Two points.

1) You're already playing with a nonstandard kobold - they're supposed to hate everything that isn't kobold or dragon. So I don't see why you can't just ignore this rule.

2) It could be argued that they're not likely to change gender if the right balance (or inbalance, rather) of pheromones aren't in the air. A kobold tribe that's 30% female and 70% male sets off the hormones of (some) of its male members to become female based on olfactory input (or vice-versa if there's too many females and not enough males). But you're not a kobold, you don't smell like a kobold, the pheromones you give off are nothing like what a kobold does. So the sex change might not happen.

3) This probably doesn't and can't even happen with all kobolds, else a tribe with 30% female, 70% male would run the risk of ALL those male kobolds switching gender (or vice-versa). There must be something else that determines whether an individual kobold changes gender. If I might activate my /d/eviancy for a moment, I'd say it's imbibing cum (for turning males into females) or natural lubes (for turning females into males).

Kobolds aren't reptiles, any more than dragons are. Scales and laying eggs =/= reptilian. Fish have scales and lay eggs, for example.
