mod.

Also what the fuck does a four door, six seat sedan look like? I just cant picture something like pic related with the increased seating mod. Do they just widen the car?

Two seats in the back, that you can fold down to increase back space

But how? Do they lengthen the entire thing like a minivan? Add sliding doors?

Maybe they convert the front seats into a bench like the old cars used to have? some of them could seat three.

"Remove" the trigger removal mod. What do you have then?

A regular trigger? Its not really removal so much as adding a trigger back.

You misspelled 'monofilament combat chainsaw' pretty badly there, bud.

I'm definitely assuming bench seats with a tight middle seat (with waist belt) in front and back.

is shadowrun online any good?

>No!

>As the name indicates, this goes on the underneath slot, and it can only go on weapons rifle-sized or larger
Hard Targets brings the underbarrel shotgun to 5e. Stupidly RAW, but that means an underbarrel weapon that is (at least bullpup assault) rifle sized. That means shotguns all the way down.

Consider that the XM30 has two underbarrel weapons already.

No. It's a mediocre first person arena shooter that stole shadowrun's laundry to try and pass itself as shadowrun.

>first person arena shooter
what? i thought it was isometric turn based gameplay

Those are the HBS games.

There's a turn based online lobby/mmo games as well. It's shit.

Taking a look at what cyberware does to essence makes me rethink my choices, our medical mage is new and doesn't throw a lot of dice to begin with so I fear for my life

>What's your meatspace time limit for legwork before runs?
Any at all. It's a colossal waste of time. Do you ever see legwork being spammed in the video games? No? That's what I thought. Because all it does is slow things down because people think that's how you "have" to play Shadowrun, when it isn't at all.

I've had to endure people wasting entire sessions on legwork and I'm sick of it. That and the idiotic GMs who enable them instead of moving things on ASAP.

>What's the worst thing that happened because your team refused to do the legwork?
We got to have fun actually doing things instead of playing 50 questions with the GM. Terrible, huh?

>you can take a built in toolkit for a cyberarm
Does this mean I can make my rigger john silver?

Actually its fun

>wasting entire sessions on legwork
legwork is fun, omae
thinking about what you can do to prepare yourself so that the run is not just slick but teflon coated

>Do you ever see legwork being spammed in the video games?

I'll take what is Deus Ex for 500, Alex.

GTA V heists had lots of legwork

>Do you ever see legwork being spammed in the video games?
Do you see tactical combat spammed in video games? No? That's because the common player has the attention span of a fly on PCP

Watch Dogs is basically one giant leg work

Bad b8

Do reaction enhancers only stack with wired or can I take drugs too?

It's my understanding that drugs stack with just about everything?

Anything that says it doesn't stack with anything won't stack with drugs. Ditto anything that says chemical augmentation.

First time SR GM, can I get a recommendation for a good first time adventure ? The characters don't know each other and out of all the players only one of them played Shadowrun in the past (4th edition).

That's affirmative, shipmate.

ALL RISE FOR THE SRG ANTHEM

FOOD FIGHT
FOOD FIGHT
FOOD FIGHT
FOOD FIGHT

Food Fight!

Read what it says at the end
Wired Reflexes says that it does not stack with any Reaction or Initiative increasing augmentation so no stacking with any augs(outside of Reaction Enhancers) so chemical or magical is free game
Synaptic Booster says you can't stack it with anyother form so No Augs, Drugs or Magic
Synaptic Accelerator says it does not stack with Inititative increasing augs so Reaction Enhancers, Drugs and Magic are allowed
Same goes for Boosted Reflexes
And finally Lighting Reflexes, an overpriced piece of shit that does not stack with anything

If you don't have a Radar Sensor from Chrome Flesh, get one. Being able to see even rough shapes through walls is so damn useful. Best 12k I ever spent.

Recently finished the first session of the Shadowrun game I'm in. The (substitute) GM decides to start us off with a combination of adventures from Plots&Paydata.

Characters:
Riley "Recursion" Holiday (aka Dr. Samus Usher): mentally unstable Decker with many things wrong with them, has a hell hound as a service dog, totally not alcoholic. Matrix expert, disguise based infiltrator, and (cyberware) surgeon.

Christophe "Drugmore" Kekite: Chaos mage, human, latent Drake, follower of Kek, makes drugs and sells them to middle class America. Team Driver.

Staples: ex-Tir Nan Og covert operative, recently turned Banshee, and combat medic. Face and Healer. Claims team was killed, he survived, and his SIN vanished with them. Deep Cover Agent infiltrating the Tir Nan Og royal houses and Gov. (in our game we decided that Nan Og had similar special forces to Tangire, as we could find almost no info on Nan Og's special forces)

Matthias "Overseer" Rivera: Formerly a Knight Errant undercover detective, became unpersoned after an Ares higher up realized he was about to uncover details on Bug City that they wanted to keep hidden. Not that happy he has to turn to a life of crime.

Neapolitan: Wolf Adept, armorer, human, combat machine, and sufferer of superhuman psychosis. Ex-bodyguard of gang boss Tony G.

The games take place in NYC, in about 2079, and now that introducing the people in the story is out of the way I'll post actual story

The quick start adventure ? Is it that good ?

Yes.

The Stuffer shack one, yes
And we praise it because it's short and lets every role make some tests to get into it

Not at all
Its not a quality one but it does fine work of bringing the characters together and showcasing the mechanics.

Everyone but Staples' player(the substitute GM) and I are new to Shadowrun.

Our Johnson for whatever reason needs to assemble a team that's never been seen on the streets before, and as such may include some odd choices. So we are all called about a new job we might want to check out: Neapolitan gets called by her old boss, Drugmore by his street doc friend, Recursion, staples and Overseer got wind of the job through their fixers. The team is scheduled to meet with the Johnson at Enzo's at 4 AM, the city never really sleeps after all. However their contacts all agree the group should meet at a Stuffer Shack (tm) before hand, if only so they'll be a little friendlier during the meeting with Mr. Johnson.

So at 2 AM in a Stuffer Shack(tm) on 42nd street an odd assortment of people convene.

Recursion looks the most normal, wearing street clothes under an armored hoodie and backpack, their (hell hound) service dog by their side, and they're pretending to be blind. She picks up a delicious SlurpSoy and a pack of I Can't Believe It's Not Sausage! before going over to the dining area for the meet&greet.

Next is the "Superhuman" Neapolitan, with two obvious machine pistols on her belt and presumably more hidden under a lined coat, who pilfers a can of SpaghettiNOs before heading over to the meet &greet.

Up next is the amazing Drugmore, looking like an odd futuristic ninja in his bike helmet and chameleon suit with a flame thrower across his back and a pistol on his waist, first stealing a tattered looking cloak, he then tears open a bag of cat food and begins eating it much to the chagrin of the rocker wannabe couple making out nearby. He brings the cat food to the table with him.

Staples was off in the corner of the Stuffer Shack looking like a complete edge lord in a (fancy) cloak and armored jacket, waiting for a minute or two before getting a cup Rockin' Ramen and joining the group.
(next time is finale of people arriving and introductions)

Overseer was prepared for the meet, so he went directly over to the group with a thermos of coco in hand.
The stuffer shack was "mostly quiet", the only employee looking dead inside at the checkout with his (maybe) homely dwarf girlfriend going on and on about her new hair removal cream to him, he obviously was not listening. Some rockstar wannabes were making out in an aisle, some guy was standing in the frozen food section with a freezer door open in front of him, looking like a tech geek as he was decked out in many cheap gadgets. Finally there was an attractive young elf woman with a crying babe in her arms, trying desperately to get it to stop crying.

Overseer goes first in introducing himself, saying that he can do magic support with illusions and spirits, if someone is going to be the moral one it seems like it'd be him, he also asenses the team finding out that everyone (including the dog) but the decker are awakened.

Next is Drugmore, still eating cat food from the bag, who says that he never does any of his drugs, that his twitching is all him, and that he likes matrix memes.

Recursion introduces herself as a matrix specialist and blind, silently updating the "things stolen this week" tag on the Stuffer Shack from 3 to 6, which not even Vern the cashier noticed. She doesn't manage to succeed in pretending to blind (this time...) however.

Then it's Neapolitan who immediately says that she is better than everyone there and they are all insects beneath her.

Finally it's staples turn, he says he's a medic and negotiator. Recursion immediately outs herself as not being blind by asking "You look a bit pale, are you feeling ok?" which causes Staples to first go "I don't eat my teams" which after Recursions pretends to not know what he means, he admit to the group that "Yes, I am a banshee, no I will not eat your souls".

The mother and her crying babe finally leave the store as the team begins to discuss how they want to handle jobs.

>Chaos mage, human, latent Drake, follower of Kek,

cringe/10

Depends on the group.
My personal recommendation. Have there Johnson be a someone looking to climb up the corporate ladder and wants them to sabotage one of his rivals looking for a promotion.
When I did this I made it so it was a security officer looking to become chief and he had the runners hit a bank his rival was guarding to show how shit his rival was.
The reason I recommend this is because it introduces a NPC who has a reason to assemble the party who have never met before and because this person has ambition they may need the party again.

Until you hit a radar detector built specifically trigger an alarm

>latent drake
sigh....
I've always thought from a fluff stand point drakes are super interesting, but never had a player who didn't use it as "look at me I'm a dargin"

Drugmore and Neapolitan voted for "burn it all down, no pre-planning" while Staples, Overseer, and Recursion voted for "plan it out first, not necessarily killing everyone" as Recursion at least has heard stories of the Mega Corps hunting down runners that are 'unprofessional' and heavily damage property and kill everyone. Drugmore switches his position to "it depends on the job" which everyone can agree on.

At some point during that discussion the mother and child run back inside the store, the babe crying again (much to everyone's displeasure) while she tries calming the babe down while finding diapers.

Suddenly an explosion rocks the store, no one acts for a few seconds as they come to terms with the fact that someone just bombed a Stuffer Shack of all places. Two gangers step into the newly formed foyer of the Stuffer Shack, demanding the child and mother be handed over to them, they were out of sight as the explosion caused them to slide into an aisle out of sight.

Combat lasted 3 rounds out of the 30 until the police show up. First Neapolitan shoots duel-wielding machine pistols like a gangsta, hitting one of the thugs, then staples takes cover and starts assembling his gun, then Recursions hell hound starts trying to act threatening, while her dog is doing that Recursion turns her deck on and tells her agent to hack into the Stuffer Shack node until they can press the call police button, she ducks into one of the aisles for cover and slips her gas mask on "just in case".

Drugmore figures out that the gangers are wearing the colors of several different gangs, weird, and relocates to isle 5.

Then the gangers act, the boss grabs Veronica the dwarf, using her as a human shield and will kill her unless the woman and baby is given to them, a confusion spell envelopes Recursion, Neapolitan, and Staples, affecting Recursion less. Everyone affected sees the food and other things come to life and start dancing. Turns out one of the gangers is a shaman.

Recursion's agent manages to get one mark on the Stuffer Shack, useless. Suddenly the sprinklers turn on and a fourth ganger turns up, he's the real boss and starts to yell at his incompetent henchmen. Recursion tries to remember his voice from her time in gangs and can't remember it.

Neapolitan starts getting fired upon, taking no damage, but unfortunately is confused by the dancing food boxes and things, not knowing who she fires upon but does fire, missing.

Garm, as he's a service dog and can tell where the spell ends, leads Recursion out of the area of effect, good dog. Staples finds himself covered in butterflies, continues assembling his gun, luckily since it was power disassembled it's now done. Now that Recursion is out of the spell, she brings a tear gas grenade out of her backpack, Garm and her are now waiting on the far side of aisle 4.

Neopolitan begins attacking a nailed down table to try and make some cover. Drugmore moves to aisle 7 then casts a force 4 Firewater on the ganger holding veronica hostage, he only barely succeeds, but the ganger critical glitched so is now on fire.

Overseer goes over to the woman, trying to get her to come with him, this doesn't quite work and she flees screaming "don't kill my baby!". The woman escapes unseen into the backroom.

The agent gets another mark (joyous days). Neo continues attacking the table "STOP RESISTING". The agent successfully triggers the police alarm, lights silently flashing red for a few seconds before shutting off

>enemydeckerdetected.png

Neo starts shooting the table, which is currently giving her the finger, it falls over and she has cover.

Staples now with his gun, and a dislike for hostages being taken, skitters across the way to get LOS on target, shooting the hostage taker with a rainforest carbine filled with gel rounds, hitting the target in the shoulder, causing him to drop veronica out of view and him to the floor.

Reading FA
>Alchemy less shit
nice?!
>Will+Will drain Tradition
What ?
>Vehicle Spirits
...i give up.

What the fuck where the interns thinking when they wrote that stuff ?

Recursion lets loose, throwing a tear gas grenade into the area where the gangers are, unfortunately catching most people in the building with it, Garm seriously fails his test.

Overseer starts shooting with non-lethal rounds, failing to damage but did hit, found out #3 is a mage via assenssing. Drugmore targets the mage with a flamethrower, non-lethal is now out the window, grazing the mage and bathing him in flame.

The confusion spell ends >Icanseeclearlynow.gif
The shaman casts some spell on the boss, the boss glows and then rushes down the aisles searching for the mom, finally finding him and pointing at her with a machine gun, he starts shooting the area near the lady.

Purple powder sprays over Neo due to the bullets. Neo decides to shoot with only one gun instead of both, shooting at a horribly disoriented, nauseuos and hurt mook, who critically glitches, causing him to step into the fire and dying.
Recursion finds out that the enemy decker is not the guy in the freezer section (which was her suspicion) but is instead in VR, she orders her agent to redirect from turning police alarm back on to turning the host off.

Staples takes a shot at the boss, hitting like an anti-tank round and causing the aura to flash and causing barely any damage, causing the group to realize it's an armor spell.

Garm vomits fire right next to Recursions head, burning through the next to aisles, setting off an explosion which causes secondary explosions of cans and fizzy purple liquid. Which is about the same moment Recursion realizes that they were caught on camera, causing the clock to race to stop the agent from cutting the node, or try get the physical back ups destroyed.

Neo goes after the shaman outside, the shaman runs but she shoots him down, he skids on the asphalt. Garm breathes flame on the boss, dealing many fire. Neo duel wields against the boss, one gun ends up shooting her other gun though, the boss has been downed (whose body is still on fire).

Kill yourself, tripfag

The enemy decker flees, police sirens go on again. Staples tells Recursion to handle the footage (what'd you think I'm doing you git), then goes to check on the civilians. The agent shuts down the node, lights turn off, light provided by the burning corpse and shelving, red lights strobing, and the sprinklers going full force. Recursion just starts laughing madly as the absurdity of the situation settles in. Drugmore touches the flamming body casting death touch at force 8, the body arches in a dying moment.

Recursion goes into the back room, gives a thermal blanket to the soaking wet lady and her baby, then starts welding open the cabinet for the backups to the camera.

Neo checks for survivors, the shaman was still alive, is promptly shot by Neo, his body is dragged back in. Overseer starts searching the bodies for clues. Neo stops the lady from leaving, causing her to run crying back into the room where Recursion is dismantling the hardware part of the host.

Recursion has to console the lady, gets her contact info and convince Neapolitan to let her pass, and gets the storage module for the Stuffer Shack host in her backpack.

The group strips the bodies, netting a damaged cyberarm, a damaged armor jacket, ak-97, armor vest, damaged ares predator V, 5 clips ammo ak-97, armor vest, fichetti security 600, defiance t250 shotgun, a remmington roomsweeper, and the sense of being a team.

Yes, Recursion did hack the cyberarm off the corpse, no the police did not catch them (though there are 5~ witnesses out there and astral signitures)

They all go their separate ways to get changed into not soaking wet clothing before the meet with Mr. Johnson in an hour

oh yeah, they also took advantage of the fact the building was heavily damaged to steal some snacks and gear

what sort of things (skills, etc.) should a Face definitely have?

What kind of face (Adept, drugs, ware)?
A good suit, social skills and lots of contacts are things that every Face should have

Whynotallthree.jpg

in all seriousness though, probably adept and/or ware

Sorry, didn't know that that thing was still on.

Still, what the fuck happened with FA ?

I was under the impression that underbarrel weapons cannot be modified.

CGL went jewtastic with the budget and decided that unpaid interns should edit all the bullshit their coked up writers could cough up.

Hah! Glad user took my recursion suggestion.

I notice that orks can only have a maximum of 5 charisma, how would you go about making an ork face?

The same way you make any other face, except with five CHA or improving the CHA maximum with Qualities or Augmentations.

Max your charisma, put your social skills high, get Tailored Pheromones 3 and a good suit, get yourself Pharmaceutical Grade Novacoke. Maybe get Metatype Reduction, Exceptional Attribute and/or Genetic Optimization

Mystic Adept Orc
Focus on adept as they have a lot of really good charisma abilities.
Get a couple of magic spells that buff charisma and a foci to maintain them.
Also if you get to the stage there is a metamagic that adepts can get that will allow you to move ability points around so you can move logic into charisma and charisma into intuition. Super useful.

Make a cheat sheet out of the social test modifiers table and be sure to whip it out every time so you can check off every bonus.

What's the best source for Shadowrun lore on the interwebs? The wikia site has very compact articles.

The German wiki has much bigger articles, but they're in German.

danvolodar.ru/ancientfiles/

>etc.

Neo a best. Is it really super human psychosis if you ARE better than everyone else?

currently working on a character who's from Las Vegas and thinking of giving them records on file, before they were a runner they did cons on the strip, worked with organized crime, and boosted cars, what megacorp would be most likely to have files on them?

Ares, and likely PCC as well

oh right, I forgot the country was it's own corporation

If you're making the same mistake I did, and looking at FAST Food Fight, then no. It's sloppily put together and whoever drew that map clearly didn't even read the module.

They mean Food Fight, which is in Plots and Paydata, and sets up the runners for a few more runs.

Oh hey, I remember you. The fucker actually took latent drake? Dayum.

Yep, and so far his antics have been accepted by the group as "well his character IS insane"

Max out charisma.
Get Ruger Super Warhawk for maximum swagger.
Get the quality that let's you do called shots for half the modifier
Max out intimidate (physical)
Max out Pistols (revolver)
Put smartgun system in your eyes and your new chrome leviathan.

Now you just use the called shot that gives you a bonus to intimidate and scare everyone shitless with all your crazy modifiers for beign a fucking big ork with a fucking big cannon who shoots way too well.

Now go and intimidate helicotpers out of the sky, be an ork, be proud and enjoy all the power, force and the feeling to never hear quite right again with your new partner!

I'm not sure I could handle having a randumb character in my group; that shit bugs me big time. But hey, if everyones cool with him more power to you guys. I doubt any of your runs will be boring.

>Christophe "Drugmore" Kekite: Chaos mage, human, latent Drake, follower of Kek

kill them as soon as possible.

what are some more common tourist languages? I'd imagine a person who cons people for a living would try to learn some of the languages the tourists use to more easily part them with their money

My guess is the languages that would be most useful to him (if you're the guy from Vegas), are:
English
Aztlaner Spanish
Japanese
Sperethial (although, to my understanding, the Tir get kind of elitist with their language and don't like speaking it to non-elves. Is this correct?)
German

Depends on where you're at.
I believe the three most common languages are English, Spanish and japanese.

yep, I am the guy from Vegas, thanks for the language suggestions, funnily enough that's almost identical to what I chose: English, Aztlaner Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Italian.

what sort of skills would a (mundane) magician character need? Other than con I mean

Palming, and lots of it. That pretty much your defining skill. that, lockpick and perform.

It's not fun to watch other players play 50 questions with the GM about every fucking thing while he just makes me twiddle my thumbs.

Not Shadowrun, and for that matter, you don't do legwork there either. You get right into the action.

See above. You don't know what you're talking about at all.

You're talking rabbit-out-of-a-hat kinda guy? Palming, Disguise, Escape Artist, and Performance come to mind.

>while he just makes me twiddle my thumbs.
Sounds to me like you shouldn't have made a pure combat character, omae.

I always have perception and sneaking. It's a waste of time, anything relevant can and should be done in the middle of a run.

Have you tried asking them if there's anything you can do to help out with your sneaking? Or are you set in your ways enough that I'm not going to be able to convince you?

>Have you tried asking them if there's anything you can do to help out with your sneaking?
Every game I've ever been in has burned out thanks to players going way too slowly and poring over every detail. I refuse to become part of the problem.

do you guys think it would be reasonable to get metatype reduction but flavor it as (using ork as an example) becoming a less rough version looking of an ork, instead of getting the human-looking quality?

or should I go about it with Metatype reduction then get some size of bioware tusks if I want to have my character be a less rough looking ork?
