Was it explained as "A concentration camp" or did you use other terms?
Exactly how common are elves on your particular lands? I'm not familiar with the Riverlands setting.

It makes it all the better when the uprising begins and the players get their kingdoms absolutely ravaged by druids, wizards, and arcane archers from hell.

I was going for a Hitler crossed with a captain of industry thing with the city building part of the game, so my plan was to blame everything that went wrong on "Those Knife eared forest folk holding back progress", after that I wanted to start gathering up elves and force them to help build expansions for the city and work in the mines plus any other Jobs too dangerous for people.

I guess the issue is that they aren't actually holding anyone back unless they attack your lumberjacks and foresters. If they keep to themselves, who cares? If they are attacking you, kill them. Trying to enslave them all at once is dreadfully impractical.

This is basically the orcs from Warcrafts excuse. Orcs need lumber. Go to elf lands and cut trees. Elves try and stop deforestation. Orcs need to build to not dis in their desert wasteland of a homeland. That is kinda a shit justification given how many races in fantasy rpg's are forest dwelling.
On top of that if your justification for throwing them into camps is to use them as slaves that is also a shit reason. The biggest problem is the fact they have a longer life span than most races, which means a longer memory.
As a GM probably wouldn't have yelled at you, but that move would have bit you in the ass hard.

Elf hate, especially the kind that pops up on this board, is almost always based in a fetishistic dominance fantasy. As such it's almost always magical realm material when shoved to the forefront of a game in the way OP intended.

Pretty much, a lot of people forget that Hitler didn't single out anyone race for his camps. If you were not White, Straight, Christian, and not retarded. You would have been sent to the camps. The reason why Jews are so fresh in peoples mind is because his rhetoric would often single them out and Germany had a larger population of them than other minorities.
And Hitler was only able to do what he did, because of huge outside factors both historical and economic.
If OP wanted to actually recreate a authoritarian race based regime, he should have at least started a couple wars with elvish factions or persecuted them for a couple of centuries. Tbh, my chaotic neutral dwarf I am currently playing is probably my favorite character of all time. I built her as the party face and she's completely insane. It's a nice combination, desu.

I think my players favorite game is the one I ran where I forced them to all be MHF, with random stats prerolled. I tossed the sheets on the table face down and told everyone to grab one and fill in the blanks (weapons, feats, names, etc...).

The bitching was astronomical, but it turned out to be one of their favorite games in the end.

Before setting up concentration camps you have to do years of prep work to turn the people of the land (good races) against dark elves and dark elf infiltrators (or so-called "surface elves, TOTALLY not bleached drow" (bad race)).

What's the issue here? Concentration camps are a tactic for dealing with containment of troublesome peoples/guerillas, they were (as far as I know) first put to use by the British in the Boer war, the Spanish used similar solutions in Cuba before the Spanish american war, the Americans dabbled in the same thing during the Vietnam war (the 'relocated villages'), and of course Hitler famously used them to try to rid his people of friendly merchants.

Sounds like you are playing with a lefty group that will go into emotional hyperdrive the moment someone does or says something badwrong.

Now if you actually went all out in the vein of "Jaa, ze elves vill have small yellow fabric 'ears' on their prison uniform, and zey will get a magical tattoo on their arm, now ver ist Josephus Mengelius?", then I could understand taking issue a bit more, but a normal sensible guy would just chuckle at the silliness and go 'Ok, that's dumb, knock it off'.

From my understanding of Kingmaker elves are not actually any trouble in the campaign. So this guy wold have had to go out of his way to do so without provocation. That's just inefficient/pointless.
