1984, for all its pretensions otherwise, is unsustainable. Sooner or later someone in Oceania is going to look at a map and realize that they control three entire continents (including Australia, which has 25% of the world's uranium), a good portion of a fourth, and has two vast oceans between it and Eurasia and Eastasia. Oceania is actually in a position to take over the entire world if it plays the long game, building up its military and industry in North and South America and launching a full invasion in due course, probably first allying with one of the other superpowers to take out the third before turning on the second.

Because no matter what you try and do, someone, somewhere, is always going to want a larger slice of pie. Sooner or later the mentality of "we could actually win this war if we wanted to" will come to the Party, followed by "if we controlled the whole world I bet we'd be even better at controlling the proles than if we were just locked in perpetual war".

So they'll do that, win the war, then someone, at some point, will drop the ball and Oceania will fracture and tear itself apart.

It might not happen in my lifetime, but regardless I'd rather live somewhere in the heartland of Oceania, then in Airstrip One or wherever.

Again, even if in principle the idea of the three superpower world is sound, the reality of the situation is that one of the superpowers - Oceania - is in a vastly stronger position to the other two. It is actually unthinkable that it will not sooner or later attempt to leverage that position.
