Slaanesh is still about violence, it's just sexy violence. Slaanesh was more about rocknroll when she was introduced.

Gods were created in the Realms of Chaos books. The first it's 1988 and contain Slaanesh and Khorne. Also the first appearance of Grey Knights.

The second is 1990 and it's about Nurgle and Tzeentch.

There is a good chance that Slaanesh is actually the first Chaos God created by GW.

Victims of religious oppression aren't as vulnerable as victims of rape. Unless they are also victims of rape. You'll note that 40k lore doesn't satirize Catholic priests and boys. Though that would be a more fair target because of the gender of the victims.

Slaneesh was added at the same time as the other chaos god. However, it was then retconned to fit with the elda'rs empire fall.

It's more because public perception have changed since the late 80's.
Early 40K chaos was basically metalhead in space, slaneesh and it's noise marine even more so. Mawhack hair cuts, topknots, they are also from the same era.

The public perception of sex/excess have changed. Porn became mainstream. Hard rock is now the music the grandad of current kids listened too.

GW being PG13+, Slaneesh would not be released in the puritan morality of today, and something more kid-friendly comically evil, like the great horned rat, would become a chaos god instead. And slaneesh demons made straight up scaryugly (=bad guys) instead of alluring.

The concept of slaneesh itself would have changed too. The contre-culture of youth that are from middle class parents changed from punk to electro. The drugs/sex/excess aspect stay mostly the same, but the visual codes are very different. What used to be hardrockers and punck half naked in leather straps with an electric guitar are now basically wearing T-shirt and glasses, playing music from computers. Alice Cooper => Skrillex. Slaneesh released today would burrow much more visual codes and iconography from cyberpunk than from metallica.

WHFB was developed very gradually. I have a PDF of the first rulebook and there's very little lore, it's mostly based around small skirmishes with characters you create yourself.
