How much different would the Horus Heresy have been if even one more Legion than did turn, had or hadn't turned?

How much different would the Horus Heresy have been if even one more Legion than did turn, had or hadn't turned?

Would the Emperor still be alive if one of the Traitor Legions had stayed loyal? Would the Heresy have been a complete success if one of the Loyalists Legions had turned traitor?

And which of the canon Loyalists and Traitorist Legions would be most likely to turn/not turn in such a scenario?

Considering how much a close thing the rebellion already was, a single legion more on either side would have turn it from Pryhic Draw to a win for either side. As for which Legion would switch sides, I’d say the Dark Angels are the most likely to go traitor and the Iron Warriors are the most likely to stay loyal (If the Emperor had just told old Potty “good job, son”)

If Fulgrim didnt pick up that knife he would have stayed loyal

I'm gonna go with Magnus & the Thousand Sons staying loyal. He tried his best to help out the Imperium & it all went sideways after he tried warning Emps. If he had stayed loyal Emps wouldn't have had to sacrifice Malacador, he wouldn't have to be constantly strapped into the Throne & The Emps might have been less fucked up with Malacador at his side facing Horus.

The Thousand Sons geneseed is inherently flawed and the only reason they’re not a legion of mutated flesh monsters is because of Maggy’s covenant with Chaos

The rest of his legion turned pretty fucking easy to blame it on just the knife

It's not that hard to turn when your beloved Primarch is giving you a hands-on lecture on the benefits of Chaos every weekend.

If Olympia hadn't rebelled Perturabo would have been a loyalist. In fact, he didn't even consider him and his legion traitors and got onto Kroeger for calling the "loyalists" just that.

>"You don't know the things I dream. No one does, no one ever cared enough to find out."

He was the better Guilliman.

>you will never live in utopian Olympia where it's defended by Iron Warriors with mastermind Perturabo wearing the finest leather sandals and a white robe walking with a tablet in-hand down a street and seeing the great ruler of Olympia enjoying his genius arts and architecture
>you will never appreciate Perturabo for what he truly wanted to be, a builder of great things, and wave at him as he walks and receive a curt nod from him

>He was the better Guilliman.
Lol dumbest thing I've read all day.

>Considering how much a close thing the rebellion already was, a single legion more on either side would have turn it from Pryhic Draw to a win for either side.
What he said.

Though I don't see the Lion's half the Dark Angels turning, now they've built up loyalty as a major trait of his. The Khan may have, if Horus had spoken to him before Magnus's shard told Jaghatai that the Warp was involved. That'd mean two loyalist legions at Terra, enough to doom the palace.

I could see the Thousand Sons receiving a lesser punishment and remaining loyal. It wouldn't be easy given how deep Tzeench got into them, but if it's Tzeench vs. the Emperor, it's not a forgone conclusion.

Or you might have the Alpha Legion more firmly taking sides... or Guilliman not taking sides and breaking away. His story would've been more interesting if they had written more about his being tempted to make his own empire, imo.

>someone from the Ordo Chronos goes back in time and shows Fulgrim a pc of how fugly he'll be after he turns to Chaos
>Fulgrim becomes the loyalest loyal who ever loyalled and tips the balance in favor of the Emperor

Thousand Sons would be easy to keep loyal. Literally just don't send Russ, give Valdor complete command and just peacefully pick up Magnus. Bloody their noses a bit if they resist, but there's a whole lot of times the Sons would have gone for peace if it'd been offered.

Despite his tendency to be neutral, I don't think Khan would ever go traitor like some people have said. He seems to recognize that rebellion and internal war is only going to fuck things in the long run for him and everyone.

Russ seems like he could pretty easily fall to Khorne. I'm not even sure why he didn't.

A lot of the Emperor's Children remained Loyal, they were just all bombed to death at the Istvaan system.

What the guy defined by perfectionism and excessive appretiation of beauty eouldnt have fallen to Slaanesh some other way?

What would happen to the sons if not bound to their armor?

Perty was a bit like Curze in some regards. They both had noble visions of the universe and inherently good dreams. Curze wanted justice and Perty wanted to be a great builder and a just ruler.

However, how did they actually go about achieving this? Enough has been said about Curze.

Perty treated his sons like dirt, had very little compassion for anything or anyone, he was a very 'ends justify means' kinda guy, he was extremely arbitrary commander who did things on whim, etc.

Compare him to Sanguinius, or Robute, or even the Khan. He wanted a utopia, but he would never actually do anything to achieve it.

What if the majority of the White Scars turned traitor but the Khan stayed loyal?

>you will never be beaten to death by your friends because you didn't all score all A's on your tests

still love Perty tho

Pertardo decimated his Legion at random. Scoring an A or a F wouldn't have mattered.

All the Legions swapped alliegence.
Whose Heresy would it be now?
And what would the outcome be in this scenario?

but he did that because all of them ware not as good as they should, in his opinion.

This is incorrect, though. The Thousand Sons have good intentions, but ALL are fatally compromised. If they turn against Chaos, the entire legion is subject to flesh-change.

It would probably be more interesting if White Scars took this chance to just leave the Imperium and set off on their own
>White Scars under Khan realize neither side is just, and set off to the galaxy's edge to explore new territories and maybe go to other galaxies

Rowboat's, easily.

The Emperor created the marines, if anyone can help with the issue, it is him.

And if you notice, 95% of the thousand sons are walking dustbins. Some help.

Sanguinius. He was the Emperor's favorite, Horus's counterpart. EVERYONE liked him and trusted him, if he said something, others would follow.

The Thousand Sons are unlucky as fuck, yes, but still, their only way to survive as a Legion was to turn to Chaos.

Magnus was never loyal you mental midget.

You are wrong, the Thousand Sons betrayed the Emperor long before Prospero got BTFO, they constantly ignored the ruling of Nikea

>Sanguinius. He was the Emperor's favorite, Horus's counterpart.

Neither of those are true. If the Emperor trusted bird boy so much why did he asign a Space Wolf watch pack to shadow him?

The pre-Heresy thousand sons were hardly the first group in the Imperium to selectively ignore laws that didn't suit their purposes. Doing so did not make them traitors.

Meant for

Only after a massive fuckup though, people always seem to forget that
