The game that proves Paizo is literally retarded and incapable of learning anything from their past mistakes

>the game that proves Paizo is literally retarded and incapable of learning anything from their past mistakes

starfinder is fun you retard

False. Paizo is retarded but they made an entirely different set of mistakes this time.

how much is soros paying you to post this? paizo is great. pathfinder is probably the best system ever made.

*starfinger

>Soros
>Not Having Paizo in his pocket
Paizo is one of the most liberal companies in the business. Wrath of the Righteous turned me off on their products for good with its awful NPCs. And even shitposting to claim that Pathfinder is anywhere near the best system is offensive to my senses.

This isn't a good spelljammer
This isn't a good SWN
This isn't a good Traveler

I'd rather play Star Frontiers.

>paizo is great. pathfinder is probably the best system ever made.

I stopped paying attention to Paizo a while ago. Just how much of a clusterfuck are we looking at here?

Dragonstar was better.

Imagine the most bland space fantasish setting combined with usual clusterfuck of PF rules and kindergarten level math mistakes in Spaceships chapter.

Try arguing with facts, shill

At this point they keep going on on sheer sunken cost alone.

No it isn't.

This is based on me running the game for about six sessions.

>Spaceship customization and combat is a slog and the ship roles are poorly balanced fun wise with many roles being just number tweaking.
>The new DC system is fucked and makes the players feel worse when they level up.
>The gear treadmill is worse than Pathfinder and there are a fuckload of specific name and level combos for what are close to functionally identical weapons.
>Alien Archive is one of the worst monster books I've seen in a long time. It's filled with bland, tentacle faced monsters and lazy fantasy reskins.

its probably because there is a decent bit of fanbase who enjoy pathfinder so they are making something for their fans instead of pandering to the "wider market" who's just going to go back to 5e anyways.

I want to know right now how much Soros is paying you to post this

>Paizofag calls me a shill for not believing Pathfinder is the best system ever made.
The irony.

>how much is soros paying you to post this?

Please explain to me why George Soros would take a few minutes out of his busy schedule of destabilizing Western civilization to fund some rando internet fuckboy attacking Paizo

What facts?

>Unironically posting /pol/ shit thinking it's an argument.

Name one thing wrong with it, I'll wait

>pretending to be a /pol/ troll for (you)s

Don't you have anything better to do with your life user? I'd suggest Gunpla or watching Yor: Hunter From the Future (it got a bluray recently) if you want to have some fun on a lonely Sunday.

Name one thing it does better than 3.5.

I'm having fun in my Starfinder game. It's generic sci-fi, which is what I wanted. I really don't care much what system I play so long as it is functional, and Starfinder does work. I dislike the direct fantasy ports, but it is only ever an issue when the GM does Scottish voices for (space)dwarves, which is a pet peeve of mine. I'm very open to any kind of sci-fi game, but right now where I am It's either Starfinder or Star Wars, and I'm kind of tired of Star Wars, even though I like the FFG system.

/Pol/ probably has the largest collection of intellectuals, free thinkers and geniuses anywhere on the internet. Only libtards like you who get offended Everytime someone uses free speech hate it

...

I got my Yous, but I didn't get my facts.

>Soros
>Against Paizo

Everything. Done.

Personally I kind of like the races presented to us.

Dude, I saw that episode of Rick and Morty too!

This is fake news

I don't see any problem. Crafting should take a long time.

the races and base ideas in them could be ok. But the authors kind of shied away from any conflict wherever possible. I just read their descriptions and never got above "meh" feeling. Nothing good, nothing even to outright despise, just mediocrity.

Those times are more appropriate for building a house than a weapon or armor.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Look, user who's being a shill. We get it, you like your system and wish that more people would play it instead of 5e. I'm in the same boat with Genesys.
However, Starfinder is by no means good. At all. I can tell you this because every Pathfinder GM I've ever encountered has one of the two following mentalities:
>"I wish I could GM something else, but this is all my players know, and all they're willing to play."
>"This is all I know how to GM, and I've put too much effort into learning this system to switch over now, even if it is a flawed game."
I'm of the opinion that good Pathfinder GM's are some of the best out there, simply for the fact that they fight with the system in addition to everything else a GM has to deal with. However, I feel that Pathfinder groups have fun despite the system, not because of it.

I remember someone from a discord that thought it would take a week for a master blacksmith to make a sword.

Any sword. Just a pointed piece of metal with a handle and an edge. He flipped out when I showed a video of a guy making a sword in under an hour on youtube.

>Even if you dedicate your entire work week into making a suit of armor, it still takes 1 year to make one suit of armor. Even though it would actually take one month under the same conditions at most.
Really? You think that's a reasonable assumption?

Pathfinder is the best system. It has no flaws.

I'm a cucumber, user!

>Pazio is retarded
Ah ha! Captain obvious strikes again with his quick wit and unrivaled eloquence!

...

>t. Pathfinder Player.
Try asking your GM if Pathfinder has any flaws. He'll laugh and then give you his list. And don't try and bullshit me saying you're the GM.

Pathfinder GMs are basically hostages to their games? Sounds right.

Works both ways. Why is it the best system ever?

This
Every time I start a Pathfinder game I have to spend a week working through 3rd party material and explaining homebrew rules
>there aren't 3 billion gods in the setting so your cleric can choose the one he fits and take any two domains that aren't retarded
>btw I'm using automatic bonus progression so equipment progression is linear and you don't have to spend literal mountains of gold on a +5 Shocking Holy Keen Longsword
>oh and crafting is more abstracted because fuck counting pennies every time you want to make a weapon
>and food is going to be ignored because anyone with ranks in survival can feed a fucking army by himself
>plus there's no need to track XP we're doing level by plot progression, again fuck counting pennies
>oh and I'm going to enforce 3rd party/homebrew rules for [lesser used mechanic that will be important in the campaign] because Pazio's system for it is pants-on-head retarded
>I'm not going to spend 20m with a notepad calculating the DC to do [complex thing]
And that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Why are you playing Pathfinder then?

Back to /pol/ you fuckwit

Because I can.

Seriously. Having a binder of houserules thicker than the core rulebook is what broke me. I just plain don't play it anymore, and I use Pathfinder as an example of how not to design a game.

I see a whole lot of what's wrong with Pathfinder in this thread but little about what's wrong with Starfinder.
What's wrong with Starfinder?

>he thinks games are supposed to be fun
Get thee gone, plebeian.

Dude you can have a house built in a weekend if it is planned right. And yes that includes modern amenities like running water and electricity.

B-but muh medieval times

Pathfinder is a bloated mess and the community is even worse. The amount of material alone is daunting, and people expect to be able to use it. Go to /pgg/ and pitch a game that isn't a high-powered kludge of third party material with an anime trope or erp as the campaign concept. It'll be hated or mocked. Then again, starting games here isn't the best of ideas to begin with.

Do you really think it took a year for people to build their houses back in medieval times? Amish fucks do barn raisings where they build a barn in a day, medieval houses aren't much different.

Don't get me wrong, I have fun with paizo's systems when I am invited to play, but I Never GM those systems. They are not good.

B-but in the middle ages everything was worse... It's not realistic...

you should work on your irony, user

Why do people insist they're good systems?

>/pol/
>defending paizo
user

Unparalleled customization, choice and support.

Kek

Go on.

Not in any way that depends on either its mechanics or setting.

It's just Pathfinder 1.5 in space.
They repeated almost all the mistakes of Pathfinder and added a whole lot of new ones, like an even worse gear threadmill, the DCs for starships (yeah yeah I know it's been errata'd but that doesn't excuse the level of incompetence needed to repeat the exact same mistake WoTC did with the Truenamer a decade ago), or making the only soft sci-fi setting in existence without universal translators and night vision goggles (because this is DnD and god forbid we have a setting where racial languages and darkvision aren't enforced)

I don't entirely agree. Specific mistakes may differ, but Starfinder's main problem is literally trying to be DnD - except with much LOWER level of power and awesomeness - in space.

But I don't want my character to be useless or have to shovel shit to find the nuggets of gold.

If you think that customization and choice of Pathfinder are unparalleled, you must not have played many other games.
As for support, well, you are throwing money at a cult, hope that goes well. How is the Pathfinder MMO coming along?

Name one that isn't GURPs.

shadowrun

>liberal means far left wing
The modern right is so dumb

Its double pathfinder. You have two classes, two ACs, equipment for your equipment, I wish I were joking.

So just like every single other sci-fi game?

Sorry bud the skill system alone makes it a bad system. Out of the box it is nonfunctional is most cases of doing anything beyond you everyday skill checks like perception. Also nothing differentiates two characters with the same exact skill set even though the characters may be from entirely different walks of life.

I ran pathfinder for years and I can honestly say it's a good GAME up till about level six but a terrible rpg if you're actually trying to play it as they have written the rules.

>/pol/
>must be right winged
user.

Heroquest, it let's you literally make your own magical items, abilities, attributes and characteristics.

By adding restrains you don't offer more customization, you limit it.

user, there are many, many systems out there you could say are better than Pathfinder, and while Shadowrun is one of them... It's not by much, especially if we're talking mechanically.
The BRP Family is really the one with unparalleled support comparable to GURPS, especially if you're using Mythras.

CofD, BRP, hero system, Savage worlds, M&M. Just to throw a few out there. But keep sucking paizo's cock, dear

>Unparalleled customization and choice

Yes, thousands and thousands of options, 99% of which are along the lines of "+2 to Craft (Macrame) checks while underwater" or "+1/2 bonus on Strength checks to break objects and on sunder combat maneuver checks when under the effects of a mutagen that increases the alchemist’s Strength or Constitution score", trivial and fiddly nonsense that does nothing but bloat pagecount and cause option paralysis in anyone who isn't totally onboard with the "gotta compound all your dimes until they make a whole dollar".

When did “support” get defined as churning out an endless well of first draft garbage?

Literally everything wrong with Starfinder is because it had to maintain comparability with Pathfinder.

>get Starfinder liking the idea
>about to read it
>see Veeky Forums saying it's shit

Is it really that bad

Listen here retard. 80% of Magic Items, Armor/Weapons, Feats, Archetypes, and Class Options are fucking useless and so hyperspecialized that you'll never use them unless you are playing an encounter deliberately built to make them useful. Why would you even take them over generalized options that you will get MUCH more mileage out of? Your options are as fake as a pornstar's orgasms.

It’s better than Pathfinder at the same distance from release.

You've got the book, see for yourself.
Spoiler warning: you'll be disappointed even if you go in expecting nothing

Don't get opinions from Veeky Forums.
Then again, you bought a Paizo game, what did you expect?

Your in a thread where people just used the criticism of excess modifiers and then went on to recommend BRP, do you really think their opinion is valid at this point no matter if they're right or wrong?

Excessive modifiers with BRP?

You are a retard. Why don't you just go play some stupid game where every class is the same

The only two posts that recommended BRP were in response to "name an rpg with the same amount of options as Pathfinder", which is the opposite of criticising the excess of options.
Reading comprehension user, it might save your life one day.

It feels like homeone's slapped together homebrew Pathfinder with some neat ideas (Solarian as a class, reworked HP system) and then added a bunch of poorly thought out ideas to it.

Hey he just asked for one and that's first one that came to mind hell I don't even play or like shadowrun anymore.

But user, 4E was a poorly executed attempt at something new. It's better than Pathfinder by the mere fact that it tried something original instead of holding on to the sacred cows of the past decade of gaming like some primitive tribal culture that eats every third baby because the spirits say so.

Oh, and let's not forget, it's easier to DM.

>The BRP Family is really the one with unparalleled support comparable to GURPS, especially if you're using Mythras.
It however suffers from the same problems as GURPS, its fragmented as fuck and basically requires you to build your own game.

But I'm not wrong, am I? Most of the shit I mentioned is bloated with useless shit with other options available that are just plain better.

See . Is it really that different?

>Mythras
>fragmented as fuck
That’s just an absurdity
