I thought he died in a car accident.

He's been struggling with depression ever since the reddit army made him their next target. Really sad to see this happen.

Yes, but that doesn't mean he killed himself.

So.
Reddit 1
Veeky Forums 0?

I do not know who this person is or why I should care. What happened?

Magic player who a lot of people thought did some pretty scummy in-game behavior.

He top 8'd and won a bunch of magic & yugioh tournaments. Incredible what a hate mob can do.

Reddit is cancer, more news at 8

And
Seem completely at odds with each other. What scummy behavior? What hate mob? I've heard literally nothing about this person in my entire time playing magic.

>Seem completely at odds with each other.
They aren't. He won a lot and also people thought he did scummy in-game behavior (e.g. angle shooting) in order to win. As a result he generated some hate that the internet wasn't shy about throwing his way.

Two examples from this month:

reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/7otixg/korey_mcduffie_angle_shooting/

reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/7ru8td/so_are_we_going_to_talk_about_how_korey_mcduffie/

This escalated into people harassing him on social media and even at events. Then we reach this:

reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/7usc4y/korey_mcduffie_scg_personality_passes_away/

why do we care about some fag like OP dying?

Ok but none of this says he killed himself

Which doesn't say he committed suicide, unless I really missed something.

It's the weekend's biggest story in traditional gaming

mods mass deleted

That's conspiracy theory logic.

The weekend staryed 3 hours ago my dude, and we still don't have any confirmation it was a suicide or that, if it was, it was prompted by community harassment. Little quick to be claiming that this is the biggest story that'll come out in the next 48 hours.

lol i literally saw it happen

probably because it was pointless speculation

>mods on tg
>capable of mass-deleting a topic or even paying attention to anything going on here.

Uh huh, sure user.

I'm not seeing that, either.
Then again, I've only seen two mentions of car accident and those came from people who didn't seem too sure themselves, so I guess we'll find out in the next day or two.

mods on le reddit not tg

Why should I believe you? Also, even if they did remove comments saying that it was suicide, that doesn't mean it actually was. It could just as easily have just been trolls.

guy on the right looks like a young kyle MacLachlan

Supposedly the car accident info was from the memorial twitch stream chat which would probably know better than random plebbitors but still nothing is confirmed until a statement is made by somebody in the know.

>modern /tpol/
>not discussing some kind of e-drama vaguely related to the board topic with hourly threads
your narrative has a few holes in it
we'd have heard about it way before these supposed "mass deletes"

reddit mods not mods here

i think you misunderstood my post

To be fair to him I checked out the reddit thread and there are a good amount of deleted posts but most of the responses to them are along the lines of "That's a horrible thing to say right after somebody dies." So I imagine they were more towards "lol he necked himself" than "I was told he committed suicide by a family member."

Veeky Forums has at least one school shooter so I would say no.

user is saying that "reddit mods" couldn't keep a lid on the story to the point where someone on Veeky Forums wouldn't be able to post about it.

le redditor pls leave

lol

The irony I think is that Reddit has a higher kill count than Veeky Forums who has also done a lot more good in the past.

Are you fucking new?
That's not a Veeky Forums story.
That's a current event story.
That story has nothing to fucking do with the release of a book. Or ANYTHING happening in a game. Or really, anything that a Veeky Forums player would give a shit about in the slightest.

WotC shills incoming

I'm from the Atlanta area, I've played with him a lot. He was a local.

He seemed like an alright dude, but I only know him from playing magic.

He was like my age too, it's so strange to hear about him dying. Really is unfortunate despite what the predictable le epic callous trolls will say and have said.

I used to play before there were tournaments. What is 'angle shooting'?

God riddance. One less pedophile on earth.

I hope his soul rests in peace knowing he doesn’t need to play this shitty game for autists anymore.

It's where you try to take advantage of rules ambiguity in order to win. It's basically one step shy of actual cheating.

CAN'T HANDLE THE BANTER

02/02?

He was sacrificed, man.

>If Korey would want one thing, it'd be for us to remember that depression can affect us all. The Magic community is strong, and undoubtedly his many friends helped him through darker times than I can imagine. I know he always brightened my day.

This seems to feed the suicide idea.

magic.wizards.com/en/events/coverage/ptrix/korey-mcduffie-2018-02-03

Now watch as reddit tries to wipe their hands clean and pretend like the nice people at /r/magictcg didn't drive him to suicide from the constant harassment over social media

And look, check out his deck so you can purchase it and recreate it on MTGO and from all major card-stores!

Korey had depression. That's well known and not in question.

fucking idiots

You can just say logic.

Unless you're paid to use that thought-terminating phrase to delegitimize enemies of your international mafia. Was he really killed as a human sacrifice?

shit.
SHIT.
HE'S RIGHT

>mafia
It was the wizards, dumbass.

Mossad and Skull & Bones magic users don't really deserve that title. They're lost sorcerers that steal power from children.

no, no, it was closer to eldritche magykk for plebbes territory than edgy darkrunes for evil sorcerors.

You can tell because it was a numerically important day, but not in a way that was all hot topic.

And you can rule out the hippy dippy magic for wiccans, because it wasn't an equinox or some shit.

Same group that attempted Vegas and sent the recent train/garbage truck warning?

I thought we figured out that vegas was a shadowrun op.

Basically is. My limited real world understanding is that it was intended as a mass harvest of human life, with harvest and reaping symbolism encoded into the chosen location, and that it was intended to serve as both cover and a good luck charm towards the assassination of a Saudi royal staying in the hotel, but we killed their god and their shit sucks so the event didn't go as planned for them and some serious black ops badasses stopped them in the act, preventing thousands of ritualized deaths.

Getting real tired of these sorcerers.

But where does the casino heist fit in?

Would that be something like playing a card to search your deck and muttering 'darn' and not grabbing anything to bait out an action that you were ready to capitalize on?

Fuck off Mossad. I killed your god.

Owned

>no casino heist
lame.

>we did it, reddit!

No, that's just bluffing. Angle shooting would be like moving to scoop up your cards when you're dead on board, waiting for your opponent to scoop and shuffle, then putting your cards back on the table, saying that you were just rearranging them and that your opponent has conceded by scooping.

F

>Millenials killing themselves because people on the internet say mean things to them
>Nobody ever does pic related

The hell is Angle Shooting?

Shit thread. Go over to 8ch they'll like it more

That's not how the world works anymore, user. Your phone is always on and always online. If you don't respond, people get pissy RL. Your friends, coworkers and family. Hell, my parents in their 50s consider me a weirdo for turned of mobile internet when I don't use it and for not having every stupid messenger and social network app.

We anons are mostly antisocial assholes, but for people working in the public this stuff can be a significant portion of their lives.
