My d&d group finally collapsed in on itself like a dying star...

My d&d group finally collapsed in on itself like a dying star. This gives me a chance to reform the group with better people and choose a better system. Suggest a new system for me and the non-autistics salvaged from the previous group.

It'd probably help if we knew what sort of things you liked and disliked.

Find players at the local mental hospital and play GURPS.

>collapsed in on itself like a dying star
Look for some skinnier people, for one.

Do you like it strategy or when make problem?

Well. What does your crew like?
I'd say the Warmahordes RPG as well as Tenra Bansho Zero, Legend of the Five Rings and Warhammer Fantasy RPG would be decent approaches in the absence of more data.

>the non-autistics salvaged from the previous group.
Ask them too, you know, that may help the group not to collpase again.

>My d&d group finally collapsed in on itself like a dying star.
Tell us more, bro.

WFRP 2E

What was you're old system? Its hard to beat it if we don't have a baseline or idea of what you like unless you were playing FATAL.

Decide on the kind of story you want to try and tell with your next game. Decide on the themes you are aiming to use. Then come back here and ask which system would do that best.

A dying star does not need to collapse in on itself you uneducated pleb.

The best dice system I ever played was old world of darkness. Intuitive and simple. The most based setting of fantasy is AD&D 2ed. You could alternatively talk to your group and ask them what they want to play and pick something that fits that bill. You have a system and setting for almost everything nowadays from playing dolphins to loli zombies.

My remaining players enjoy strategy in battles, light role play, a lighthearted plot.
Classic.
Don't worry, I'm talking to them as well.
That guy was caught cheating and angry feminist called him out on it. Fighting ensued. Ended up with that guy going on a tirade about women players in tg and angry feminist exploding on every man in the group for some petty bullshit. So we are ditching those two as well as my non-autistic player's uninterested gf. Leaving me with a 3 solid players.
5e

2E.

>My remaining players enjoy strategy in battles, light role play, a lighthearted plot.

D&D4E

>strategy in battles, light role play
If you are willing to stomach another DnD you might want to check 4e.

>implying that there is a better system

Zweihander It is lethal but only when you dont think ahead & strategize. You can do a lot of humor in the grimdark settings. Play with tropes & expectations. Think of the scenes in Monty Python Holy Grail, with the filth farmers or the witch.
It's got really good rules & a ton of monsters, even rules to make your own

Legend of the 5 Rings, Warhammer Fantasy, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Blades in the Dark, GURPS and World of Darkness (new, old, doesn't matter). Also Shadowrun.

Just remember that the crowd of WoD might be a bit odd, as well as the guys from GURPS can be a bit autistic with their numbers and math-related things.

Try to find Warhammer fans that can take a joke and don't take the setting seriously, otherwise you might have a bad time.

In L5R, like in Warhammer, don't take the setting too seriously. If you want, avoid going too deep into the lore, as it doesn't make a lot of sense.

In Blades in the Dark, only play it if you like a bit more freedom in rolling and narrating.

>strategy in battles, light role play, a lighthearted plot
Warhammer 2e would be good, although you might want to give them free advancements: the world is pretty grim and lethal for low-experience peeps.

That, or L5R, which is a game of Samurai. Ergo, noblemen and women who are of a more martial caste than the peasants -usually- and deal with a lot of different crap. Like the Crab, who are holding eldritch monstrosities at bay from their high, almost impenetrable Wall. Or the jade magistrates, hunting rogue blood-mages across the empire to put a stop to the chaos they bring. Or the Emerald magistrates, who might end up tangled with a conspiracy as old as the empire itself.

How did you manage to kill your group?

Hackmaster or 2E

did he really cheat on the game? wew classic That Guy

Its time to step up, and become a man.

TOR
Zweihander
Hackmaster
DnD 2e

>Women in your group

Fucking why

>a game with literally zero good points
But why?

...

Shadow of the demon lord. Feels like a better 5e, and its as edgy and grimdark as you want it to be, with a good dm able to scale it down.

This.

Gonna second this, especially Hackmaster 4E. It's rules heavy, but light-hearted and I love it.

>My remaining players enjoy strategy in battles, light role play, a lighthearted plot.
So you're all idiots then.

Oh no someone is having badwrongfun

Well if you don't want to go back to 5E I'd say you could honestly try 4E.

Thing with 4E is that it made the system quite "game-y", as in it felt much more like a video game to me.

You could also try just fucking around with WoD/CoD. It's a much more RP-reliant system since it's "rules" are much more like guidelines. You can make just about any game you could ever imagine with it though, it's that broad.

Games I've run/played in in my time with WoD with friends
>future sci-fi casino heist playing as a sentient, genetically enhanced bear
>classic Hunter game where I played a southern redneck that wanted to wrassle all the monsters. And yes I mean literally suplexing creatures.
>Innocents game I ran set in the 70s in upstate New York during the last weeks of summer vacation where a bunch of kids banded together and became friends as they tried to help a huge spooky-but-friendly alien escape government hands
>Slice of life game where I played a sad dad trying to reconnect with his estranged son on a snow trip
>Crime game where I played as one half of a tweed British duo of syndicate leaders who were husband and wife
>Another Hunter game set in England where I played a fat British toff with a double barrel shotgun
>Ridiculous space opera where I played as the fawnceh brother of a groteque parody of Flash Gordon
>An episodic series that came from another game as a throwaway joke, set in India as the low-rent Indian employees of a huge multi-level Indiana Jones-style vault facility that housed multiple crazy captured monsters and artifacts
There was plenty more, but these are the ones that stick out in my mind the most. It's a super flexible system if you want a change of pace and to just have a lot of RP fun.

Failing all this, maybe just try a new setting in 5E or something. A change of scenery can do a whole lot of good.

>My d&d group finally collapsed in on itself like a dying star.
That's a very specific turn of phrase, OP. Are you an astrophysicist in real life or something? Or were you playing a sci-fi RPG?
