Anyone have any tips for pulling off pic related for Sylvaneth?

Theres pink flock/paper leaved in some craft store.
You can also tone the "wood" itself

*airbrush splutters* That will be $200 to my Polish bank account please

Ah yes, the glowing Bolter

Fuck, do people actually accept this quality?

>buy a big pot of oregano or similar ground spices
>get a jar or tub
>put glue on model
>put model in spice tub
>put another coat of watered down glue over the oregano on your model
>paint
>mini smells like pizza (added bonus)

>undrilled bolters

>18 GBP for a single mini

Is this for real?
Are people actually paying for this?
If so fuck my thesis, i am wasting time.

Oh what's this?

Oh good grief, what an amazing selection!

disregard eaten chocolates because picture I took before we ate them for some reason blurred badly for no good reason. Take 2.

Look at these amazing minis, Sarge Powerfist and Chainmail , some old Devastators who despite being MISB won't be for very long!

Going old old school here! wow! And wait a minute, I recognise this guy, oh yes you look familiar to me!

Ralnor of Stirland! You old Dog, where have you been for the past 27 years!?

And finally... Look who's made a return trip across the Atlantic, you really didn't have to send him back!! Although I missed the festive dude, welcome back Chapter Master Kringle!

These fuckheads took far longer to paint than they had any business to; and I still got to base them.

I'm thinking really rusted industrial, so the dull oranges/browns contrast the colors. Sound about right?

Holy hivemind, you are the aberrant scratch build guy, right?

These guys turned out amazing!
I don't know what texture on the bases you are aiming for, but you could put down some panels of plasticard, to make them look like discarded metal sheets with lots of gunk on them. Or maybe some rods or industrial bitz you got spare. Or maybe dirt ground with a few shallow areas to put rusty water in. Or industrial goo.
Some crystal spikes might also work, and you could go nuts with a clashy color without making it look like ass.

Oh, and please get doom guy on the right a nice yellow keycard on the ground.

Highlights also fit in quite well.

Someone asked in a previous thread about brush pencils, pic related. Basicly a marker I guess with a brush I guess.

>Jelly intensifies

on lead adventure there is a pretty good thread about making various kinds of trees.
One of them is japanese cherry blossom trees.

lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=41545.0

That's fucking neat/10

WS 10. With a fucking flail.

You're gonna make a Slaanesh chapter?

Noice.gif

My converted boss is nearing completion, just need to base him and tidy up the horns. And drill the barrels if I ever get a drill bit.

Oh thank you! I had no idea they got noticed at all, let alone remembered! Your suggestions are a lot like the ones I've been bouncing around for awhile. I did some similar stuff for an Iron Warriors killteam I made way back in 2014- I just need to get some more plasticard/tubing. I also initially thought about going for sewage with a sybarite green color; but I worry that might actually wind up clashing, rather than simply contrasting.

I also have an actual Doomguy model I've had waiting in the wings to paint since May- I might get to him next just as a palette cleanser

user from Beckenham! I recibed the items I was waiting for and already sent your gift! Its only one package. It should be there by Monday 18. Just to let you know.

...

...

And of course, da big red button dat makes dis ting go

I like the sawblade-axe and the big red button.

I've just finished basing all my trees

Oh boi, I can see him becoming the challenge cup for TGs SS.
Really nice gift. Also nice that it got to someone who really (seemingly) appreciates vintage minis.

Remembered since I'm working on a cult right now myself.

Regarding clashing:
I keep on silencing the demons in my head talking about clashing colors on these guys by thinking about the theme.

Tyranid skin has a lot of color variaton and they give a shit about camo OR have specialised skin for a chameleon like ability. And their psy-fuckery, especially of cultists, lets victims see over blemishes, like strangely toned skin (or additional limbs...).
I painted my guys as heavy mining/industrial workers. It's natural for those to wear bright and easy to see safety gear. So lots of yellow, orange, all the alarming colors. It's supposed to clash.
I left the bases dull grey, so they all tie in nicely.
I randomly clutter industrial shit though, like ore clumps, rail cart tracks, levers, controls...

So whatever, go nuts. I think genestealer cults are some of the few armies you can get away with random shit like that.

neat idea. I've never thought of that. might steal!

You're right user, well said. I'll just get right to work and see for myself what plays best!

2nd this.

A H from Copenhagen, your parcel is on its way.

What does It mean?

There's about 400 or so "miniature painting stands" with the magnifying lenses and little alligator clips to hold shit.
Anyone have a model they prefer? I assume they're all the same shit, but I never know.

His weapon skill.
The ability to hit another opponent

I never liked trees like these. They look too manicured and unorganic with their perfect branches and uniform colors

Alternative?

I want to paint skin, any recommendation what paint I should use?

I'm open to using all brands but in my local area its easier to find citadel and Army painter.

You are gifting your secret santa back?

I feel you're not seeing the forest from the trees.

And flails are very strong?

Easy formula for nice looking skin:
Bugman's Glow, Reikland Fleshshade.

After this you have dark foundation.
and can tidy up with bugman's for tan/sunburnt skin, or you can start layering with additional brighter tones and leave bugman's in recesses for instant shading.

Alternatively you can start with a white primer, slob on some bright tone, use Fleshshade to tone it down, go over it with starting fleshtone for light skin.
GW's skintones are worth their money. Fleshshade is awesome. Also use some darker washes for highlighting, like nuln and agrax.

Vallejo is hit or miss. The paint differs highly in quality, even when talking about the same tone.
But you get more variety for the same money.
Your choice.

There are plenty of tutorials, too. Look for something like a centerpiece, and adapt the techniques you can cram in for your run of the mill guys.
There's also a handy guide with a sororitas popping up once in a while on here, where some makeup techniques and tricks are used.

I have one of those but I tend to just use a piece of cork from a wine bottle with some poster putty stuck to it to hold the mini.

It's all just varying degrees of bells and whistles.

Yes but they are also notoriously unwieldy due to their clunky design. With a perfect weapon skill of 10 this guy would be able to humiliate master fencers in a duel both offensively and defensively with a weapon that is the melee equivalent of spray and pray.

Well, at the very least I need a big magnifying lens because I can't see shit. I attempted to put a model together the other day after not doing anything for over a year and it was just pure guesswork if it was going together correctly.
Getting old is a bitch.
Cork is a novel idea.

>a perfect weapon skill of 10
if I'm remembering the cards right, there were a few with WS over 10.

I forget how high they got, though.

Forgot to add in that WS is not only about hitting you opponent like said. It's also how good the character is at deflecting attacks.

Huh, I see.
I'm working from wfbg's way of using the stats so my perspective is likely a bit scewed.

Id love if someone has that make up thing tutirial it's quite good

This.

it was its own little side game thing

realmofchaos80s.blogspot.ca/2013/10/acceptable-in-80s-combat-cards.html

Tried to google it, but didn't find shit.

You could watch beauty tutorials on youtube in theory.
Whoever made the sororitas gif used a lot of beauty stuff, like using a pinkish glaze on the cheeks, contrasting lips by a thin border around them, using eyeliner/mascara/what ever the shit is called to darken down eye sockets (using washes) and make eyes pop more.

The 80's sure was neat!

Best thing about the 80s is that they're over and we only have to deal with the stuff we like from then.

pretty much

No, I have been waiting for some ebay stuff to complete the gift. I hope user like it

I use a flex-neck magnifying glass / lamp thingamadoo. For holding minis I just use an old paint pot with some poster putty.

Can't post the rest because I opened it half-asleep and I'm in class rn, but Hamiltanon thank you! If you're at the OTC in March we should match, I've got a lot of Convergence

How do I make this more obvious my Custode has a blind eye?

goddamn ipad.

If you hadnt painted i'd've done a scar across

You could paint a sweet scar going through the eye.

Hrm. You could darken the dead eye with nuln, then hit just the middle bits with a bright white, that way it sticks out that there's no pupil.

paint an eyepatch

>Id love if someone has that make up thing tutirial it's quite good

This one?

>Whoever made the sororitas gif

That's where this comes from.

white eye, dark brown dot as a pupil. After that a centered dot of bonewhite.
Also put a white, offcenter reflex dot in the other pupil, to show the difference.

Thanks! This should go into the op.

Seriously, compare first and last frame...

>Finally got time to send out Secret Santa Parcel

This is karma for taking so long to get it out.

THICC

gonna dump these leadbelchers ive been painting while recovering from surgery
please no bully

Beckenham-user, would you mind scanning the pencil-Johnny on the card and posting it here? I neglected to do that with yours, and didn't think of it until I drew a second one () for my domestic SS match in Maryland.

>Ralnor of Stirland! You old Dog, where have you been for the past 27 years!?

I know that was a rhetorical question, but this is an interesting story.

I periodically check Craigslist to see if anyone in my area is unloading an army I might be interested in either playing or flipping. I found a woman in the nearby town of Wiley who had this gigantic Rubbermaid tub full of old models from the 80's that she had been given as payment for a debt, and she was selling it for $500. She had no clue what to do with them; it was all I could do not to crack up when she asked me if I could imagine painting something that small. I confirmed everything the tub's previous owner had told her (yes, there are even conventions and tournaments for these kinds of things!) and then showed her a few pictures of the painted models I had on my phone.

So, I laid out $500 in cash, and have since made back all that plus about $400 more by selling off parts of it. Additionally, I've given away models to some friends (see ), kept some models I was personally interested in (like pic related) as well, and I *still* have about half of the tub full of old Ral Partha and Grenadier blisters that I have zero motivation to move for the pocket change it might net me.

>you really didn't have to send him back!!

You were lamenting that you wished you taken more pictures before you sent him last year, so I thought it would be a nice opportunity to fly him home. He's had a good year living abroad in the States here on my desk.

Come on guys give it time. I didn't hear anything about my SS and myself - I sent my package just today.

Lubartów polish user, your package is on the way. # if you want tracking number.

>You sent your package a week ago.
>You posted on here that you had and the receiver replied.
>You've still heard nothing from the user meant to be sending you stuff.

I hope your recovery goes well.

The pic is pretty dark, and you only really see the skin... What's the tone you used for the skin highlights? Is it yellow?
Anyway, you need to thin it and do multiple layers to get a good coverage down. Right now it looks like brush marks. However, I like how you followed the muscles with the highlight.
What about giving it another 1-2 layers, and giving it a skin tone or brown wash, for the recesses?

i started with rat skin flesh which comes out kinda orange and did an bunch of layers of flesh wash eldar flesh dry and ungor and bestigor flesh layers

Ok, but the last layer looks like ass though.
Give it another layer and try to get rid of the brush marks.

Oh, and the pants look fucking decent!
Same goes for the boots.

...

xoxo

Floridanon, your package arrived.
Thank you very much, I hadn't started a gang for the new Necromunda yet, but Escher is going to be it thanks to you.
You are awesome.

>Blood raven gets corrupted by chaos/slannesh
>instead of stealing, he's obsessed with the pleasure of giving gifts.

you make a good point, but I do have a lot more dudes to paint so I might just move on the slaughtermaster and ironblaster

...

Isn't sending dykes to Netherlands pretty much sending owls to Athens?

...

Doesn't mean I don't appreciate getting said dykes user.

>high definition image of my chicken scratch
aaaaaaa

Hopefully everything made it intact/didn't get crushed by the chocolates.

Sides left terran void space

I think it looks ok, but it is kinda overpriced, and the bolters need to be drilled

I am very not used to painting flesh
i was gonna start Tomb Kings instead but FLGS didn't have Tomb Kings had Ogres and Ogres are cool too

Here we go.. first unit painted in 10 years.
