They could have put one guy's hand around the other guy's far shoulder. That plus the flavor text probably would have gotten the point across well enough. Especially if they threw in the card depicting the monuments in the distance, but that was a pretty shitty common that doesn't really have anything to do with that deck's play theme.
Honestly though, it doesn't really bother me. I don't really feel threatened by the existence of gay men.
