Is it really that bad to include anime style animal people in a game alongside (or in place of) elves and other fantasy races?

Why be so touchy about one glamorous and "pretty" fantasy race over another?

There is nothing wrong with it.

Veeky Forums is just filled with normalfag wannabe chads who like to shit on anime to make them feel like they have good taste.

The majority of people don't give a shit, it's all the loud minority who shit in the pool and wonder why they never get invited to more parties.

This. The Board Fun Police have always been idiots.

Besides the fact that kemonos are literally just people with animal ears? What is the point of a "race" if the only difference between them and humanity is that they wear a cat ear tiara?
And you know CATastrophe was created here right? I don't know if these posters are even actually people or you samefagging, there couldn't be four people this fucking stupid in one board could there?

If your party is cool with it it's fine, but personally I think it's kind of trashy.

I can allow human-like animal people, but not all of them would be pretty.

People who screech at them, but make their beastfolk just animals with human bodies (including putting tits on creatures that are non-mammal and do not have face structure making tits necessary) are just hypocrite faggots.

No more trashy than any other fetish in existence.

Stop using shitty /r9gay/ memes

He was perfectly reasonable about it prick

>He was perfectly reasonable about it prick
There's no need to be defensive mate, I'm just saying that all fetishes are degenerate in some way, so it largely doesn't matter one way or the other aside from preference.

>People who screech at them, but make their beastfolk just animals with human bodies (including putting tits on creatures that are non-mammal and do not have face structure making tits necessary) are just hypocrite faggots.
Haha, no. What you described is the basis for a large portion of beastfolk in folklore and mythology (like Egyptian gods with their literal animal heads). Slapping some costume ears and a maid outfit on a little girl and calling it "animalfolk" is downright laughable.

Not shocking in the least, though. This whole thread so far is just weebs getting upset that people are finally calling them out on blatantly bringing their kinks to the table. You can justify playing a feral or barbaric animalfolk without it being trashy, but you can't bring out a picture like in the OP and have it be taken seriously, ESPECIALLY when the aesthetics of the art (i.e. the anime) is what makes up 99% of your character concept.

I agree with you but you still piss me off

found the faggot.

I think your problem is that you're taking a casual hobby too seriously.

Anime is a fetish now? Oh man, I didn't know.

Well, I never meant it in the way of being fetish related, just that it's kind of lame period.

Nah, if you are playing anywhere other than Veeky Forums it'll be okay.
Heck, even if you get players form Veeky Forums it'll be okay 80% of the time.

Just, you know, boot anyone who has an autistic reaction to them, and you're good.

I picture every character in a pretty anime style anyway.

Eh, as far as I'm concerned, as long as the picture is full body and nothing's exposed or excessively sexual, I personally don't care what kind of picture you use or what style it's drawn in.

I mean, if Conan can feature women nothing but chains and nipple armor, why the fuck should I care about anime chicks who show marginally less skin?

>Besides the fact that kemonos are literally just people with animal ears? What is the point of a "race" if the only difference between them and humanity is that they wear a cat ear tiara?

While the basic design is fairly simple (animal ear tiara and maybe a tail), Kemonos are actually used in a lot of different ways:

>A more acceptable alternative for animal people than furries (which have a bad rep due to that subculture)
>A way of doing animal in human form while still showing signs of them being animals
>Allow beastmen to have cute girls/guys without triggering furry revulsion

Well, excuse me for liking my beastfolk as nonhuman as possible. I definitely realized my way and from hereon every lizard in my campaign will have a pair of stonkin' tits.

So, from reading this thread, literally everyone is okay with it except for like two guys.

Seems like the answer to your question is "A small minority have the autism over anime".

It just sounds like you wan to have your cake and eat it too by having beastfolk without actually having beastfolk.

Because I don't want to play with /jp/ users.

>What is the point of a "race" if the only difference between them and humanity is that they wear a cat ear tiara?
Or a "race" where the only difference isn't even cat ears, just pointy ones?

Depends on how you do it. I'm fine with it, but you show me that picture as some kind of visual aid then I'm going to roll my eyes at you so fucking hard my optic nerves will twist and snap and my eyes will just plop right out of my head onto the table.

>Is it really that bad to include anime style animal people in a game alongside (or in place of) elves and other fantasy races?
What you need to accept is that no matter how well you intend it, some people will jack off to it.
Anime style kenomimi? Weebs will fap to it.
Anthropomorphic beasts? Furries will fap to it.
Literal walking and talking animals? SOMEONE will still fucking fap to it.
I say go for it mate, there's nothing inherrently wrong with it.
If you wouldn't a Honey Badger you're pretty fucking gay though, sorry to say

There's really nothing inherently wrong with it at all. Some people might be put off by it, but I suspect that is because they unconsciously associate it it with some horrible experience that warrants an appointment with a mental health professional.

Good question.

Not if that's what your players are into. Some groups are into it, and for some groups it's cringe level magical world. It varies from group to group.

You'd probably be wise to dump anyone who's cringing from something as tame as anime, though.

That implies all sorts of personal problems and baggage.

t. faggot weaboo

...

I'm not wrong though. This board is infested with people who are contrarian because they think by shitting on [thing] because people like it makes them have good taste in [thing].

None. This is why elves are, usually, nearly alien to humans. A setting where an elf just a human with +1Dex or a human with innate (vancian) magic is a shitty setting desu

AND it implies a lack of self awareness.
I mean, fuck, they're trying to play tabletop. That's been the cringiest hobby for like, 50 years.

T. Flinches and cowers as if struck because he saw a picture of anime.

Cringe isn't fear you retard

That's literally what the action of cringing entail, though.
Flinching and cowering.

or, you could use the OTHER definition, where you bow your head in a servile manner.

Either way, cringing at mundane things isn't really something to be proud of.

Stop replying to the weeb.

And because it's full of people like you who would put their porn out on the table, the reputation is earned. The people I play with are better than that

>Oh no, he's using the DEFINITION OF THE WORD!
>Quick, ignore him!
kek

It's disgust, and secondhand embarassment.

No, not just disgust.
That would just be being disgusted.
To cringe, you actually have to do the physical action of bowing your head in a servile manner, or flinching and cowering as if you had been struck.

That is the literal action you do when you cringe.

Wait, so you don't like conan?

And in what settings exactly are elves sufficiently alien? Tolkien's works? Nordic myth? WoD? Shadowrun? Plus at some point they get alien enough to be the Fair Folk instead, which tend to not be suitable as PCs or even allies.

You realize there are worse art styles out there than anime.

It's not about the anime, user.
It's about how nuts a guy has to be to do the physical action of cringing when they see something as simple as a cartoon that is more well dressed than a conan babe.

It's like finding someone who cringes when he sees a box of cereal.

You do NOT want to deal with that baggage.

Use defines diction, you pedantic perscriptionist fucktard.
Conan is violence fantasy shlock, not a vehicle for porn. There are certain specific animes that could work similarly well, but when you start incorperating elements from touhou, you've completely lost my interest.
There are, but few and far between.

I was referring to the spastic who cringed at an art style, not the people calling him out on being a faggot.

You're right though, I'd much rather deal with a dude who makes his character profile art an anime picture (provided they're properly dressed and not overly sexual) than the guy cowering away because some dude decided to use anime as a point of reference.

Are you fucking autistic? That's not how we are using the word, nor how anyone else does. You're as clever as someone making a joke about "faggot" literally meaning a bundle of sticks

Since it's spurred my interest, here are some synonyms for cringe-
cower, shrink, recoil, shy away, flinch, blench, draw back, wince, shudder, squirm.

And here is a short blurb on the roots of the word, indicating the general type of action a cringe is.
Middle English crenge, crenche, related to Old English cringan, crincan ‘bend, yield, fall in battle,’ of Germanic origin and related to Dutch krengen ‘heel over’ and German krank ‘sick,’ also to crank.

And here are some definitions from modern dictionaries!

bend one's head and body in fear or in a servile manner.
"he cringed away from the blow"

verb (used without object), cringed, cringing.
1.
to shrink, bend, or crouch, especially in fear or servility; cower.

>There are certain specific animes that could work similarly well, but when you start incorperating elements from touhou, you've completely lost my interest.
What's wrong with Touhou? Last I checked none of the characters are depicted in an overly sexual manner. No, fanart doesn't count.

So, basically, you're SAYING you are cringing, but are not actually cringing?

Why the fuck do japanese people drink from bowls?
What benefits do they give over cups? I literally can imagine anything other that being easier to spill as one?

Read my words, autist: Usage Defines Diction. I suppose you're also the kind of retard who insists that what is a wyvern or a dragon should be set the same for all fantasy works

>Are you fucking autistic? That's not how we are using the word, nor how anyone else does.
Even still, the people who go on about cringe are generally the same types of bitches who wouldn't say a damn thing about their displeasure IRL.

>this whole entire autistic tirade about the use/meaning of the word cringe

yeah nah, fuck it. not letting this shit pass if it attracts faggots like you.

Anons, there is no need to get upset just because you used a word that it turns out has an unflattering definition for the user.

They use bowls so that the animal spirits can drink from it, duh.

>conan isn't porn
Get a load of this guy

Maybe you can try not being a bitch and letting pictures on the internet trigger you so badly.

It's loli bait. That's literally the entire point of the franchise
I'm using the colloquial meaning, that if one were to try to use a kemono character in a game I was in, I would feel uncomfortable due to disgust and secondhand embarassment.

So you're not actually cringing.
AND you are able to be made uncomfortable by a kid's cartoon.
AND you suck at bullet hells.

Someone who wants to play as a little girl with cat ears has no place calling others "bitch"

They do if that person is cringing upon seeing a children's cartoon.
I mean, holy shit, how sensitive can you get?

>Implying you actually play the games

>It's loli bait. That's literally the entire point of the franchise
Actually, the point is in it being a curtain shooter where most of the screen is enemy projectiles. Just because you get a stiffy from it doesn't mean that it's loli bait mate.

Nah. I wouldn't even know OP is a touhou if you didn't point it out.
But if someone's saying the entire point of touhou is anything other than bullet hell, the only possible reason for that is being shit at bullet hells.

It's not about seeing a cartoon, you fucking autist, it's about the prospect of someone trying to run an RPG on it. Watch whatever dumb shit you want on your own, but don't bring it out and put on the table and expect others to participate

I'm not the one shrinking away just because someone pulled up a cat girl on their phone.

Given the new IP post counters in this thread, you actually can bring it to the table and most people will participate gladly.

There's like, less than a 10% chance you run into one of the guys who has some kind of weird complex revolving around anime.

I don't know that it is, it's just the same artstyle

Wait, then why did you bring touhou up?
WHICH of these animes is a touhou?

This is the same kind of retarded, annoying defensiveness that comes from furfags when you shit on them for their fetish.

There's nothing weird about disliking moe weaboo nonsense, you fucking retard

Actually, it seems like approximately 3 people getting upset about being corrected on their word usage, if you go by the comments people gave when new IPs showed up.

Here's the primary definition of 'cringe' from an actual dictionary. Google isn't a proper dictionary.

Most people I hang out with generally don't care about anime one way or another and the ones that don't generally aren't the type who would bow in fear at someone bringing up cat girls on their phone.

Literally making mountains out of molehills.

As I literally said in that post, I brought it up because it is the same artstyle. Can you not read?

The primary definition of cringe is not to bow in fear.

>This is the same kind of retarded, annoying defensiveness that comes from furfags when you shit on them for their fetish.
Says the guy getting butthurt over people bringing up the definition of cringe.

Yes, yes, you sorted through numerous dictionaries to find one that is up to date with your new generation colloquialisms.

USAGE DEFINES DICTION, AUTIST

It is in the first several dictionaries google gives you, though.

Look, we get it, anime literally makes you bow your head in fear. Some people are afraid of snakes, some people are afraid of anime apparently.

Nothing to be ashamed of.

No need to get upset over someone using a word correctly, or pointing out what the physical action of cringing entails.

Consider saying that you cringed internally next time? That would get across the same punch, but wouldn't make it seem like you are some kind of crazy person.

>Defending injecting your shitty porn into your games this hard

>being this shitty at bullet hells

If it keeps thin-skinned bitches like you away from me and my group, I'll make anime pictures mandatory for all my party's character portraits :^)

No matter how many times you suggest otherwise, usage defines diction. It's how words and language though. Hilarious though, how you've completely given up on arguing on behalf of your anime trash

It's actually pretty weird to care that much about anime in a positive or negative way.

Hence why most of the people who responded said "Eh, S'okay" or some synonym therof, with a couple on either side saying "I actually like it" or "I actually don't like it".

That's not the primary definition of cringe.

I'm not actually a big anime guy.
What I am is a guy who knows what cringing is.
Yes, yes, you had to cherrypick through numerous dictionaries, you told us.

Blubber is not "thick skin", moron

You could say that about every board on this site, being edgy and contrarian is modern Veeky Forums's defining characteristic.

>Yes, yes, you had to cherrypick through numerous dictionaries, you told us.
>cherrypicking
>by going by the first result that is an actual dictionary
??????

>It's not a definition if I don't like it

Of course, all dictionaries that disagree with you are not real dictionaries.
