POST MECH CYOAS

>tfw always enjoyed this cyoa, including the original and other variants posted
>realistically would die or get enslaved because of my shitty, non-aggressive build that's low on weapons but high on hacking and stealth

Sucks to suck.

I did not.

Those are suits though not mechs.

Posting one of my favorites

...

...

...

...

Did the same. That's why the factions exist.

...

It was suits all along.

Is a tank a suit

...

Stick with the factions that are about self-reliance. Revive the shitpost rage of old.

Never got into the threads. By the time they branched off into their own thing my planned position as a communications operator seemed more or less pointless. Had tons of fun imagining myself as a go-between for people heading out to missions and what not, even setting up safehouses and new identities for people, but taking any of it beyond the realm of my imagination just felt pointless as a needless distraction from everyone else's run & gun style fun.

Do you fit multiple people into a coat?

...

Do you not?

The mail service faction existed basically for people like you. Capitalist neutral with a side of diplomatic neutrality.

Only if my coat isn't Fortress-sized.

Ditto, pretty much. Was around for the start but mostly lurked and watched how the charts progressed. Didn't feel a pressing need to do otherwise.

Although I did write shitty fiction. That's always an option to explore the amusing ideas further.

>get a powered exoskeleton suit
>become a courier

I guess that's better than a glorified telephone operator that becomes a high school girl and streams vidya as a cover until discovered only to roll the dice and take a new form and identity. Not what I had in mind, but... an option, I suppose.

...

Tell me your problems, /cyoag/.
I'm here, and I'll listen.

>Ditto, pretty much. Was around for the start

Neat, if you posted then that means you're the other guy. I remember one other person back then that was excited about the concept of being an Operator of sorts, in the comms rather than military sense. I remember posting with that person about our "coward" builds a few times, with the idea of running and hiding instead of actually shooting our way out of any sort of trouble.

My memory is kind of fuzzy but that sounds vaguely familiar. I ended up making Eyes a bit after that.

Not being shot at in the first place, as much as possible, seems very logical and sensible.

...

There are three of us here.

>I remember posting with that person about our "coward" builds a few times, with the idea of running and hiding instead of actually shooting our way out of any sort of trouble.
I started a faction with four others that was all about running away and flipping the bird, but that just resulted in a lot of triggering. Tank is that you?

Were either of you the guy who had the submarine coms station/deep sea transport for covert insertions?

never ever

Someone sell me on the difference between
>Guildmaster
and
>Master worker

>Guildmaster
+ Sets up guild HQ in your capital
+ Boost economy
+ craftsmen will journey to you in order to join guild
+ Lowers service costs (related to guild)
+ Increase in tourism
vs
>Master worker
+ Does job (any) very well
+ Trains others in the field of expertise
+ Dedicated (?)

Wouldn't having a guild imply master workers? I just don't get how you'd use this option well.

>I ended up making Eyes a bit after that.

Must've been after I stopped following things.

>There are three of us here.

Whoops, sorry. That was a while ago, and my memory's a bit bad, too. I know I posted with one of you about how overpowered the hacking options could be. Sure, you could blatantly steal money, but for a harder-to-trace method you could virtually own the stock market by abusing spyware and doing insider trading.

>spoiler
Nope, there's a reason I capitalized "Operator" in my last post. That's the name I went with, but again, I didn't actually take part in the threads. I saw the way things were headed and bowed out...maybe a bit too early.

...

Imo, while Guildmaster listens to you, he also has his own agenda and goals, whereas Master worker follows your orders.

>Must've been after I stopped following things.
Could be. Was in the very first few threads, but I didn't bother naming/making a proper character sheet until some time later. From what I recall people were considering the implications of what would happen to their home/family/loved ones and how to not be black vanned. The first factions were made a bit after that.

Dammit. I want to go read the archives now.

I don't remember if that was me or not, honestly. Had to start looking through the archives, I forgot about Safety Net. I believe after the second "Ideas thread" was where I bailed.

>Dammit. I want to go read the archives now.

Thread one: archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/30475668

Thread two: archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/30488236

Beyond that, you're on your own. Sorry. Fuck though, that was four years ago.

I swear the discussion in these threads is getting more intelligent by the day.

>these familiar names
My memory's pretty fuzzy too. Though I recall the threads were good at first but they quickly devolved as people who weren't autistic or dedicated shitposters already found their own factions and took it elsewhere. So it's not like there was much to miss out on.

Except maybe the Armored Descent RPG updates. Those were good updates.

...

Would you have felt better if I replied with this image instead?

I feel like going /k/omando rn, so here is the ultimate suit/weapon.
My question for OP: is the suit permanent and does it alter my physical body or merely act as an extension of it? Is this OC or based on something else? Is this supposed to appeal to furfags in some way, because it feels like it?

Class:
>Mesh
Features:
>Extra Limbs (thus allowing utility of more than one gun, faster magazine replacement, and better movement)
>Gills (for aquatic operations)
>Tremorsense (seen in the wild, very useful for detecting enemies in or on land. Can be utilized as a form of locating enemies in water as well)
>Natural Weapons - Fangs and claws (eliminates the need for daggers, impossible to lose, and can be useful for traversing more complex terrain)
>Fins (beneficial in aquatic operations)
>Flight - glider wings, ornithoptic (allows roof-top traversal and quick methods of escape from landbound targets, also can be used to dodge more effectively and to sneak more effectively since tremorsense will not be able to detect it, and since gliding wings are quiet enough to be undetectable to even the most sensitive of ears due to low disturbance of atmosphere)
Body Type:
>Lamia (adhesion and additional strength lend to further mobility and stealth. Body slides accross the ground rather than and foot-falls which means mitigated noise, thus making it hard for tramorsense to detect motion. Bodily form allows high levels of mobility in narrow areas (such as vents) and as shown in nature, can lend to high levels of speed and dexterity)
Part 1

As far as I recall from all the discussion, the suit does whatever the fuck you want it to do. It's not meant to permanently alter your body unless if you think that's how it works for you.

...

...

Im fairly happy with the "race" selection and the "gods" components of the cyoa Im working on. I just hope I wont be too annoyed at the whole physical skills / magical skills sections. It always feels like there's not enough choices no matter my list.

>does it alter my physical body

Not the OP, but I'll answer anyway since the cyoa answers your question if you keep reading.

Technically the suit can alter your actual body, if you bought any of the nanites. Canvas actually changes your appearance to whatever you like in the human range and Progenitor turns you into a space elf. You could make an argument for Mycelium II as it allows you to rely solely on photosynthesis to stay alive, but Hydra and Berserker seem somewhat of a stretch. Still arguable, but a bigger stretch as they're not readily visible, not that I believe Mycelium shows any physical signs either.

As for the suit being permanent, if you mean that you're stuck inside of it forever then no. The fluff text at the beginning mentions how you need to shut the suit down to recharge in sunlight after so long (the number of days as its Power rating) for so many hours (20% of one Power point per hour for every Recovery point). Capacitor helps with this, and people traditionally operate on the assumption that it can be charged while collapsed if you have either Collapsible perk. Beyond that, there's text which outright mentions the ability to be outside of your suit, such as Mycelium II under the nanite section.

If you mean to ask if the suit is yours forever and can't be stolen, that's how I take it. The intro text has you recognized as the pilot of the suit and allows you to design it to your liking. Also as the intro says, it's inspired by Dr. Divergent's Power Armor CYOA.

Suit AI:
>Soldier (Though Agent is quite useful, Soldier is best for on-the-fly action while Agent would only be useful in special ops)
User Interface:
>Brain Implant (best of all worlds, manual is inconvenient for quick movement, nerve suit doesn't have enough options and Brainwave Harness leaves your body exposed, which could be detrimental for multi-day missions). A neuro-physical merge of some sort would be best, though would require a physical connection.
HUD:
>Suit Status (mandatory)
>Advanced Suit Status (tactically necessary)
>Hawkeye (useful for sniping and long-distance operations)
>Thermal Vision (useful like Hawkeye, can work in night visions place though most things will be black-grey)
>Sonar (useful aquatically and in some instances on ground too. Radar is arguably better since it can detect other suit-controllers and remain undetectable to enemies. Sonar anyways because why the fuck not?)
COMMs:
>Radio Transmitter (on a budget here)
>Defense Maze (necessary)
:
Weapons:
>Revolver (for those closer encounters where a sniper rifle is not good enough)
>Particle Beam (Highest Accuracy, Range, and Damage. Which are all that matter in a sniper rifle)
Defense:
>Scrambler
>Emergency Evac (very useful in dire situations)
Drones:
>Scout (to survey)
>Scavenger (to retrieve and extract)
Upgrades:
>Cyber Controls I & II (necessary prepardness for most any environment)
>Camoflage (optomize stealth always)
>Storage (very useful)
>Cyber Brain (2 lives are better than 1)
Nanites:
>Hydra (bodily repair is useful)

Sum total: -25 resources

>dat ending
anarcho-militarist utopia anyone?

>Take poison
>Gain the power to reincarnate myself after death (memories/powers intact)
>Die to poison
>Come back, no poison, infinite powers

The inspiration.

Alternate updated version, with factions.

I think he was talking about the dilemma of having say, a skintight suit combined with the Lamia type.

This shit compared to This craps so dense, who has time for it.

Almost the entirety of /cyoag/ at the time. OC that came out roughly around then simply didn't see the light of day.

Well in that case, as said then most likely.

>mfw the /cyoa/ threads on Veeky Forums do a better job of scratching my fetish itch than the ones on /trash/
i get hard to the idea of altered bodies or tf btw.

I actually like the versions Dr Divergent did better than any of the others that were inspired by him. Admittedly that may mostly be because it was the one that tickled my autism in the best of ways and all the others were just trying to recapture that feeling.

Imagination is better than viagra

I guess I just need pictures, I see the walls of text and just skip it, especially when it gets all hard-science-y.

I can't help it, and I feel like a cunt for it, but I just need to ask one question.

What's it like, being a dirty casual?

It's like you don't even need the other boards anymore! Welcome to Veeky Forums, we hope you enjoy your stay.

...

>i get hard to the idea of altered bodies or tf btw.

Welcome home.

It was actually a legitimate question. Worded poorly, but I'm still honestly curious. I've read things all my life, the house I grew up in resembled a sort of library more than a home since books were stacked in every single room. Walls of text have never been off-putting to me in the slightest, they've always been a welcome sight.

Ok guys. Opinion on my gods? I'll include an example. Dunno if you people like gods that dont particularly give any major buffs.
Vataria
The Dragon God of Fortune
Major Themes : Fortune, Treasure
Minor Themes : Trade, Gossip

Vataria is an ancient dragon worshiped since time immemorial. As his body failed with age, he replaced it with the divine energy of those that prayed to him. Through his ascendance into godhood, his body and behavior became influenced by the views of his believers. His body was slowly turned to gems, jewels, and precious metals. Unlike most dragons, his attitude is quite relaxed and forgiving. Since his body regenerates anyways, he has allowed a trial to become tradition. If one can escape with treasure from his body or horde, he shall bestow it as a gift. Each successive entry into his abode, the power he exhibits increases. As his breath has the ability to turn those effect into precious metals, there have been plenty of greedy fools who have been turned into a part of his horde. Of course, one can also request a meeting instead. Given his age and his inability to leave his horde, he is quite friendly and inclined to trade for interesting or unique items as well as stories and news from afar.

As a follower of Vataria, it will be much easier to trade with him without waiting for a long time, as well as gather information. He will also attempt to avoid killing you should fail his trial. Of course, there is no guarantee, especially for the greedy. Remember that he can not leave his abode so you must make the journey to him. Word of your good deeds and reputation will also spread faster than normal.

It really is tho.
Like the prodigal son i have returned home to the closeted folds of Veeky Forums.
So, where's the D&D?

Some people get out of school and never read a book again unless required to.

If i weren't such a lazy bastard i would make a CYOA

...

That was the honest answer, don't get me wrong I read a decent amount, and I enjoy doing CYOAs as a hobby but when provided the option of the text version and the Mechanons version its much more fun for me to do mechanons. Same thing with the traveller cyoa, i've opened it but never got past the introductory page.

Hence why my answer to whats it like was its okay. Can't say its great, can't say its bad. Its just what it is.

>make CYOA about the Eastern Front
>dedicate most of my time researching and watching WW2 battles
>probably would have been easier to create a made up fantasy cyoa

will add pistols l8r

I guess a fantasy CYOA is applied easier to a wider ranged audience, whereas only some could appreciate all the effort you have put into your more specific and focused CYOA.

There's 1 and a half more page of Companions, so additional 20-24

Fair enough. At least you're not scared of reading, I suppose I can understand preferring visuals, I'm the same with LN/manga/anime. If it's animated, I prefer to watch that, rather than read through the manga or novels. I'll likely still do that too, since almost no anime ever ends where the original stuff did, but I can't eat food and read something as easily as I can eat and watch something.

Yeah im the same, ill watch anime if its good enough ill go find the manga but i'm yet to find a LN thats actually worth reading instead of waiting for more manga/anime.

Wow, You're even listing shit like Penetration, angles, upgrades and historical accuracy.

Good job

The whole radio thing with anastasia is basically suicide for her. There wasn't signal encryption back then(hence the use of stuff like code talkers and enigma cyphers). Something like letters would probably be somewhat more believable.

Not necessarily related(radio-wise atleast), but if you want an idea of how careful spies were supposed to be back then and have a half hour to waste, here's a training video for OSS(CIA precursor) agents from the era youtube.com/watch?v=3g6nMxIfM3k

Stationery, not stationary.

This is more autistic than I can handle, but I can't say it isn't damn beautiful to see actual guns instead of a limited and generic or outright fictional arsenal.

Oh and I'm still waiting for my loli waifu.

I want a powerset for Hell Rebellion so I can actually do some fighting. What's a good cYOA for general powers?

Also Celt please update horseman kingdom

Thanks fren

Fair point, I'll probably add more depth to it later.
Or if I can do more research about it.

>This is more autistic than I can handle
>but I can't say it isn't damn beautiful
T-Thanks You t-too

Truth be told, the reason why I got interested in making this project is because of playing too much RO2, CoH2 and watching docus.

Second and third page will have Anime qts fren

Eventide academy is pretty good, dont have a copy though

If it makes you feel better, I was thinking of making a CYOA where you end up as Hitler.

>Truth be told, the reason why I got interested in making this project is because of playing too much RO2, CoH2 and watching docus.
Could be worse. Someone started talking about boats in front of me and two weeks later I'm planning a battleship CYOA.
