Is that fucking Lasterk

Where is the best 5e dm screen PDF?

reminder

Are spoiler tags the new greentext?

Am I on /pfg/? Wtf is this OP

Yeah you can tell this general has brought in a bad crowd recently.

Good to see the new thread off to such a strong start

PHB Hunter Ranger is still useful, especially at lower-mid levels. It's still a highly situational class but you're not going to be running dry on resources like a WoT4E monk will.

I'm liking this turn of events

Also Wot4E, at least I can play a Monk and once in a blue moon waste ki for kicks and giggles.

If you want more Lyse, I'll be happy to post more.

PHB Ranger, it's one of my favorite classes.

What the fuck happened, you think?

Ranger/Rogue multiclass for Volley/Assassinate shenanigans.

Wait till near the end if you're still around, I'm not that much of an ass. Unless you post while answering questions.

Is it better to multiclass/dip or just play it straight as a divine sorcerer?

Normally I'm adverse to blatantly powergaming but after xanthars WOTC so clearly despise sorcerers that I'm willing to do it.

XGE and pandering to weebos happened

5etools.com is the official 5etools and still receiving updates

How would a Beholder with Mirage Arcane central eye act or function?

Sorcerer is best multiclassed into paladin (Basically you become a variant paladin) or warlock (Basically a ranged martial warlock).

Crawford, what the fuck is wrong with you? Do you just enjoy trolling us?

so now 5e General has the anime pic's ?

Xanathar? Really? I felt Xanathar was an amazing addition with all its content. Why do you think it brought in this sewage of people?

WoTC and lifting
They don't know the difference between carrying weight with effort, and effortless. Once it becomes an effort, it is impossible.
So a low str character trudging while wearing full plate, vs a 16 str guy being able to backfill in it, if he has the acrobatics /dex
That's why I make a lot of stuff like that athletics checks, and if you have a str over a certain amount, it is a free pass.
STR over 15? Fuck yeah you kick that door in or can lift that log.
It is a thing you can easily manage as a DM, but you shouldn't have to since a lot of players have shit DMs who have never exercised or know the capabilities of the human body.
5e is limited with the idea the peak levels of str abilities of characters is a high school football player who lifts with poor form.
This was my fix, but people brought up rogues and bards using expertise to cheat this and being 2swole2control, basically using compression suits and wrist straps.

I guess it makes sense, because changing your CON mod retroactively increases or decreases your HP total.

>sageadvice.eu/2016/12/30/is-a-glass-window-considered-a-total-cover/
This is the same dude who says that a glass window or a curtain of scotch tape is sufficient material to count as total cover against spells and attacks.

... in my time Beholders couldn't cast spells unless they gouged out their central eye in a ritual that made them into a Beholder Mage.

/pfg/, /4eg/ & /5eg/ all have anime pics now.

Just be thankful no one is using catgirls as the OP(yet).

Encumbrance rules would also be a lot less retarded if things like worn vs carried armour, and backpacks affected carry weight.

Eg., carrying a set of platemail around in a duffel bag shouldn't be the same as wearing a suit of platemail, just look at hockey equipment.

On /r/dnd, you get to read the cries of those who would put con as a dump stat, it's hilarious, honestly.

>doesn't support version 47.0.2.6148 of Firefox

It's shit.

I refuse to post in this general

I'm out

>AAAAAAAA I HATE JAPAN

Better off without you.

>sageadvice.eu/2017/12/08/there-will-be-no-unearthed-arcana-or-sage-advice-articles-published-this-december-2017/
Are you fucking kidding

I have a character concept but can't figure it out mechanically, could you'se guys help?

>a rogue cardinal in a very anti-arcane magic church has secretly cultivated an order of hugely zealous assassin mages.
>one either goes rogue or is all that's left after the order and its founder are discovered and eliminated or hell, maybe he's just out because the party's goals align with his master's

That is just straight-up an exposed areola.

Dear /53g/: my beloved wife works at a bookstore that has a small selection of fifth edition material, and her employee discount bonus is about to kick in. I already have the player's handbook, DMG, and Monster Manual, along with the Starter Set. What adventure books would you recommend for a first time group trying to get into D&D? Are there any supplemental items you would recommend like tilesets or the DM screen?

I mean, any casting class will work for this with the Stealthy skill feat, though Arcane Trickster with Mage Slayer would work too.

Different than your sorry ass, those people have jobs, families and responsibilities and they want to take a break so they can, I don't know, spend time with their loved ones, perhaps?

Get over yourself, basement dweller.

I'm sure their family time would not be duly interupted by the 2 hours it might take to brainstorm 3 more elf subraces.

Hosw do we make /5eg/ great like /pfg/ & /4eg/?

Trickery Cleric.

I'm sure you can wait around 25 to 45 more days to get 3 more elf subraces.

Went the fuck would you want more elf subraces ?
I'd rather wait twice as long and not get bullshit content, again.

5e would have to be great instead of merely adequate.

How much aerola has to be exposed to break Veeky Forums rules?

Prepare fog cloud
fog cloud solves everything

Phone posting turns why to went.
Thanks phone, thanks

Web DM says Beastmasters suck, /5eg/, but they don't elaborate. Why does it suck?

I'm sure they could have informed everyone that there would be no UA more than 3 days in advance of the date of delivery.

Revised ranger beastmaster is fine.

This thread is a disgrace to 5eg.

Don't watch those losers.

3 days is when they normally seem to start working on it, so they probably decided they aren't arsed. They'll maybe make one for January, or February.

Web DM is way more respectable than your dumb autistic ass.

DM screen is handy but not necessary, if you keep PDFs around you can just control f through.

Everyone raves about Strahd and I like having The Yawning Portal around so I can plug and play a dungeon on weeks I don't want to come up with something.

How do you eldritch knight?

>he says this while posting an image on par with the OP

Revised? Is that posted errata? Link please?

PHB Beastmaster suck because at low levels, there is too high an action cost to use them and at high levels, their health and abilities scale too poorly.

Revised Beastmaster is great.

Two seconds in Google champ.

OSRfag here. Would you kindly stop asking how to run OSR campaigns in 5e?

multiclassing holds back your CHA progression and your spell/SP progression, which is all a really big deal for a sorcerer. the only ones I can really see being a justification is warlock 2/3 for a bunch of free SP and some other goodies

paladin/sorcerer isn''t really a sorcerer, it's just a paladin with a bigger spell list and more slots to smite with

Here.

I typed "revised beastmaster errata" into Google and got a link to WoW porn.

Then stop looking at WoW porn.

Spank you.

In practice I've nailed it down to a few things.

1. The beast has far too little HP to stand up against most challenges.
2. Any save-based abilities it has does not scale at all.
3. It never gets access to magical attacks, making it limited outside of mundane adventures.

For these there are easy fixes, for the PHB version. These have worked quite well in-practice.

1. Give the beast 6 x ranger level HP, and give it the same number of HD as the ranger to spend on short rests.
2. Add the ranger's proficiency bonus to the save DCs of any abilities the beast's statblock has.
3. Give the beast magical attacks alongside the 7th-level subclass feature.

Is that an actual problem or did you just come here for attention?

Google adjusts its searches based on your browsing history.
Stop looking up so much WoW porn user.

Just out of curiosity, who does Wizards of the Coast let playtest their DnD classes? Because I feel like if they were actual seasoned players and DMs, they wouldn't have let their 5e players handbook release with shit like the sorcerer in it. Hell, that could be said about the sorcerer in every edition.

Sorcerer and Warlock were made after the open playtest was finished

I want to play a big-tittied night elf in 5e, user, and have been trying to find homebrew stats for the race. Don't judge me!

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll tell her to grab both of those books and the screen for me then.

Happened about an hour ago. I'd say it happens in around 3-out-of-4 /osr/ generals?
Always gets like 2 big replies that say "here's the best you can do, but don't" and 3 or 4 short replies that say "no".

the problem isn't sorcerer, the problem is wizard and the legion of dipshits who unironically buy D&D products to live out their nerd power fantasies of being god who threw a fit about the D&D next mage class

They have wide public playtests (via D&D Next for the core game and Unearthed Arcana for expansions) and private playtesters to the amount of like 4600 people that are all NDA'd. I don't recall where I read that number but it sounds right.

The biggest problem with 5e is that some of its classes were simply not publicly playtested enough. The sorcerer appeared once, and the warlock and ranger appeared maybe twice each. Otherwise they were handled all internally/via outsourced NDA'd players. If they had shown up in Next more often, they would be a lot better than what we got, I guarantee you.

Sounds to me it is less of a 5eg problem and more of a some kinds being shitheads to get a reaction out of you people. I'd say stick with your guns and ignore them.

Did you play 3.5? If you did you can't possibly blame them, as wizards (especially at epic levels) WERE gods. Who didn't see Vengeful Gaze of God and think "I can't wait to use that on Orcus"?

...

Fuck.

Off.

(non-BM) ranger. BH is retarded because it must tell the beast every turn to continue attacking the monstar that's hitting it, and Hunter isn't that bad.

Weak or not, I don't want to play Avatar. Shadow (for multiclass with rogue)>Open Hand>Kensei>Sun Soul>everything else for me.

What a well rounded and eloquent argument.

Variant Paladin?

>TFW a giant fish attacks your head.
Welp, I guess this is my life now.

>big-tittied night elf
I'd like to see the stats on the race as well.

The sorcerer was playtested but it got overhauled and the original design pretty much scrapped, so the release version probably got little or no testing. IIRC Mearls said that the playtest version received positive feedback but people said it was too different from the 3e sorcerer.

Not that user, but do you have a link to what was playtested? I'd like to take a look, if possible.

I think the playtest stuff is in the trove?

Two versions. Pick your poison.

Wow, that second one is really well put together.

Your character is trying to seduce the barmaid but her orbiter keeps inviting himself to your table whenever she is in shift. He's is a 20th level wizard. What do you do?

A lot of time has been put into both really. The longer one is being converted to look like the shorter one from homebrewery.

Is this /pfg/?

I think this is it.

Seduce him too.

>person trying to convince me that fagfinder is good
>brings up literally the most no fun allowed rules I've ever heard
>says these are what make it good
Why do people like fagfinder

To be fair, the (non BM) ranger and Sorcerer aren't really BAD by any stretch of the imagination, they are all easily capable of contributing to the party.

It's not like 3e where a party of Wizards was better than a mixed party, and a Fighter might as well not have come at all.

Sorcerer's main issue is that they are really shoehorned into their selected spells, so if you fuck up spell selection you're boned. That and SP are used for both Metamagic and Spellslots. The best solution for this is to juse let sorcs use the DMG Spell Points rules. A Spell Point Sorc gets a lot more versitility and thus performs better, but doesn't get a power boost really at all.

Why are you trying to stir up edition/game wars?
