Khaine and Khorne

What's the distinction between Khaine and Khorne? They both seem to be huge asshole gods that are all "rahg kill people for me!".

One of them got broken into pieces, the other caused it by using him as a club to beat up Slaanesh.

There is no real difference, they're two visualisations of the same thing. Our minds cannot concieve of the whirling vortex of hatred in the warp, and so we give it a face and a body we think appropriate. The eldar gave that same vortex a different face.

>One's avatars die if anyone so much as throws a mean look their way.
>The other one likes blood and skulls a bit too much.
Just about sums it up.

One has ai the other has or

The immense overlap between Khaine and Khorne as Khaine being the god of murder and violence is the reason why Khorne tried to claim him as Slaanesh devoured the other eldar gods. This led to a battle between the two, which resulted in Khaine being shattered and spread through the immaterium, ironically "saving" him

In fantasy Terms, Khaine isn't just the God of Murder, and is more accurately described as the god of will to power, or, being an asshole for fun and personal gain. Murder and violence are just his bigger aspects

Eldar Gods had more refined and developed personalities. This is because Eldar minds are more complex than a human's. Ultimately he and Khorne are of similar character, but Khaine actually had a personality besides his violent temperament.

Imagine the difference, if you would, between a violent chimp God and a violent human God. The chimp God would just "oooh oooh smash, much angry", but the human God would be a more complex character (mentally) while delivering the same bouts of destruction.

One was made by the based ELDAR and hence has refined and greater personality, asides from being a good guy in some cases.

Another was made by h*mans and is similarly autistic.

There's Khorne flakes but there's no Khaine flakes.

Most of above is the correct answer, bar shitposts. Khorne is an evil brutal bloodthirsty god of rage and killing. Khaine is a more rafined god of holy bloodthirst, righteous fury and pure, animalistic drive to kill and dominate.

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only Khaine sugar.

>In fantasy Terms, Khaine isn't just the God of Murder, and is more accurately described as the god of will to power, or, being an asshole for fun and personal gain. Murder and violence are just his bigger aspects

Wrong. He is a god of murder and rage. In fact, Elves who total give themselves to Khaine become this picture related. There is no willpower here. Only madness and death.

He isn't refined. Not refined at all. The refinement comes from the Aledari themselves rejecting to fully submit to his call or channelling his rage into beauteous displays of violence. The god himself is a bloodthirsty monster who desires nothing more than see the Aledari extinct.

The situation between the Aledari and the Avatars is linked to the C'tan shards and the Necrons. The Aledari are enslaving the avarats of Khaine and are using them. Don't think that Khaine appreciates this.

Khaine also has zero real stance on honour and glory as Khorne is randomly mentioned to enjoy. Also Khaine is more tolerant of outright fucking magic, granted much of it seems to come from him but you'd never see a Urial the forsaken in service to khorne

>we will never have a new Avatar model and rules that do him justice

i've always gotten the impression that khorne is hatred, violence, rage, and killing in it's purest form, whereas khaine is more about using them as a tool.

>whereas khaine is more about using them as a tool.

No, Khaine is as consumed by hatred and rage as is Khorne.

>get embraced by a giant made from lava
>don't immolate

Justify this.

>End Times

Best Times.

The real question is what's the difference between Khaine, Khaine, and Khorne?

Khaine is descendent of the elven survivors of the previous cycle who ascended to godhood

Khaine is a psychic weapon created by the Aledari during the War in Heaven under the guidance of the Old Ones.

Khorne is a Chaos God who is the manifestation of all the hatred, rage, and violence across the multiverse.

But then which Khaine is the Scorpion Prince? Os is that a third Khaine now?

could just be as simple as different cultures emphasizing different aspects of the same deity

Worst Times.

I remember this. It's an old piece from the background iirc. Wish I could find it.

>End times

very precise

In old lore, Khaine was part of Khorne. Later GW ditched that, but their connection to each other is still obvious to everybody.

Which part? Because the bits about 40k khaine are outright from the Avatar of Khaine lore in the codices. As for fantasy Khaine, he's chief of the Cytharai, the Eldar God's of the underworld and negative aspects. All Eldar worship all of their gods on the Mandela, what separates them is the order and way in which they do so.

>For those familiar with Khorne, there are too many similarities to deny an association between the Blood God and the Lord of Murder. Those who defend Khaine claim Khorne is limited to battlefields and open war. Khorne is a Ruinous Power, a being of Chaos rather than being one of Humanity’s many petty Gods. But the effect of Widowmaker on the Elves, to say nothing of the profane practices of Khaine’s most devoted servants, the Witch Elves, are all clear indicators of some association. To the Dark Elves, there is a distinction. They deny, even unto themselves, that they serve the Blood God. They suggest Khaine is no different in scope and power from those same deities embraced in the Old World.

>The Dark Elves believe the distinction between Khorne and Khaine is one of degree. Where Khaine is the controlled violence of ritual and religious practice, Khorne is the uncontrolled savagery of the rabid dog, the wild killing sprees undertaken by the Norsemen and other madmen of the Chaos Wastes. And just as the Empire takes steps to eliminate followers of Khorne, so too do the Dark Elves snuff the lives of those who embrace the Blood God of Chaos. Khaine’s principal servants are the Witch Elves, called the Brides of Khaine. As maiden-Elves, his servants are wedded to him in midnight rites of blood sacrifice and cruel abasement. When the temple fires grow hot and the night black and cold, Khaine takes his new brides, and blood flows in torrents down the steps of his altar.

>Later GW ditched that

No.

Aledari still refer to Khorne as the father of Khaine.

It was pre 2nd ed

This

They call him khaines "bastard father" and say khorne is the god of violence etc... while khaine is a more pure form of war
