What do you think of Minotaurs?

what do you think of Minotaurs?

I don't generally. They're old hat.

they cool

Underused.

So how many more threads like this are you posting today? 3? 5?

I prefer them as one-off monsters rather than a whole race.

Big fan. One of my favorite monster races to make use of, I just like the aesthetic and the gameplay of a maze- and axe-wielding giant bull monster. Also, goring people with horns then flicking the head to fling them around usually gets PCs good and scared which is ALWAYS a plus.

They are ok. Often get goofy designs though.

The fucking tongues.

>post furry
>call it minotaur
Minotaurs don't have hooves or furred bodies.

Human body with animal head looks fucking stupid. Beastial minotaurs are fine, these are furry minotaurs

I'll have to burn my PC now brb

Minotaur smirks

But seriously they're pretty fun. I recently ran a dungeon called "The Hall of the Minotaurs" which at first blush is a straight hallway with a couple Minotaurs at the end. It of course does a bunch of dumb fucking things with space and time.

>M1: It's a misnomer. There's more than one hall
>M2: and definitely only one Minotaur.

I like a good minotaur. I do monstrous minotaurs in my usual setting, but if you go far enough by sea you'll find Krynn-style minotaurs.

I love minotaurs and one of my favourite characters I've ever played was a minotaur luchador

They are kind of jackasses

They are cool when they are not a "race"

I really like them. I loved 4e's fluff for them as a PC race, which gave them a real neat "beast vs. man" internal theme and actually gave them a really solid thematic foil to the gnoll PC race writeup.

As a race, their only role is basically just orc stereotypes up to 11 and furry. As one-offs, they can be fun and imposing, but it's best to show them in a way that doesn't let the players think too much of why it's there, lest they remember the actual story of the Minotaur.

They're good when comboed with a didgeridoo

>what do you think of Minotaurs?

I like them a lot, but I think people have a poor tendency to cast them as the roll of "yet another giant, dumb, brute" when they make for far more interesting cunning, brutal, deceptively stealthy, hunters and cannibals.
A proper Minotaur should have more in common with a slasher film killer than anything else.

They are a-maze-ing

Metal as fuck.

They're amazing

>this
a minotaur is great for low level players in a dungeon. Just powerful enough that, if they separate, they are dead and if they stay close, its still a strong, eventful challenge that doesn't completely fuck the party over. The tank might take some heavy wounds, but they would survive. but making heavy use of dark vision and low lighting is always the best setting. let him hide in the shadows and come out swinging.

I like that representation. SMT comes up with some really neat designs sometimes.

They're easily targeted by spells too.

Didn't Veeky Forums come up with a setting where Minotaurs were Korean? Based more or less entirely on the similarity between fermented silage and kimchi?

>Didn't Veeky Forums come up with a setting where Minotaurs were Korean? Based more or less entirely on the similarity between fermented silage and kimchi?

I 100% know exactly what you're referring to and I think it was one user just getting help from Veeky Forums.

He was doing Chinese/Korean Minotaurs because of obsession with north, south, and kimchi was just a by product of discussion. That's how I remember at least.

I would love some more detail on this. I like the idea of Minotaurs representing Greco-Roman Culture, but this is better.

I played a Minotaur Barbarian last game. I had a good deal of fun with it.
Be ready for cow jokes, though.

Someone told me Minotaurs are to women as Elf-slaves are to guys

I like them as well, but I already have too many different animal people races I want to include.

You could just make them monsters instead of a race, which works too, but seems kind of a cop out for players who like minotaurs.

I love em as bestial monstrosities that roam mazes, horrifically mauling and eating those who enter.

This is doing it right.

Are they gonna fuck that cow?

Basically, except women end up getting mindbroken by the minotaur slave because you can't beat the cock.

Variant flavors of Minotaurs are severally underrated.

>Bull with tits

Udderly insane

They're alright even though they can get a little bullish at times.

get out.

good one tho

Fuck you! Moo-masa wast furry!

I have a question.

If there's a bull headed or otherwise bullish humanoid based off a bull human from another culture and that has a different name in that culture, would we still call them minotaurs of a different kind?

Like how we call Jiangshis vampires.

I usually use name of animal used - so instead of gnoll hyena folk, minotaurs become things based on the bovine in use and so on.

What if it's still a bull?

Like a race based off an Indian bull headed God instead of Minos being cuckolded. Would we still call them Indian minotaurs?

Depends on how cool sounding the native word for them is.

Just make up new name - bullpeople, cow people so on.

Nandi.

Sounds a bit lame.

with warmonger "makes minotaur spells cast one less black and one less red mana cost to cast" you can already get most Minotaurs for less than 3 mana,

>female minotuar

Don't see enough of them, imo.

...

You gotta search on the right places, user.

We would because it is easier, but in your setting they can have their own name.

Well, that level of adorable may have killed me.

I had a notion of running a homebrew wherein minotaurs are essentially a subgroup of giant ungulate-humanoids, others include

>Cannibalistic moose-men
>Not-American-Indian bisonfolk
>Cheeky goatguys
>Not-elf deerpeople
>Hyper-aggro hippopotapeople

I feel bad for the guy. Put so much effort into his girls only to have censorship law change on him.

I'm not a... connoisseur of such pictures, but I'm curious as to what changed?

Why the fuck does that pic so ominous?

He basically reignited monster girl popularity. The manga (and anime) itself is that kind of sort where it gets so close to outright porn but is not. He is still continuing with it and its enjoyable. Legally its something about wanting to tone such themes down for a few years for the Olympics I think.

The primary citizens of my setting's not!spain and not!india. One of our regulars has always been a fan, so I made them a mainstay. We've had everything from Minotaur heroes, Minotaur villains, and bog standard Minotaur npcs.

It's effective to me because he may be an idiot and couldn't function at all in your environment, but he's a genius at everything relevant to where you are now. More of a Leatherface, a Buffalo Bill with the nightvision goggles.

I'm actually thinking of borrowing from MtG for my setting and letting minotaurs come in different visages, but the same statblocks, for different strains - I don't know, I just think the antelope-minotaurs would be a good fit for my not!Africa region where the gnolls rule, and the sheep-minotaurs of Amonkhet just stuck with me.

Don't forget the shaggy ginger minotaurs of the highlands.

>Minotaurs
there's literally only one

They literary don't exist.

Ruined by a furry.

I like the way MtG has different types of minotaurs that take on characteristics of the region they represent like the gazelle looking minos from Amonket.

This has gone a ways towards how I feel about most beasts races and how we should just have a few and give them features appropriate to the region/cultures they represent then reinventing the wheel that makes another wolf like race or some stupid shit.

What would happen if a Minotaur bred and elf?

Good meatshields

Some kind of satyr with more cow-like features, I imagine.

>female minotaur

I had no idea this was a thing.

POST MINOTAUR WOMEN
BIG
BEEFY
WOMEN

This. My home game setting has six breeds/tribes of lizardfolk for the same reason. I've never thought too much about minotaurs, but I will now.

Yes it was. If looney toons was furry then so was moo mesa.
You dont have to jack off to it, but dont fucking lie to yourself.

What are you two talking about, exactly?

Good times. It was amazing to Bufu his asshole into an early grave.

>human body with cow head
Patrician

>hooves with furry body and cow head
Trash

Give us some of them

Why are the Moose Cannibals?

Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa
Oh, it was very, very furry. It probably was responsible for quite a few people getting corrupted by the furry.

But it had some interesting ideas, they even came up with a crazy explanation for the origin of these minotaur-like characters in universe.
A meteor released some kind of radiation that turned a bunch of animals, but not all of them, into inteligent humanoid creatures.
That's why you have these minotaur dudes riding normal horses and raising normal cows, the normal animals still exist alongside these mutated ones.

Nigga WoW has been a thing for like 15 years now

Trivia: the original minotaur also had a bull's tail.

What other bovines could one use for minotaur variants?

They make the best priests/paladins

I like them. Imagine this huge motherfucker sending armored warriors flyin' in all directions. Makes my war peepee hard.

Oi. Yea. Monstrosities like Manticores.

Rename them Nandaur or somethin

I prefer them as monsters than a race. I like tauren that's it.

I don't know about how they should work as a race, but I love how Total War: Warhammer does them visually.

What happens when he goes into a rut?

You probably shouldn't be around when that happens.

Off the top of my head:

Classic Minotaur - Cows
African Minotaur - Antelope
Indian Minotaur - Yak
European Minotaur - Aurochs
Meso-American Minotaur - Bison

Those countries are ideas for civilisation inspiration, not references to anything else.

nice. i gotta play that game.

Buy the first one and all the DLC when it's on sale. Wait for all the DLC to come out before getting the second one. You need both games to play the Mega Combined campaign anyway.

...

Does he have a bear trap on his peg leg? That's pretty cool, but it seems like it'd get stuck on things fairly often.

Looks like it to me. It sounds cool on paper, but yeah having a bear trap for a shoe would be a nightmare. Especially on a rocking boat.

Anyone have more minotaur art? Specifically I'm looking for minotaurs that are wizards or magic users of some kind.

...

Thanks, mate. I totally forgot Homm had minotaur warlocks.

I personally find them a bit Bull-Headed.

That dude looks like a wolf with horns. Seems like something a furry would draw.
>Hey! Check out my totally original doughnut steel wolf/cow OC!
