Man the death of Selknam people was genuinely one of the more fucked up things I learned about. The bounties for a dead Selknam woman apparently weren't officially rescinded until 1940 when they were all pretty much dead simply because of a suspicion there might be a few left around.

Yeah dude. It's a real shame because they had such a unique culture, but we barely got to know anything about them before they were wiped out. Chile in general is absolute shit when it comes to the treatment of its natives. The Mapuche people especially still suffer discrimination and racism almost on the level of early 20th century America. It's awful, and I wish more people would talk about it.
