Rigger Edition
what was the wierdest thing you've seen a rigger do with drones?
as a non-rigger, have you ever used drones, and what for?
whats your favorite drone and why?
does your rigger ever build things, what was the craziest thing?

I've only just now noticed the OP is slightly different each time. That's a real nice touch in these threads.

I have placed an in-joke in the OP as well because of reasons.

I didn't get much feedback in the previous thread, but I'd appreciate the help.

What's a good All and Magician bonus if someone takes The Dweller on the Threshold as their Planar Entity mentor spirit? Pg. 95, FA.

Also, more background information on this entity would be appreciated. 5ed sources are... limited.

Non Rigger, I keep a drone around as a gun buddy, an extra gun in battle is useful in a pinch.

or as a mobile field hospital or heavy weapons platform. Kind of like the army or SWAT.

>as a non-rigger, have you ever used drones, and what for?

A roto-drone with two drone arms, an implanted medkit in one of the arms and Pilot + First Aid Soft at 4. Comes in quite handy.

I use a drone to keep overwatch while I'm astral projecting. I use a spirit too, but they cover each other's weaknesses pretty well.

Is Bubblegum Crisis a good show to watch for inspiration as a GM ?

Sure. Even better would be Black Lagoon though.

This. A roto-drone with a sniper is hella useful.

As a non-rigger Technomancer I had a duo of those stored on drop-pods in a helicopter.

Never got to use them but it was a pretty good backup plan if things went south.

That rigger's got a pretty large pair of boobs.

seems bretty expensive

I want to play the thrillseeking child of an exec who ran away from home because the sheltered life was simply too boring for him. Planning on taking poor self controll and wanted (his parents want him back). Do I have to take the unlimited corp SIN?

Also, how the fuck is that quality worth 25 karma when even stuff like borrowed time and leeroy jenkins only get you 20?

Becauseit is implied that people want you back, and any GM worth their salt will make your life hard for being corp-born. And that anyone who learns about your shiny SIN will want to kill you/nothing to do with you/be extremely suspicious of you.

What's the best kind of drone for a sneak-thief? I want some cheap flying drones to watch ahead and behind that won't get spotted easily.

>what was the wierdest thing you've seen a rigger do with drones?
I have three.

First, there was the guy who tricked out a Direktionssekretar, took a variety of physically crippling Negative Qualities, and then just rigged the anthroform drone all day every day, with a hospice nurse taking care of his comatose body.

Second, the guy who took a Flying Eye drone, mounted a monowhip on it, and used it as a remote, AR-operated melee weapon. Ripped and fucking tore.

Third, hijinks with Dodge Scoots. Everyone knows that it a scoot is disposable garbage, but it's got just enough Body to do things like give it Gecko Tips and a mounted sniper rifle. I once saw someone roll a Scoot up the side of a building, aim a sniper rifle 'down' into the building's wall, and then use AR Gunnery to shoot at ARO-marked targets.

>as a non-rigger, have you ever used drones, and what for?
It's hard to overstate how useful a Flying Eye is for recon, even if you're just remote controlling it for an extra feed. The same is true for a car with a sufficiently tricked-out sensor suite. The entire group benefits from people having those.

>whats your favorite drone and why?
Direktionssekretar for high performance, Aztech Crawler for a balance of performance and affordability, Flying Eye for hijinks and surveillance, and Rotodrone for high-altitude firepower. These are the 'bread and butter' drones, the ones that you should always default to, and only fall back on others if they can't perform what you're looking to do.

>does your rigger ever build things, what was the craziest thing?
The rules for actually crafting anything are too shit. Modding, sure, but fabricating something not already in the books? Forget about it.

>FA

>What's the best kind of drone for a sneak-thief? I want some cheap flying drones to watch ahead and behind that won't get spotted easily.
Flying Eye, all day every day.

But you are able to burn it, right?
I mean, the Ex-Conman from run faster also has no SIN

>But you are able to burn it, right?
removing a negative quality requires you to either pay off the karma cost, get a karma debt (all karma you'll get is immediately spent on this) or replace it with other negative qualities of equal value
It's why In Debt is such a gut punch. Not only do you have to pay off the debt, but you can't pay off that last bit unless you either spend karma or replace it with another negative quality

That I know. It was more of a theoretical question regarding the runaway character and not having to take the quality at game start.

>But you are able to burn it, right?
By spending 50 karma, yes.

How do you pronounce foci?

Foe-sy. Did you never take geometry?

foe-cus

How do the special forces of the megas look like?
The Red Samurai and Red Ninjas of Renraku have been pictured a few times, and I can imagine what the Jaguar Warriors of Aztech look like, but what about the other units?

Ares firewatch most likely look like tacticool hoplite bugs. No idea about the others (what other special forces are there even?)

Foe-kai

Horizon has the Dawkins Group, masters of memes. They'll probably look however they need

foe-key

focus [fok us]
foci [fucky]

Do you have to be taking initiative boosters to be even remotely useful in combat? What if I’m just a ridiculously chromed out troll who can tank anti-tank rockets? Aren’t I at least useful as a bullet sponge?

>Ares firewatch
Not sure when exactly it changed, if it did, but Firewatch used to be the elite best-of-the-best drawn from around the world. They'd look like whatever they looked like.

youtu.be/wLjMLBNkPN0
Depends on whether you're American/British, and even then you can pronounce the c as either a 'k' or an 's' and it's still valid.

If you don't take said negative Quality, ist safe to assume the character already got rid of his SIN before you started playing him.

Alright, that's all I needed to know.
Thanks

Just keep in mind, burning your SIN isn't some forgivable act of youthful rebellion. It's throwing your entire life away, and committing international crimes to do so. Reflect that in your character's concept.

Where in /tg would one find that Shadowrun-type book The Sprawl? (basically cyberpunk Powered by the Apocalypse)

Any way to add phys boxes? One of my players is running Redliner and I want suggest ways they can mitigate the loss. I thought Toughness did that but it's actually just a bonus die when resisting damage.

Tough As Nails from Run Faster p110

"Tough as Nails" from Run Faster.
Fucking expensive though, he should just grab Cyber Singularity Seeker and a Pain Editor.

Nice, thanks. I'll see what they think of both options.

Horizon - Dawkins Group
MCT - Swordsmen (I think)
Ares - Firewatch
Tir - Tir Ghosts
Shalish - Shalish Shamans iirc
Renraku - Red Samurai
UCAS - Seal Team 6

You forgot Drake Primes for S-K

Tough as nails.

Pain editor with enough armor may give you enough sturdiness as well.

I'm using the BP Deepwater oil spill as a setting for a low hit run. What paydata could runners be after other than clean up contracts and damage reports?

Some Greenpeace fucks are paying your runners to get evidence of corruption from the company doing the cleanup (Bribing some official to look the other way when "disposing" of the product, management skimming funds destined for the clean-up and asking for more money, etc)

Failing that, just them asking you to wreck shit up. I did say Greenpeace fucks after all.

Speedballing K-10 and Dopadrine: good idea or great idea?

You do know that K-10 is a suicide berserker drug yeah ?

You take K-10 you're probably going to need to burn an edge to not die from the crash or nonstop berserk effect.

That's the beauty of it. Dopadrine makes it so you can't berserk.

The damage is still a problem, obviously, but becoming an entirely in control combat god seems pretty appealing.

Yeah sorry I had to look up Dopadrine, mixed it up with another drug.

I mean sure, you'd be a combat god in control of his actions.

Great idea for NPCs on a last lag, terrible idea for PCs unless it's a oneshot throwaway.

Except if you roll badly on the duration tests you can still end up berserking, if the dopadrine wears of before the k10 does.

I guess you could just keep doing dopadrine indefinitely. It does have any crash effects of it's own.

What about the Detox spell?

Detox says : "Detox does not heal or prevent damage done by toxins, but it eliminates any side effects they may have on the victim"

That's true, only downside is the -1 to physical actions. Only problem would be if your GM would like to do something interesting with the side effect that dopadrine users are apathetic.

But you wouldn't berserk?

It could remove the berserk side-effect sure but not cancel it completely. If the character takes damage again, the berserk effect re-applies and you'd need to re-clean it.

So between Dopadrine or Detox as help with the K-10 symptoms, I'd say Dopadrine would be the most effective (and easiest) to have a controlled K-10 run. You can just have someone beep your autoinjector to crank another dose of Dopadrine into you whenever you go berserk.

Considering that Detox removes the drug from your system, I'd say your benefits go out the window at the same time, but so does the risk of berserking.

With 18S unresisted Damage after crashing, berserk or not is sorta by the Point.

besides the rare cases where you haven't been hit (but then why Pop K-10?), you have a good chance of simply dying from the crash effect.

Her tits are fucking amazing.

Wouldn't detox remove the crash damage so long as you do it before you crash? So you pop K-10 and dopadrine at the same time. Then before you come down you cast detox and reinject the mix.

What autosofts do you put on it?

It does specifically say that Detox doesn't remove any damage though. And from the flavor, it seems that the damage comes from the drug basically treating your organs like a punching bag.

Now on the other hand if you build a character with 9 Willpower and say 7 or more body, well then you have yourself some room for that 18s. 13 goes into the stun condition monitor and only 5 goes over to physical. That's alright in my book.

man, that is what you get when you let people draw pictures.

impossibly sexy tits

>Second, the guy who took a Flying Eye drone, mounted a monowhip on it
does that use gunnery?
or exotic weapon proficiency?
or is there a pilot 'soft for it?

>The rules for actually crafting anything are too shit. Modding, sure, but fabricating something not already in the books? Forget about it.
FUCK
4e and 5e are equally shit about making new things?

>Flying Eye
is this a 4e thing?
if not, is there an analogous 4e drone?

It doesn't remove damage of toxins that constantly apply damage, but removing a toxin from your body before it technically does the damage seems different.

Alright, thank you guys.
So how would those dudes look like? Dawkins and Firewatch seem to be flexible concerning their looks, and I know that the royal guard of the Tir have a hard on for platemail, but how woul, let's say, the guys from S-K Prime look like? Do they dress individually and dependant on their mission or are they your typical group of adventurers questing from the feudal castle that is Neu Essen?

>before it technically does the damage seems different.
Yeah but when we have to use words like technically it falls more under case-to-case GM jurdistiction. Then the discussion is sorta out of relevance.

From a GM perspective I can think of a few ways to rule the use of Detox on K-10, but none of it would be by the book.

anyone else having problems with Chummer not responding every time they add something to their character?

What do Wuxing have again?

Wuxia.

Wu-Tang Clan.

Gotcha, thanks.

Mechanically speaking (as in RL, not SR), the damage is prolly already done as soon as you Pop the drug. You only notice it when the "high" wears off.
I'm inclined that most GMs would treat it the same in SR.

Thats going by the assumption that you have never ever been hit in combat.
Seems pretty unlikely.

I don't think the Golden Snout would accept such nonsense from his elite enforcers.
I'd expect (depending on the case) simply hardened mil-spec armor tricked out with Ruthenium polymer, except if the mission requires something else.

After all, they aren't here to make a show, but to deliver an Endlösung for a problem.

>Wu-tang Clan
My fucking sides are in orbit.

Thanks to whoever it is thats been responding to my character build questions with full characters and pictures

Also Sioux Wildcats

So what are the pros and cons of going pure adept, cyberware or bioware for a Street Sam ? Is there some kid of guide for that for beginners ?

Cyber and Bio both are whatever you can afford, no training required.
Cyber - Cheap but soul consuming.
Bio - Expensive but less soul consuming.

Adepts - Almost free but requires hard work, has a few neato burrito powers that you wouldn't get through any augmentations. Also purity of the body and a sense of smugness.

Cons of pure adept: not as good as an adept with 1 ess of bioware.
Bioware is objectively better than cyber ware except for cost so go resources A

Can't find k-10 in Chummer.

You mix and match, lad.
Bioware is generally superior so long as you have the cash, but even a bio-purest probably wants an implanted smartlink/commlink/bio-monitor. Bone lacing is also strictly better than bone density, unless you are a punch-sam (+1 unarmed damage over titanium).

Bioware also allows you to take prototype transhuman. Most people say it's worthless unless you are Awakened, but I think it frees up enough essence that you can downgrade more 'ware at chargen and squeze more in.

In sgort: You don't have enough essence to go pure cyber at chargen. You barely have enough cash to go full bio. You don't have enough magic to go full adept unless you hyper-specialise. It's therefore better to mix and match.

Have you enabled "Chrome flesh"?

Gear -> Add Gear -> Drugs

This, except for the part about Prototype Transhuman.
Imho those 10 Karma are better spend on other qualities, but it prolly depends on your specific build.
I tend to go for Biocompatibility "Cyberware" and then go on from there.
Big problem about Bioware is that its INI-Boosters are of very specific Utility since they can't really be upgraded and selling them to upgrade is also not really an Option due to them being custom made.
Siemens Cyberspine is prolly among the best Options nowadays, because you can just purchase the higher Levels of REA and INI enhancements as addons for it, without having to swap out shit.

So what happened your last session, chummers?

>Avail 16F
Presuming you're in chargen, it's filtered by the availability limit.
Some people have been having this problem, I haven't been able to replicate it on any of my boxes. What're the specs of your device?

Now I could be very wrong, but I feel as if cyber is more for direct combat and bio less so, but bio has a wider range of possible benefits and bonuses. I'm not too up to date on geneware but I do know Narco is terrific if you want to snort drugs all day (combine that with a nephretic screen) and Reakt is if you have too much money and want a free +2 dice to dodging.

>Player
Shot the S-K space elevator with their own railgun and made Lofwyr want to personally flay us alive. It was a good campaign ending run.

>GM
My players got four hours to hash out their IC differences in a downtime session. Fixed their shit a bit, went socializing for some fixer, fished out a high connection one that's pretty good out of the eight or so they found.

Drugs and edge.

We made a deal with a dragon.

I know this is going to be a dumb question, but has Harlequin been stated for 5e?

It better end with a multimillion nuyen check and a one-night stand with said dragon or it isn't worth it.

Well... We didn't die. And possibly got some work later on. Definitely could have been worse.

Question: Would Hardened Mystic Armour translate to defense tests against spells or do damage spells get affected by Hardened armour.

From what I can tell, Hardened Armor is specifically designed for physical, non-magical attacks. It would apply for gunshots, but not spells. It's why killing Spirits as Mages is easier than killing them as a Mundane.

We started working for a local vampire brood, helping them police the local virals community to make sure the locals don't go to war with them. One of the vampires joined our team as well! The street samurai, who up until now has regarded virals with a modest amount of bigotry welcomed the vampire openly when it was revealed that they shared a history in corporate security.

Hoi there chums,

I discovered SR: Corporate SINs on YT a couple days ago and am hooked (the gm is a qt). Anyone got any other recorded SR sessions on YT/Twitch I can bookmark for later?

violentlifepodcast.com/category/tales-from-the-stuffer-shack/ is pretty good as comedy sessions.

>What if I’m just a ridiculously chromed out troll who can tank anti-tank rockets?
Why would anyone waste time shooting at you?
