The only one of these I'm confused by is the dwarf one. If you don't like dwarves, just state in your initial post that there are no dwarves in your world or that they're not playable. You should then get no applications with dwarves. Is this a recurring problem for you? I'm quite interested.

Furry sure buts whats wrong with dwarves?

Maybe he did put it in his initial post, so getting players wanting to play dwarves is an instant no-no because clearly they didn't read said post or didn't care.

Wouldn't that be the case for any player wanting any character option which isn't available? Why call out dwarves specifically?

>>player wants to play a dwarf
wat

Why?

Player's application looks like this.
Player wants to be a gnome.
Player's character is described as "queer" (I'm fine with gay or lesbian PCs, but "queer" is an instant no-no)

Satire.

>player applies out of the blue asking for 3rd party content
>player wants to play a monstrous (far above party power level) race
>player asks for special powers/magic items to justify their backstory
>player tries to connect their character to a rich family to cheese extra starting money
>player starts bitching right out the gate about the houserules of the campaign he's applying to and suggests his own
>player brags about their application's 'build' and what it can do
>player talks about exactly how his character could beat another applicant's character in pvp
>player whines about martial/caster disparity memes right off the bat
>player wants to play a female character

Just kidding with that last one, but the rest are pretty big red flags for someone with powertrip issues.

Man, what's with all the flimsy people becoming rape-victim-like damaged goods these days?
Back in my day, you played with a goddamn furfag and a man who smelled like shit, and that was the only group you -got-.

Did the internet just spoil people? Is that it?

>player wants to play a furry
"A game of limitless imagination, wondrous discovery, and tragic misfortunes!"
"But you can only be a human. Or a tall magical human."

You must be fun at parties.

Any mention of politics or use of political buzzwords
Anyone who lists "trigger warnings"
Anyone who mentions currently being in multliple games
Anyone who ignores my scheduled hours and immediately tries to change the playtime to suit them
No trannys. I dont care if you want to crossplay in game, but if you're a tranny irl, keep it to yourself.

>no anime avatars
>posts loli pic
???

Because dwarves are hairy.
Hair is basically fur.
Therefore, dwarves are furries.

Man, not allowing people who have trigger warnings basically filters out 90% of the people in this thread.
It's a good policy.

Same here but we had no internet then and if only five people played D and D in your town you were stuck.
With Roll20 you have a vast field of applicants.

>player wants to play a furry
Scaliefag detected.

>playing in game where GM and players have serious issues with scheduling
>tell the GM tales of the things im doing with my ((((other groups)))) to make him jealous and to put competitive pressure on his monkey brain

Better be careful son, or else someone will jump on you and lecture you about how playing a Male Human Fighter is the absolute height of quality roleplay.

In seriousness though, there is a stark difference between someone who wants to play a beast race and an actual furry. The latter are fetishists who just want to play muscly, pretty-boy anthros because they're weird faggots who get off to that kind of thing.

But how in god's name do you get so fucking PICKY?

The internet's ease of use helped nerds revert to their proper tribal state, sequestering themselves from others who are equally socially retarded but because they masturbate to cat people instead of Roman armor they are therefore *inferior*.

Thankfully I've only DM'd for people I already know on there. I have, however, denied a posting and backed out after I got accepted just because of DM redflags.

>DM doesn't know the system and I have to explain everything to him multiple times
>DM nitpicks my character creation decisions because he doesn't agree
>DM is a little crazy/on a power trip

They had plenty of people so I just nope'd on outta there because I could tell it wasn't going o be any fun for me.

Man, fuck that entirely.
Roleplaying is the hobby where the goth kid, the punk, the furfag, the weenie, and the fat kid can get together and play a game.

>Roleplaying is the hobby where the goth kid, the punk, the furfag, the weenie, and the fat kid can get together and play a game.
>implying your average TTRPG player isn't all of these things in one person

>The latter are fetishists who just want to play muscly, pretty-boy anthros because they're weird faggots who get off to that kind of thing.
I see no problem with that. Mostly because I play either muscular girls or petite boys. Unless they start describing their massive ruby red steaming knotted doggodongs or start marking their territory with piss.

I'm a player and not the DM and my DM is way too nice of a guy. I cant stop redflag players from joining, but I absolutely can try to make them quit. Enter Yegde Drogo-san, my recurring alternate character. I go by the mantra: edgelord+1. That guy killed both of his parents? Yegde killed all four of his biological parents (which he had to do because they were aktuallly blah blah bpah). Yegde is a human, who wears a fur suit (if that guy is playing a furry). He outgays, outmurders, outedges whatever those players say. They either have some self realization that their red flags are dumb, or they realize I am mocking them and quit. Just kidding, they all quit.

My thing with furries is less the sexual deviancy. I mean that's weird but they're mostly good at not wearing that on their sleaves. Mostly.

It's more the fact furries always have a lot of obnoxious quirks when it comes to roleplay. There are two especially which always show up:
>an incredibly pretentious sense of misanthropy
I'm far from an HFY fag, but I get really annoyed with furries when they constantly harp on about how awful humanity is, especially when compared to whatever 2-dimensional beast race they chose to play as

>idiotic anime tropes
Furries always play as characters who act like the worst caricatures of anime aimed at 12-year-old Americans. Your typical furfag plays a character who's a cross between Naruto and Sonic the Hedgehog. It's awful

haha, of course not.
The poor stink master can't afford to be a goth kid or a punk. He's too busy making ends meet and bargaining for food.
The weenie is like a fifth the size of the fat kid.
The goth kids and punks spend way too much time pretending to be hardcore to be the weenie.

No, at best you get combinations of maybe two or three. The most I ever saw was a goth furfag who kept trying to bite people.
This was acceptable because she was hot jailbait back when we all were technically jailbait so it was OK.
Though, the punk/goth was outright superior, as they were much more cavalier about being topless.

user, I can't help but be slightly offended.
Harping on about how bad humanity is is like, one of my top favorite likes, right next to hell wars featuring numerous end game scenarios like elder gods and the zerg with humanity in the middle starship troopersing it up.

Like, I -need- it. I NEED this shit. I need people going on about the flaws of humanity. I need stories about the endless, infinite, heroic and glorious tragedy that is war.

Like, remember when hiigara was burning? That shit gave me a powerful cocktail of emotion chemicals. I need that shit so hard.

>poorly written
I don't know how to write a good backstory. I guess forever no games for me.

wait, shit, it was kharak that burned. So why were they called hiigarrans? Why have I forgotten all the plot, but not stealing shit with salvage cruisers, and that one mission where they give you shield drones for the first time so I made a perfect sphere of them?

There's a stark difference between intelligent social commentary and just putting your weird Mary Sue noble savage race of nekofags on a pedestal, user.

I find doing a bullet point style timeline of the milestones of a characters life is a good framework if you dont have a flair for creative writing
Think of it as greentexting the characters history and personality

I gotcha senpai
>PC is from place he grew up in
>Something important happens and he now needs/wants to go on an adventure
>He does

Got a source for that?
Googling led me back to Veeky Forums and someone saying it's on Hentai Foundry, but it seems to have disappeared from there.

you should see her awesome fightscene.

Look man, I need this shit.
If I am lacking in The Horror, I am willing to go with The Horror cut with furfag bullshit.

>I'm far from an HFY fag, but I get really annoyed with furries when they constantly harp on about how awful humanity is, especially when compared to whatever 2-dimensional beast race they chose to play as
Fucking druids, man.

No, seriously, just make them play druids. Fits PERFECTLY.

I do that. But I'm guessing my backstories are either too simple, badly worded or too generic.

I'll try that.

Yes, the Internet allowed people to have more fun instead of less fun. It is therefore a bad thing and people should feel bad about it.

>the Internet allowed people to have more fun instead of less fun
Then how come most people on community websites are jaded, histrionic assholes with a deep-seated contempt for anything fun?

It seems like they're having a lot less fun these days, despite being way, way, way more specific.

>people having fun on the internet
Where the fuck do you think you are?

well tell you what, hoss, when you run a rol20 game , just pick 5 apps at random like a true man of the people and report back

Should I attach the cover letter and recommendations from previous DMs?

>not sheparding a gaggle of socially awkward teens into your unmarked van to do it the old fashioned way

the only character you can play in my game is a male human fighter who's parents and close relatives were killed by bandits and you want revenge, but if i catch you trying to engage you get kicked out

Stop focusing on the wrong part of OP's bait!

>loli pic

I don't think you know what that word means.

He's not wrong.

It means anime girl, duh

Thanks for coming up with the new classes for my campaign. I’ll get started writing up their stats.

>>player has an anime avatar
Die in a fire you animophobe.

Those mostly seem like theorycrafters whining over shit that doesn['t matter to people who actually play the games.

The Higaarans got kicked off Higaara for being bloodthirsty genocidal bitches. Most of them landed on Kharak.

They found out where their home is and grabbed a hyperspace core, then tried going him, but some dick blew up Kharak because the Higaarans were previously dicks.

...

Go to 4muses, Search Shia Star Trek and you are on your track to seeing a space of elf get ass raped by klingons for a few weeks.

The only thing I ask for in a player is that they share a good sense of humor, and an investment into the game.

sauce?

>nonwhite country
The only countries that qualify for this would be approximately 60% of the Old Word Europe.
>wanting to play a dwarf
wat

Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-San.

Thanks mate
Too bad it's not an hentai...how disappointing

My only rule for ever playing a campaign has been a minimum number of days and hours per week.
If you can't commit to the set time like the rest of the players and only the most serious of emergencies is a pass. I will not play with you ever.
I'm not going to waste my time or other person's time risking one dude who can't commit.

>poorly written
>player wants to play a furry

These are the only legitimate ones OP.

I await in anticipation

the thread is about roll20 apps, not your sex life, sicko.

Nice fantasy.

Unless there's a scheduling conflict, why?

>player has an anime avatar
>posts anime art to complain about this

Really shucks my corn

Hello, what is one tip I should know if I want to try using this site? I am new and want to start playing. I am going to try the adventurers league or whatever too and hopefully find a more regular group out of that, but I'd like to try online as well.

>approximately 60% of Europe
>white
gwehehe

>ITT: Things that make you deny a Roll20 application

I have 2 real life games every week.

I notice you didn't say anything about Jews. Can I be in your game?

When a character is described with any words that come out of a hentai book.

because this is a poorly disguised bait post and the easiest bait is to insult dwarves or do /pol/ shit.

OP has done both.

>Too long
>Too short
>Didn't read the game's description

Pretty much only these three, unless you also count the obviously trolling shit apps. Though in the end I just don't review the applications. I entirely left that to the players, they have to vote and decide whom to pick and then tell me whether to press the "invite" button. It works well and rids me of some of the responsibility.

you must be 18 years old to browse Veeky Forums

>No trannys. I dont care if you want to crossplay in game, but if you're a tranny irl, keep it to yourself.

I've played a game that was almost nothing but transgender people. it actually went really well. but that's mainly because it was tangential to the game and nobody acted like an autist about it. it's only the ones that won't shut the fuck up, or insist on playing a trans character, that will fuck up those games.

wants to play a dwarf? ya racist cunt. why dont ya go diddle your knife-ears!

Uh oh spaghettios!

You think it's satire but I have a player who writes this sort of stuff for his backstories.

>Anyone who mentions currently being in multliple games
Hits home. I am running like 5 games and I would loev to play in another one but I know better. I'm planning to cut off a few of these campaigns that are with the same people anyway.

10/10

>>player is from a nonwhite country

I wonder if that means he bans Americans and Canadians from his games?

While we're on the subject, let's discuss this from the player's perspective! What are some things that make you not want to apply to a Roll20 game, Veeky Forums? I know I have a few:
>No details about the setting or premise
>No application guidelines
>No dedicated application thread, listing forum is a giant clusterfuck
>Shitty applications have already been accepted
>GM can barely type english
>GM types like a pretentious faggot
>The plot involves some Queen/Empress that is blatant waifubait
>The plot is an escort quest
>"gritty" """realistic"""
>Slightest hint of lewd or ERP shit
>Rolling for stats

man, this puts me right into my eternal war happy place.

Raising flags:
>poorly written
>player is from a nonwhite country
>player is under 20 years old
>player can't stay up more than 3-4 hours from when the session starts
>player has experience with DnD

Auto-kicks:
>player doesn't have an anime avatar
>player describes their or other characters with DnD alignment
>player wants to play a furry

In my opinion there's nothing too bad about an overly simple backstory, or one lacking in detail. You can fill those things gradually over the course of the game. When I think of bad backstories I think of 200-page monstrosities filled with death and rape, for a level 1 character.

>level 1 character
Stop playing DnD.

Please no it hurts too much

No.

>player wants to play a furry
Scalie here who has done D&D with all furries before. Probably the best rp group I've ever been with. Surprisingly normal.

>guy who wants to fuck animals doesn't see a problem playing with people who want to fuck animals

user, why you just can't appreciate how hot dragons are?

Birds of the feather flock together.
Did you make yiffing tie to game mechanics or keep it separate post/pre/mid-session warmup?

>asks if the group is LGBT friendly
I mean, it is but player sexuality has never come up once in my history of running games. The fact that they ask about it is a warning sign since it implies they’re going to make a thing of it.

Dragons don't have feathers brainlet.
It was completely non-sexual anyways.

This is one of those parts of your view I will never understand. I can understand the appeal of monstergirls and even anthro, though it does nothing for me. It's the bit with actual animals that gets me, though it's not tile fetish level: it's still trying to get with something that's alive, but it's not much different to me from saying you want to fuck an ancient cow with elemental powers. I understand the appeal of getting with an ancient powerful being, just not why you'd latch on to the unattractive body shape of any particular animal, real or mythical, for your focus. Why a dragon and not a giant sorceress or something?
