ITT, we make a pantheon with historical(ish) characters.

>Olga of Kiev, goddess of revenge and inventive murder
>Invoked by people who absolutely want their enemies, and their enemies's family, and their enemies's friends, and anyone else tied to their enemy dead or enslaved.
>Also for people who like spicing things up when simply backstabbing people isn't enough (an attribute shared with many other gods).

Where do we build this panhistoric psychopath haven? Who decides which historical people are worthy of eternal enshrinement? I have a strange feeling that Hitler would make the Pantheon as he patron saint of doing nothing wrong or something like that. And Custer would obviously need a spot as the patron saint of bro's who just got in over their heads from hubris and egos so large that falling from your own would be fatal. What about Harvey Weinstein? Patron Saint of using his patronage for personal gain?

How many spots will be available?
Is there an objective rationale for acceptance?

Attila, the god of conquest and ruthless warfare

I don't think you know what inb4 means.

>Not goddess of love and loyalty

Alexander
God of most excellent strategy and logistics. Also, booze

Arminius

>god of forests, ambushes, guirrella warfare and barbarism

Do you want to see my "Human Pig"?

Tamerlane: Basically one legged Khorne on steroids.

>Lincoln
>The 2 faced god of both breaking chains and binding people together by law
>In his aspect of the chain breaker he is seen as manipulating those in power to free servants
>In his aspect of binding people he is as a conquror, bringing people to heel by strength of arms.

Sasha the Gray goddess?

Don’t be silly, I’m sure Veeky Forums can make this work without-

Oh dear.

>The Grand Prayer of Sasha
>Gghaaa gagh ggagh gagh gaggh

Like how Athena and Ares both shared the job as war deity, Olga has a similar deity, William the Bastard/Conqueror

God of conquest and destruction, where Olga is goddess of revenge and retribution and creative ways to slaughter, William is the god of conquering, dominance, and offensive military campaigns

>Invoked by people who want to expand their territory, or restore order to rebellious parts of their own territories
>Myths tell of a northern country that tried to stand up to him, resulting in him destroying the entire area, slaughtering hundreds
>Is the most amoral god that is still in the pantheon and isn't outright considered evil

>Paracelsus, god of forbidden knowledge and astrology
>Invoked by people who want to know things out allowed or forgotten either because of curiosity or ambition or want some sort of prediction
>He's the keeper of every known thing, but he's not to be trusted and prefer to tell half truths

>Leonardo da Vinci, god of arts, wisdom, and invention

>The patron deity for artists, craftsmen, inventors, and architects
>Also one of the wisest gods in the pantheon, even if not the direct god of wisdom

Should we have some kind of title for minor aspect? I was thinking of Socrates as god of wisdom with some sorts of spirits that represent the Sophist as enemies of wisdom.

Greeks had Ares, god of war, Athena, goddess of war, wisdom, strategy and crafts, Enyo, goddess of war, destruction and violence, Eris, goddess of strife and discord, Nemesis, goddess of revenge and retribution, Furies, goddesses of retribution and punishment, many daughters of Eris who personified battle, war, murder, anarchy, battle cries and other stuff, and various other spirits and personifications.

>Sonya "Golden Hand", goddess of thievery, cons, and more generally guile
>Tales of her deeds are legendary and well-known, of course, but she doesn't actually seem to have any clergy. She is revered half-openly mostly by small-time thieves and conmen, while...
>...in truth, most of her actual priests are infiltrated in other priesthoods, daring to steal precious relics and impersonating high members of the clergy, just because they can (and thus, they should).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonya_Golden_Hand
>"A headless statue by an unmarked grave in Moscow's Vagankovo Cemetery is used as a shrine to Sonia; worshippers, who believe Sonya to be buried there, ask for her spiritual assistance in their own crimes."
Didn't know she actually had followers, uh.

Eris pads her chest

>Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, manifestation of the mysterious force known as the Telos and god of social progress and revolutions.
>invoked for success in revolution and change
I felt that Stalin or Marx would be too memey but the idea of Hegel becoming sainted as a personification of the Telos the same way Laozi was interpreted as a manifestation of the Tao sounded funny to me.

Don't be obtuse. Hitler would obviously be A patron saint of obedience to Authority without question and religious fervor without consideration for Morality or sociological impact.

>Hannibal Barca, God of Tactics, Strategy, and Battle
>worshipped mostly by generals and military officials, though also has followers among the rank and file.
>Invoked for insight before a battle, especially one where cunning and ambition are vital for victory

Samuel Colt, the Equalizer

The power of Samuel Colt is invoked in situations when a human is confronted by a natural or supernatural threat, and needs to depend on tools or technology to save themselves.

He is the patron saint of gunsmiths and gunners; his priests are called Peacemakers.

Erodote, god of knowledge and history
