Guy from last thread. Got that DG buddy who 99% of his games are losses against our other friends nids. No matter how he changes his list i.e. Nidzilla or stealer spam he still runs over our DG friend. It's starting to really depress him to the point of quitting the hobby. Reproductive terms like male and female only make sense in terms of sexual reproduction between same species organisms.

The GSC patriarch isn't doing that. It's hijacking the reproductive process of another species. In humans, this means it can do both of:

1. hijack the male gamete that goes to the larger female gamete
2. hijack the female gamete that goes onto the male gamete.

The only way to do this, given the nature of human reproduction, would be to rewrite the genetic code that is producing those gametes. What the patriarch is doing is more like a virus than any form of traditional reproduction, and assigning it a sex has about as much basis in the reality of the setting as it does in our reality. That is to say none.

So yeah, patriarchs can be girls. That's just as (in)valid as calling them boys. The primus can certainly be a girl, and they're the real leaders of the cult anyways.

Is a space marine brigade Detachment at all viable?

Elites, HQ, heavy support, and even fast Attack (to a lesser degree) all have plenty of viable options to choose from, but I just don't see that with troops. Six troop slots is just a lot with marines.

That being said, is two tactical squads with lascannons, a trio of sneeki scout squads, and some primaris a viable thing to take? It's just under 500 points and gives some nice throw around stuff. Y/N?
