No silicon computers at all? I thought they did have some, just it was intentionally crippletech to avoid any possibility of AI even unintentionally?

The silicon plague killed semiconductors of that type. Allegedly they got around it with other computers, and since it's crippletech it doesn't have to be as efficient. Not to mention there are literally two planets with tech as an export.

Of course, I'm ignoring the Brian Herbert ones because he handed over the notes and slapped his name on those books, they're not canon.

Rather, got around it with other types of semiconductors, not other types of computers. Mentats are still what you're using for brainpower. I doubt, however, that personal computers are a thing for anyone who isn't in a major position of power.

What are some Worm fanfictions that would make good jumps?

Well, there's–
>that would make good jumps?
…nevermind.

Best would probably be something like a PRT Quest Gauntlet but it would a lot of work to make it good.

That's not fanfic, that's canon.

Stepping on Worm.

Fuck you.

>fanfictions

>more SB degeneracy

Did you post an Equilibrium pic on purpose, or was it happy coincidence?

Wouldn't you still have to decrypt it?

If they are encrypted then Unknown Resources would also let you know the password. (Unless it isn't stored electronically and the commander enters it every time anything gets built which would be ridiculous)

The UEF are fighting a culture of posthuman cyborgs and AI. Leaving as much as possible off the networks is only sensible. Of course, they're also fighting a culture of telepaths, so even that might not be enough. Hmm...physical passwords, then? Like it's an old record disc that needs to be scanned and the pattern converted to the numerical string?

Does it even matter? I'm pretty sure Unknown Resources works on anything that was written down, not just anything that was stored electronically.

Unknown resources doesn't require networks

'If the information is recorded anywhere, electronic or otherwise you are almost effortless dig up the required data with nothing but a computer'

Um, user, proper security involves storing the passwords only in an encrypted form. And given the computing power available in SupCom, a Commander's password ain't going to fit on a sticky note.

Oh it's far more bullshit than that. It's "recorded anywhere, electronically or otherwise".

"Well technically the king's DNA is recorded in his cells, so..."

True, it could probably give you the pattern to carve into your disc.

No, I'm saying that they wouldn't have the passwords written down anywhere a networked Cybran AI could get at it, not that Unknown Resources couldn't get at it. It's bad security to have a password stored electronically here in the real world, when you're dealing with automated planetary armies it's just insane.

Generally speaking, I'd rule out anything that's 'Alt-Power' or a crossover by default. Especially if there's a Jump already for the crossover element. Worm fanfiction in general tends not to actually mess with the setting that much, with changes from cannon either being a result of fannon or changes after the start of the story.

If you're really going to insist on it though, look for one of the crazier AUs, likes ones that put elements of Worm into original settings, or have the Entities arrive at earlier or future time periods. Those might have enough original content to actually merit a Jump that isn't just a grab for crazy powers from crossover elements.

You'd have to be careful with any powers offered though, so as to avoid just copying what's already in the Worm Jump.

But preferably, just don't do it.

>Um, user, proper security involves storing the passwords only in an encrypted form. And given the computing power available in SupCom, a Commander's password ain't going to fit on a sticky note.

There has to be a plain text password stored somewhere otherwise they wouldn't be able to decrypt their own stuff.

Yes. In their brains.

Not necessarily. It's entirely possible to design security systems where the "passwords" never exist in plaintext. And given the security environment that is the SupCom universe, where you've got telepaths and quantum AI and Cybran infiltration specialists, I'd sure as shit be using something along those lines.

So every time a commander wants to make something they tell the computer a massively long string of codes. The computer decrypts the schematic, builds the device and deletes the decrypted schematic. The commander then repeats the process for every single unit he wants built. That is ridiculous and makes no sense.

Does falling damage protect from any fall, or does the ground have to meet certain conditions for it to work? What I'm getting at is, spikes are often treated as dangerous to fall on even in places where characters are immune to falling damage. So would a falling damage perk protect you from spikes? If not, would it protect you from sharp crags or ravines? Or other such landscapes that can be dangerous to someone just falling forward?

No, the Commander just tells their ACU to make it, and it does all the work. And none of the schematics would ever be in a fully decrypted state at any time, and each of the schematics would have multiple keys, so that even if the ACU got black swanned the enemy wouldn't be able to get a full working schematic.

That or something like that would be what I'd envisage, and if my 20th century armchair sysadmin ass can come up with it I'd bet the SupCom programmers could.

>Not necessarily. It's entirely possible to design security systems where the "passwords" never exist in plaintext. And given the security environment that is the SupCom universe, where you've got telepaths and quantum AI and Cybran infiltration specialists, I'd sure as shit be using something along those lines.

Show me those systems

You have systems like google where your password is hashed in the database but you still have to actually enter your plain text password to get at it.

You have systems like public key cryptography where the encryption and decryption keys are different but someone still has to have a decryption key to able to get at it.

If someone in SupCom has an encrypted file then they are going to need the appropriate decryption key to decrypt it. Either that key is stored somewhere and Unknown Resources can get at it or it doesn't exist and no one can decrypt the file without brute force computation.

No, just to start it up, not for every last action.

Then you steal the decrypted schematics of an ACU in use.

>Heart of Green Fire- 600
>Within your form there is a furnace, a limitless source of energy to power your form. From nuclear
energy or something stranger, it ensures that so long as you are acting with your body, your body
will always have the energy it needs. While you cannot draw more than you are able to usually store
at once, you will be able to draw again and again and again without limit from any store of energy
that your body can produce through its’ biological functions. Even forms of energy that are
supernatural in nature are affected, provided they work through biological functions as described above.

So does this mean I have infinite chakra/mana if I take this but my draw amount stays the same? Basically hooking me up to an ocean but I still can only drain it through the a waterhose?

Fall damage is the damage which you take when your momentum is arrested by the floor. So if you could be damaged by it if you only dropped a foot onto it, then the perk won't help.

Basically your max MP remains the same but using it immediately refills it. (Assuming you have a biological way of producing Mana like in Fate)

Speaking of Worm, is there anything like Shard Administration that can work on powers you bestow, rather than just those of yours that you decide to give out? Like preventing a Stand User from ever being able to achieve Requiem, regardless of any stabbing, or cockblocked someone from achieving Atziluth even if they somehow has the potential?

Reminder that if you've finished the source material, you're more qualified than 99% of the people here to make a jump for it. So what are you waiting for?

>So what are you waiting for?
Energy and free time to kill at the same time.

That Alchemical quest over SV.

The dude said Worm fanfiction, not Perfect Lionhearts original setting with characters who happen to have the same name and sometimes the same power as Worm ones.

Notice that I put "passwords" in quotes. For example, the "password" might be a combination of keys, one of which is a section of your genome, and the full set of keys are never stored in one place (at least until they are used).

Also note that I'm not saying that would stop Unknown Resources if you're willing to cheeselord its fiat sufficiently (e.g. "what does the 'almost' in 'almost effortlessly' actually mean?"). Fiat bullshit is bullshit, news at 11. All I said was that a security system doesn't have to rely on plaintext passwords that can be defeated by some moron writing theirs down on a sticky note.

... I mean, he did only read the synopsis/wiki/memes, so that's surprisingly accurate.

>All I said was that a security system doesn't have to rely on plaintext passwords that can be defeated by some moron writing theirs down on a sticky note.
I never said they would write stuff down on a sticky note.

That gif is weird. The penguin does an instantaneous 180.

Nah, you're just blind.

It's moreso that the penguin has his head down at first, and looks up at the same time that he pops out.

>Like preventing a Stand User from ever being able to achieve Requiem, regardlessof any stabbing
Just don't give out the arrowheads
>someone from achieving Atziluth even if they somehow has the potential
How would they even get the potential?
But to answer your question, if you are using Authority Equals Asskicking + A Shadow of My Power from Diabolical, the perk says that you can modulate what they get.
Honestly, the best way to do it is by using that item in Young Justice that lets you turn your powers into technology and a perk that stops your technology from being reverse engineered, then just remove the parts that you don't want.

What's this from and who's the cute with...I want to say orange-pinkish eyes?

I know you didn't. However when one says "plain text password" that (usually, informally) refers to an something that could be written on a sticky note.

Oh, I get it now. Ty.

reposting

>Oh it's far more bullshit than that. It's "recorded anywhere, electronically or otherwise".

Fun in any setting that allows* time travel (thus the past effectively exists as an accessible record) or has an equivalent of Akashic Records, too.

*or if combined with a fiat-backed time-travel perk.

... how would you protect yourself / your stuff / your friends from that perk?

Are there any perks that let you see a list of someone's crimes/sins?

>... how would you protect yourself / your stuff / your friends from that perk?
Kill anyone else with the perk

Get a patenting perk (They may be able to get your designs but they won't be able to use them)

Good morning, thread!
Tell me about settings that were more horrifying than your jumper expected?

> "Well technically the king's DNA is recorded in his cells, so..."
That's reaching a bit. The perk is based off of Wade, Kim's equivalent to Charlie Townsend. The "joke" of the perk, and from the show itself, is that Wade would dig up information about Kim's current objective on his computer, occasionally with commentary like "I don't know if I can find that / It might take awhile... got it!", and instantly provide it to her no matter how obscure. But he always provided news articles or scientific reports, never Drakken's DNA signature or Shego's bust size, for instance. I would think it would have to be something that was intentionally recorded for the purposes of recording it, not just "something that information can be gleaned from".

Otherwise, you could just as easily say, "Well, speech is a record of someone's thoughts, however brief, so I can listen in to every conversation taking place in the world."

"The chemical pathways in your brain are a record of your memories, so..."

> ... how would you protect yourself / your stuff / your friends from that perk?
You basically don't, in casual play, although presumably no one can take advantage of that perk except for you, unless you give the perk to someone else.

But in Castle of Puzzles, there's an item called the Oubliette, which allows you to place things inside of it and they'll be forgotten and erased from all memories and records, so if there's ever anything you REALLY don 't want people to know about, you can put it in there.

>But in Castle of Puzzles, there's an item called the Oubliette, which allows you to place things inside of it and they'll be forgotten and erased from all memories and records, so if there's ever anything you REALLY don 't want people to know about, you can put it in there.

To add to that, antimemetics in general should be pretty effective for this. They look up whatever it is you're trying to hide, scroll right past it without noticing, then get frustrated that it apparently wasn't there.

Super Intelligence + Mad Science = A very fun ten years

They probably don't actually need encryption and just use the same quantum bullshit they use to send energy from unit to unit and it can't be intercepted.

>and it can't be intercepted.
*which can't be intercepted

>or Shego's bust size
He never showed KIM Shego's bust size. Considering he's a young teenage genius living with his mom, I bet he knows the bust size of Kim, Shego, and the entire cheer leading team of Middleton. Not because he looked it up, but because he was that dedicated and had computer math on his side.
Like how the internet "found" the bust size of Teen Titans Raven or Avatar Korra.
Not weighing in on the perk itself, just saying.

In the case of time travel, well, not everything gets recorded or stays recorded. So depending on how the searcher can sample time, they might fail to find the record by trying to search at the wrong point in time.

As for Akashic Records or something like the Loom of Fate, there are perks that mean you aren't bound by fate, like Fateless from Kingdoms of Alamur or maybe Record Breaker from DS2.

Also there's a manse in Infernals that exists outside of fate, so things that happen in there presumably wouldn't be recorded in the Akashic Record either.

I'm positive there was a perk that let you sense when someone knew one of your secrets, and that could let you hunt them down, but I can't find it, if it exists.

CreepyPasta

I Know (200 CP)- You instinctively know when someone else knows of your
existence, and can identify these people on sight. You can also fine tune this sense
so that only certain information about you triggers this.

Maxima or Jean Grey (I'm trying to keep things to only 8 companions this run-through and only have space for one hot redheaded psychic)?

>Jean Grey
Only if you hate yourself.

That's the one. You set this to "people who know my passwords" or something like that, and go scry 'n' die the fucker.

Definitely Maxima. She's merely a space tyrant, Jean Grey will act nice until she gets an idea in her head and follows it until she decides the universe needs to burn for some reason. Or that somebody needs to be gay.

>until she decides the universe needs to burn for some reason. Or that somebody needs to be gay.
You say that like they're mutually exclusive choices to Jean.

>Well technically the king's DNA is recorded in his cells, so...
>(thus the past effectively exists as an accessible record)

Blackshadow and RecordRecording go home.

Since it started as worm fanfiction I think it counts, tales of the Telsa-verse. Which is now a series of ebooks on Amazon. It stars a female version of Dr Doom called Dire.

Hot burning loins.

If only it were that sexy.

>in Castle of Puzzles, there's an item called the Oubliette, which allows you to place things inside of it and they'll be forgotten and erased from all memories and records

If the Akashic Records were placed in this Oubliette, would everything be forgotten or just that instance of the record of everything?

>Maxima
who is maxima?

Oubliette – 200cp, Minion
A metal grate trapdoor installed in the lowest part of your warehouse (or other property). A
sheer drop into a tall cylindrical room, this is where you throw things to be forgotten.
Anything (or anyone) who is put into this stonework chamber will slowly have all memories,
records, and traces forgotten by the rest of the world – over the course of a year or so,
people’s memories of the thing will fade into forgetfulness, digital records will become
corrupted or inaccessible, text becomes illegible, photographs of the thing will fade into an
unrecognisable blur. Only you, and anyone present when the thing is thrown into the
oubliette, will retain their memories of the thing to be forgotten.
Things removed from the chamber will have appropriate memories and records return at a
slightly faster rate than they were forgotten – photographs un-blur, records become readable
again etc.

People would forget that Akashic Records exist but it won't destroy reality or anything like that.

Maxima is known for searching for mates among Earth's superpowered male population, notably, but not exclusively, Superman.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxima_(comics)

The Oankali also have bioengineering sufficient to make plagues and just about any other hard-scifi bioweapon you could name, but they're much too gentle to bring that sort of heat to bear unless it's clear you intend to exterminate them to the last.

That's the main reason they're so strict with Ooloi constructs; putting biological manipulation into the hands of a human temper and identity is horrifying to them.

Welp, I know what I'm doing during my DC run.

You might some genetic engineering. She isn't interested if you aren't genetically compatible.

Just be sure to go post-crisis DC. nu52 is a lesbian who is trying to get away from her family who see her as a baby factory. Wow, muh inclusiveness!

>Receptive Doves intensify

Pandering in the other direction

Drop In Perks:

Variation (100 KP, free Drop In)- You’re good at mixing things up in a fight, something that’s important when developing a fighting style of your own. you’re much better at blending together different forms of martial arts and any powers you may possess.

Stage Hazard (100 KP, free Drop In)- You’re extremely skilled at using your surroundings in a fight, such as in the use of improvised weapons or using the environment to maneuver around, attack, or even outright kill opponents.

Brutality (200 KP, discount Drop In)- You are an extremely ferocious and opportunistic fighter, capable of brutal and imaginative acts of violence. Your blows seem to hit harder, and you can easily identify any opportunities to kill your opponents straightaway in a fight.

Trial by Kombat (200 KP, discount Drop In)- Why settle your problems with words, when you can settle them with fists? Matters of diplomacy, from military treaties to family drama to deciding who gets to pick the channel on the TV can be resolved by engaging in Kombat, with the winner of the fight being the winner of the argument. This doesn’t have to be lethal Kombat, and in fact sparing your opponent may be better than killing them in some cases. Kombat, once declared, can not be refused but your opponent must have the opportunity to defend themselves.

I mean, that doesn't sound any sillier than 'searching for mates among earth's super-powered male population''

Kombat Meter (400 CP, discount Drop In)- A mysterious power; you have an image of a meter, comprised of three bars, in your mind. By spending the meter, you can achieve various effects; spending one bar will enhance your attacks, making them faster, deal more damage, or increasing the range. Spending two bars will allow you to break free from an enemy’s attack or combo, knocking them off balance and nullifying any further damage caused by their blows. Having three bars will allow you to unleash a powerful attack of your choice, substituting any normal costs with the Kombat Meter- note that you should be sure that it actually hits your opponent, lest you waste your energy. You might cast a spell without using any of your magical energy, reload your weapon and unload it on your enemy, or simply use the Kombat Meter’s power to unleash a devastating beat down. Regardless of what method you use, unleashing this attack is sure to deal great damage.

X-Ray (400 CP, discount Drop In)- You’ve mastered the art of the kill, and with this comes a great deal of intuition when it comes to the anatomy of others. Humans, demons, robots, gods; you can identify their weak points, if any, to cripple and kill them with ease. When landing a particularly devastating blow in Kombat, you will even be able to see the damage you’re doing to their internals as if you had x-ray vision.

MORTAL KOMBAT! (600 CP, discount Drop In)- The Elder Gods have smiled upon you, wanderer, and have given you the authority to host your own Mortal Kombat tournaments. The Rules for the Mortal Kombat tournament can be found above, and the rules are much the same. The Tournament can be invoked once per Jump, unless it takes place over a long period of time, in which case it can be invoked once per generation. You will also gain the ability to merge other Realms together; a Realm being a dimension that holds only one planet, or one planet in a dimension. You may do this freely for dimensions that belong to you, but the dimensions of others can only be won through Mortal Kombat. Only one victory is needed for you to merge dimensions, but failure on your part to uphold the rules of Mortal Kombat will render the Tournament null.

Fatality (600 CP, discount Drop In)- A secret technique not known to many; Fatalities vary from person to person, but are invariably violent, brutal means of killing ones opponent. Rip out their spine, decapitate them, blow them up, incinerate them with hellfire, freeze them and shatter them into a million pieces- the gorier and bloodier, the better. Fatalities can only be performed on an opponent you have already bested, which will cause them to stand around in a daze, unable to defend themselves from your Fatality. A Fatality is fatal to anyone it is performed on, up to and including beings which are otherwise Immortal.

The thing is, if you pick up Kryptonian Physiology in Kingdom Come, I figure she'd pretty much start going after you in every following DCU jump the moment she found out you existed when Superman rejects her, given that the entire reason she was on Earth in the first place was her desire for Kryptonian genes, which were explicitly stated as compatible in just about every incarnation of the character. That's why I started this entire conversation.

I mean, if you waifu Supergirl and have some sort of harem perk and She's Not A Lesbian from Dodgeball, it just becomes a threesome. And she'd probably be interested in the whole "travel to other worlds" as outside her local multiverse would probably get her even further away.

Perhaps, but at least the original concept was at best a silly idea for a villain, at worst fetish bait for her creator.

This idea is just pandering to a social cause.

For you all.
youtube.com/watch?v=V7OGY1Jxp3o

I don't think 'Using women as breeders' is much of a social issue in most places and to be honest 'Social cause' sounds less silly than well 'blatant fetish bait'.

For you
youtube.com/watch?v=t9HUyHmLFzA

>Supergirl
>not Power Girl
plebian

Do we have anything like Mind Crush aside from the one in the Yugioh Jump? I like the idea of getting rid of their evil parts and giving them a chance to grow.

I wasn't referring to that part. its the fact that she is a space millennial with an "angsty" background and is social pandering.

If she was an aggressive bombadstic space lesbian who tried to steal mates like in post crisis shit would be great. But instead she is a kinda emo figure with a "tragic" backstory and a lesbian for diversity standards.

> 'Social cause' sounds less silly than well 'blatant fetish bait'.

Some of us like seeing something other than PBS on occasion user.

And if you go Drop-In, gets even crazier. You can be like if Batman– I mean Blackwolf was fused with Doctor Impossible.

>Like how the internet "found" the bust size of Teen Titans Raven
What is her bust size? For research purposes, of course.

Marvel. Just...just Marvel. I was going to make a joke about how The Moving FInger Writes from DC Occult is basically mandatory if you want to be a successful AND frequently active AND unburdened magic practitioner there these days, but it stops being funny when the GODDAMN SORCEROR SUPREME:

1. After multiple story arcs about magic always having a cost
2. Against the advice of his friends, one of whom is a ghost dog and the other his mystic veteran manservant
3. Without warning anyone, ANYONE right after Steve "Heil HYDRA" Rogers took over the world
3.

Decided to ressurect Vegas. As in, the entire city.

Cue Mephisto getting a foothold on Earth and damning everyone in sight given the slightest opportunity. Because as it happens, Vegas was so sinful that after it's destruction it became Marvel's most prominent Satan-figure's property.

(Posting link because image too big)

I said Supergirl because New52 maxima was explicityly stated to be attracted to her. Nothing says you can't have MORE hot Kryptonians too.

Fair enough.

Even if you were going to resurrect a city there should be a lot better ones than Vegas.
