The same way you defeat anything else with fire magic: You pump out enough fire that your target is destroyed before it has a chance to do much to you.
Fire magic is not subtle when it comes to a fight.

The trick to fire is that you just have to apply enough of it correctly, with the degree of 'correctness' being inversely proportional to the amount of it you have.
So basically just chuck him into a sun of your own making and call it a day. This isn't ArmageddonMUD or something; nobody cares that you replicated the dawn of the universe in someone's backyard to neck an uppity wizard.
