Its been a fun, but after this last fiasco the game may very well be coming to an end.
Because whenever a shit storm like this starts rarely is it the last or most powerful and the company involved never know when to come in out of the rain.
So while there is still a community lets share some of our fondest memories of the game be for this latest shit tarnishes them.

The fuck are you talking about? (Seriously. I don't know)

Also satan trips checked.

This isn't going to make much of a dent, Rudy. Stop trying to get me to sell my stuff.

...

...

Are you talking about the harrasment drama? It was rather shitty, but it wasn't anything big, unless I missed some new developments.

It drew the attention of the following of Sargon and others like him. Naturally, they want to see this explode into some sort of 'Gamergate for tabletop games.'

Little do the /pol/tards know that complaining is all fa/tg/uys do.

The game isn't coming to an end.

Kitchen table people and whales are going to continue supporting this game because they don't browse here or Reddit so they don't even know this shit is happening and even if they did, it probably won't hinder their spending in a significant way. For the most part so long as stores don't mention this foot traffic at the store won't know either.

The game is just going to fully transition into something we fucking hate. A place where the art is crap, sensitive topics that you just can't bring up in public, and still expensive as all fuck. I mean sure, that alone might kill it, but the recent events are just a conclusion of a situation that's been fermenting for years.

For the upcoming months NOTHING will have changed at your store. Yet some retards may think something has changed or they'll think they've realized that some people are fucking fascists and Wizards' idiotic announcement of policing community behavior will give those people some sort of permission to bitch about it to Wizards - what the fuck are they going to do? Hit the store's supply because some players are jackasses?

The only thing people have to remember is that assholes are never welcome. But everyone else, even if they differ in opinion politically or artistically or in how they play Magic, are still fucking there to play Magic and we should just continue to be good to each other because nothing has changed. The game has been going to shit for reasons more serious than this one and that's what we should be focusing on.

I haven't listened to that podcast for years now.

>The game has been going to shit for reasons more serious than this one and that's what we should be focusing on.

I agree, I think it's annoying that a fraction of the people who stick their noses into this drama haven't said anything on at least the card stock quality when it only gets worse with each new product released.

Not sure about that. The Ixalan packs I've opened have been better quality than the HoD ones, which were (somehow) worse than Amonkhet.

but the Iconic Masters cards are worse than Ixalan AND HoD. Not sure about Explorers of Ixalan conditions though.

I don't give a shit about the card stock either.

My number one problem is the price of the game. When a kid, I mean a teenager, looks at the price of the decks being slung around the store, they have zero reason to buy into Magic over anything else. If you can't fucking get fresh blood into the game to deal with the natural attrition of growing up (whichever age that might be) then you're not going to have any more fucking community.

Wizards has failed to deliver on the promise that was implicit with a Masters product. That shit would be forthcoming to support Modern and therefore a format that people can jump to beyond Standard. Instead, they focused on the cash cow that is Commander, have not once improved on the Masters product since the first release, all the while letting the bullshit investment people pollute the Standard environment with their behavior BECAUSE they've pushed anything useful to Mythic or Rare rarity including fucking cards like Fatal Push.

I won't fucking tell anybody to play Magic anymore. Because I'm afraid that if I do, they'll ask me why the fuck I'm suggesting they play a game where decks run the cost of a fucking Nintendo Switch.

>one of the suggestions is going digital

I kind of want to lock these idiots in a room where the only entertainment is MTGO

one eceleb drama over a tranny whore won't kill M:tG

however this only means the infection of WotC is complete and Unstable is gonna be the last good MtG set, we will be only getting more yasqueenslayness and "racial diversity" (in a fantasy world full of different races) in the next sets

That is true. Even standard is ridiculous expensive for shit that stays around for only a year. When was the last time we had good reprints? Theros with Thoughtseize and Khans with the Onslaught fetches?

>Kitchen table people and whales are going to continue supporting this game because they don't browse here or Reddit
yeah some do actually
>For the most part so long as stores don't mention this foot traffic at the store won't know either.
this is wrong and you know it because someone who goes there will bring it up.
>The game is just going to fully transition into something we fucking hate.
you can say that again
> conclusion of a situation that's been fermenting for years.
they'll be more there always is
>For the upcoming months NOTHING will have changed at your store.
I could give anecdotal evidence, but I know better so give it some time and others will
>what the fuck are they going to do? Hit the store's supply because some players are jackasses?
they've done stupider shit, and never underestimate how spiteful SJWs are
>The only thing people have to remember is that assholes are never welcome.
so like 40% of the player base. (trying to be generous here and assume most are better than I am led to believe)
>But everyone else, even if they differ in opinion politically or artistically or in how they play Magic, are still fucking there to play Magic
Until it inevitably gets brought up
>The game has been going to shit for reasons more serious than this one and that's what we should be focusing on.
yeah but this is the catalyst for the game eventual end, and stems from one of its major problems

>inb4 muh 20 million
let's see if it's the same shill in this thread

lets be honest that would be the worst mistake WotC could ever make

>It drew the attention of the following of Sargon and others like him

People still take that British faggot seriously?

Where have you been for the last 3 years
Magic hasn't been good since khans

yep it is

>but after this last fiasco the game may very well be coming to an end

1 cosplayer complains and one youtuber gets one of his videos deleted.2 billion dollar 23 years long business gets wiped off earth.

>share some of our fondest memories of the game

i like how i never entered a game store. i picked played the game on the beach with other kids and it was a wild west of shady trading requiring me to travel to the other corner of the beach, shitty made up tournaments where everyone was a cheater.
i was a sad antisocial kid and MtG was the only thing that made me interact with other kids a bit.

>Naturally, they want to see this explode into some sort of 'Gamergate for tabletop games.'

How? Some guy being the LeafyIsHere of tabletop games and getting called a bitch for it is hardly gonna turn into a "gamergate" and every faggot who tries to make everything a "gamergate" is retarded.

they reached a tipping point.

No, Thoughtseize or Fetches don't count as meaningful reprints; they were no doubt the best reprints, but their impact was not meaningful. Prices were bullshit then and continue to be bullshit now. The game has had ridiculous inflation since Alara, and it's hardly coincidentally the introduction of Mythics, where everyone discovered you could sell a Baneslayer or Elspeth for $50 and people would pay for it.

That was the problem then, and it's still the problem now. I know you don't mean any harm but saying Theros or Khans mattered is true but it's not enough because prices are still fucking absurd even if there is evidence prices have been going down. This isn't an issue of giving shit time and prices will drop eventually, the problem is that prices are terminal for the game - people are either 100% not playing or 100% playing, you can't say they're 50% not playing they either are or they aren't. And right now, prices being what they are, there is zero reason to think anybody rational you want populating your store will play the game.

>Cut Cord
>Destroyed Zapper
GODDAMNIT. You can't just fucking unscrew the thing and remove the fucking mechanism inside.

It was probably a bad zapper user. A lot of them don't work too good these days. It's like people taking broken NES and turning them into other things.

Because literally every nerdy hobby on the internet needs to be turned into a part of the identity politics culture war.

youtube.com/watch?v=zSxd49zAnvA

this is the most important MTG video

>basically the same person as Jeremy

but user Jeremy isn't part chink and I wouldn't destroy his boypussy

Oh god. The jew-king of mtg investing.

Not sure if I understand you. But people are '50%' playing. People are playing casual formats like commander. It;'s one of mtgs best selling sealed products.

Is this what alt-righters got their shit in a twist about? Some sexy cosplay?

How'd they go from getting mad at feminists for not liking boobs in video games to getting mad at shit like this?

hooray for taking numbers out of context

The controversy was around MTG fans complaining she played a controversial game called rip it or flip it and ended up tearing a very expensive card on stream.

What I'm saying is that new players aren't getting hooked. They are very clearly going to transition quickly into the not-playing state or they won't even try given how stupidly expensive the game is.

>rip it or flip

I basically only play commander these days, or go to sealed/draft events. I have better things to spend money on.

Just switch to a better game, like Yugioh

>not being so rich you just play casual flip or rip matches every Masters set

oooh what'd she rip?

pls b tarmogoyf

Tarmogoyf isn't even close to being king shit anymore. It took three reprints and Eldrazi Tron kicking down Jund's sandcastle, but he's toppled sure enough.

It was a masterpiece something

Flip it or rip it is literally the most moronic conspicuous consumption please look at me thing you can do in magic. (that said I have gotten some nice expensive cards for free because I'm willing to take the flip it or rip it dregs and put some tape over it)

>Kitchen table people and whales are going to continue supporting this game because they don't browse here

You know those guys that are very clearly new here, who ask stupid questions and try to post their shitbrews in the Modern thread because they think Modern just means you play using any card with the Modern border? Those are the Kitchen Table scrubs.

MTG is dying in popularity we all know. But how long can it last? 1-2 years before $1 fetches or will it take longer?

This is definitely the time to liquidate.

>Literally millions of players left in 98-99 and again in 06-07
>Magic has more than twice as many players now as it ever did before either of those events
>/pol/ thinks they can kill it by stirring up shit about a cosplayer

You guys go for it.

Sprankle is a cosplayer, her whole thing is getting nerds to look at her.

50% she'll be back in 3 months
75% she'll be back in 6 months
99% she'll be back within a year

Screencap this.

...

I'm not defending her but:
- She has a non-cosplay job
- She's quitting Magic cosplay, not cosplay entirely

Let's be as uncharitable as possible and imagine that she is only doing Magic for the easy attention. She can easily ditch Magic and get that same attention with any other titillating property.

I wish they censored any discussion of it, if they did /pol/ might finally fuck off.

>1-2 years before $1 fetches
I fucking wish, Wizards is spreading these reprints as thin as fucking possible.

Guys, it doesn't work when we're all posting in the same thread. You've got to space it out, post only a couple of times in different threads.

Slow burn, remember.

They should just mass reprint fetches, shocks, and any modern staple that sees play in >50% of decks of its color that top the format.

over in literally 30 nanoseconds

just drop some love at unsleeved media's channel and start sperging out after they kicked him out for literally nothing

Ideally they would just print modern event decks.
Or even just rarity downshit these staples to uncommon for a couple of master's sets. That alone would be fantastic.

Printing valuable lands at rare was a mistake. They should have been uncommon from the start.

Boobless snake was the last straw for me. I'm selling my collection tomorrow.

>56666666

>- She has a non-cosplay job
Did people think otherwise? she was a literal nobody in the cosplaying scene.

Not how trips work friend.
May not be that bad depending on how wizards handles it.

One shitpost in a thread and suddenly all of pol are going to try and kill the game.

With how fast you post in the threads as well i wouldn't be surprised if you are actually OP

I love how they have to put a corset on it to tell us it's female. Its a fucking snake, Jesus christ

Get lost.
Wizards official stance on it is simply that if you see shit at an event then report it (the exact thing that already happens now), and if it is only related to MTG (Youtube, Twitter, etc) then report it using those means (also already happens).

Net change: absolutely fucking nothing other than some MTG "community celebs" butting heads.

At least change the filename you fucking retarded

I fucking hate nerds

>game lost 8 mil players in less than 3 years
>everyone were concerned about that to begin with
>now we get this drama

Yeah, maybe you shouldn't wish for outside forces to fuck with MtG too.

What are you talking about?

I mostly did Mirrodin and left when Ravnica happened.

I still have three or four decks.

I dont understand shit nowadays and imo the planeswalker faggotry really ruins the magic and mystery the settings had. Also there are some fucking weird as fuck cards and ugly art.

But as far as I know (I knew) it's a great game if you stick to what you like. It'snot like I give Wizards my money anyways, I always traded and bought from third party retailers

Why would /pol/ care about a irrelevant card game?

>Why would /pol/ care about a irrelevant card game?
They don't care about the irrelevant card game, they care that it's somehow feminist and SJW infested, so they put on their deus vult outfits and attempt psychological attacks to make people go away from the game.

Mostly this involves shitting up Veeky Forums with things no-one cares about.

someone give me the rundown

>implying implications

I sometimes listen to mtggoldfish's podcast and the one that came out this week starts off with the faggot host acting like someone died or some tragedy happened, and sure enough, he was talking about this stupid ass drama. Sites like channelfireball are issuing open letters and shit like this.

There's some serious virtue signaling and uncalled outrage about this subject from the other side, it isn't something that was simply stirred by the /pol/ crowd.

>I wish they censored any discussion of it

You haven't been paying attention. The MTG online community has been mobilized against Jeremy because he broke the news about the inferior card stock and brings it up every chance he gets. You can tell Rudy is a bit hesitant to bring it up when he's forced to address it, or he'd be under fire too.

this is one of the things yugioh gets right and mtg gets wrong, the structure decks in yugioh are MSRP $9/$10 and tend to have either really good new cards or excellent reprints
Maxx C, a staple used in almost all decks currently worth $7 was printed in one such structure deck within the last year
all you need to do to get one (and it's limited so one's all you need) is to buy the deck it came in for $9

you're implying no one from /pol/ plays or used to play magic which is absolutely not the case, they're mad over a very real problem with the culture surrounding the game

The culture has always been shit

So this is the /pol/ version of that one reddit boogeyman image about SJWs infiltrating this site?

>game lost 8 mil players in less than 3 years
>still repeating this

The 20mil estimate was total players, 12 million is active players. The discrepancy there is there are around 8 million people who have purchased cards or played in events but don't currently do either. They're basically fans of the game that aren't considered consumers. They're at least somewhat invested in the game, but aren't playing it right now. There are 12 million players who you can count on to show up to FNM or a prerelease, or just to pick up a fat pack at Wal-Mart when the set is released.

People saw the 20mil stat used and then the 12mil stat used later and freaked out because they didn't realize WotC tracks the overall playerbase with two different metrics.

>this is one of the things yugioh gets right and mtg gets wrong

Except that Yugioh sets things up so you need multiple sets of Secret Rares from every new release to stay up to date with the new meta, so cards jump up to $120 and then plummet down to $9 when they get put in a tin. If you're fine playing a deck from two years ago that's been shit on because Yugioh is the very definition of Powercreep, you can play under a budget, sure.

Yugioh doesn't do reprints for the sake of the playerbase, because everything about the game is designed to render your deck obsolete and your collection worthless so you're more eager to jump on the hype train with every new thing. It's all the worst parts of Standard and it can't have any sort of Eternal format separate from this cycle.

>There was a lot of discussion about both the presence of women at major tournaments and "over-sexualization" of female characters in MtG. Naturally a lot of criticism fell to cosplayers who have a tendency to "sexualize" their specified character. (The critique being if you're concerned with over-sexualization why do you support cosplayers who specifically focus on sexualization of said characters).

Wait...Why are cosplayers encouraged to display overt sexuality when this has been banished from the card art?

It attract fat virgins. It's the closest to a naked woman irl that they'll ever touch

>3/10 at best cosplayer cries on patreon because her boyfriend dumped her and theres no one to pay for he shit """""hobby""""""" anymore
>patreon was already on the decline
>decide to blame it on some nerd who did a video on it 6 months ago
and here we are

She said leaving magic felt like a "bad break up", not that she has had an actual break up with another person. You fall for fake news too easily.

>Wait...Why are cosplayers encouraged to display overt sexuality when this has been banished from the card art?

The entire selling point of cosplay is that it's softcore porn. WoTC know this and play to it to keep the incels interested.

Im not wrong

It really is. How do you explain why all the famous cosplayers just have huge tits? You think it would be about costume quality but it aint.

Cosplayers are the kardashians of the nerd world. Contribute nothing, but are still famous for doing slutty shit.

Also its called GP Vegas not MagicCon Vegas. If you aint wheeling and dealing cards then get the fuck out

>You think it would be about costume quality but it aint.

I mean, there's Sosenka.

>oy vey goyim sell all your rares so i can eat them up, it's another shoah for mtg remember the 8 million

...

>It attract fat virgins.

>The entire selling point of cosplay is that it's softcore porn.

Might we conclude that the "deep WotC" put into motion a plan to encourage a proliferation of sexy costume to counter or neutralize the rigid 'no exposed flesh' policy implemented by the new progressive wing of the company?

They're not going to stop saying it, user. They're going to repeat 'muh 8 million' until everyone believes it because they've heard it so much and it's commonly accepted by the truth. And if you ever bring up that they're willfully wrong and that they're just fiddling with the numbers, you conveniently get ignored and unanswered.

remember when the werewolf guy attacked the evil sorceress bitch who put a curse on him and everyone got ass blasted that he was attacking her

lmao, this game is fucking done

>they've heard it so much and it's commonly accepted by the truth

Doubtful facts that accord with how things are thought to be are not usually subjected to scrutiny.

You should have seen this coming when the term "man lands" was considered sexist

>remember when the werewolf guy attacked the evil sorceress bitch who put a curse on him and everyone got ass blasted that he was attacking her

This is a reminder that he was punished for his outré depiction.

>Giving him a low-hanging, awesome card art like Curse of the Swine will be some good PR for him since his Triumph of Ferocity was damn awful. It’s arguably one of the worst images in the past decade for Magic, and it was printed over a year ago. I’m still ever raising an eyebrow to his work, but notice these three commissions—there’s not a single warrior woman or deviation into that sort of situation. That area of work might be closed off for a while, so I’m happy he’s still getting work, not being wholly blackballed—because that’s a career killer.

yeah, what an awful artwork. looks like he is totally about to rape her.

Or, this clusterfuck is the biggest non story I've ever read about a fucking card game community.

As much as I don't care for cosplay i will say there are some very good ones out there.

This is the same shit they’ve been saying since at least ‘04. Is there a joke in here somewhere?
