GW killed an amazing setting

Boring two dimensional game with average models and a shit setting. Best suited to children and with none of the charm, Grace, tactics or panache of fantasy. The community is shit and the armies expensive. There are no elves either. It's a skirmish game when we already have 40k.
Just everything about it is shit.

Part of the walk takes me past a shopping center, and I have to cross several streets. So, depending on how bad traffic is, crossing streets can add up to an extra half hour to the walk.

I've got no interest in the setting. I'm not going to pay the additional money to buy into anybody's proprietary setting if I'm not interested, least of all an exorbitant GW one.

I'm hopeful, but not optimistic. Fantasy had a lot of time to develop a character, and had some pretty good writers and artists over its time. Given the disparity between older and more recent 40k lore, and given how AoS has been handled so far, I don't have all that much hope.

Plus, while playing campaigns with long-time friends in 40k, we can just pretend that the Primaris-era lore never happened and carry on as per usual. But with stuff like Bretts and TKs getting squatted and the classic Empire range seeming to be following, not engaging with the new lore seems to be a non-option. Even the survivors, like the Skaven (my enduring favorite) seem to have lost some of their lustre in the transition.

I really doubt that the fluff will get better, in the best case we might see AoS as another LoL or Warcraft ripoff. Both Fantasy and 40k lore got to grow in the golden age of GW (before the Chaos and Marines wanking become their staple) talent wise. Nowadays GW would never have spend that much money on good writers and artists (it's much cheaper to hire literally who writers and people from DeviantArt).

The setting is for kids. They killed off the desire to play for older people. The modelling and painting aspect is still there but the simple rules don't lend itself to a good time.

As to them making it a skirmish they are just double dipping into the same pool. They are cannibalizing their own profits. People have a finite amount of money to spend on hobby and while they might buy some AoS it doesn't mean they are spending anymore than before.

It still just devolves into two blobs hitting each other and taking casualties until one blob is victorious. Great tactics there for sure...

I don't see that at all. AoS threads are sadly or were plagued by trolls and false flaggers. But the WHFG seems pretty grand so all I see is the aggro from one side and that's Fantasy "fans" who probably had not played or bought the game in years.
