I have a few stories that corroborate with OP.

First is about this young POC who was so eager to join our group, he begged and begged finally DM said yes. Decent roleplayer, interesting character concepts. Funny, likeable.

Used cheat dice and got caught after an impossible string of crits.

DM kicked him out , the guy showed up to encounters when that was still a thing, but eventually got blacklisted.

He didn't understand no matter how many groups he got kicked out of that DnD is not a competitive game...at least not like that.
