I'm helpless. I've tried talking to so called specialists in real life and at business forums, and I got nothing, so I figured, why not Veeky Forums? Maybe the anonymity help. Veeky Forums is not just /b/.
I'm a system analyst. I have a great (software) product. I've shown it to people who understands the thing and they all loved it. And I'm building good ("good", not great yet, but we'll get there) services for real business using this product myself. So, good times two.
But I can't deal with everything myself. I've been rowing alone for almost a decade already (not all that time on this project tho), and I'm getting nowhere. I REALLY want to put together a team that can help this thing take off at once. I want to build, create, give jobs to people. But I can't put the money together, I make a good money but it's just enough to live and pay the bills, and I can't find funding anywhere. And no team is gonna work for free. This is not a Hollywood movie where you can offer shares of a nonexistent company to people to work. They gotta eat. As do I.
So, what do I do? I've tried publishing and sending my business plan to venture capital funds and I got nothing. I have no family or friends with money to lend me. Banks won't either because I have always been an entrepreneur and therefore never had a salary and I have a low score. I'm desperate. But mainly because I'm tired and I NEED the proper resources to go on. I have already done more than most people do in their whole career. Way more.
Any advice? Thanks.

Hey user,
I'm in a similar situation myself, though only for about 6 months since I quit my job. I run a small marketing / web dev agency with a few other freelancers. Sounds like marketing could help you? Or freelance help to deal with the more menial tasks?
I'm curious about the product, and the other avenues you've inquired for more info. I'm trying to grow as much as possible in 2018 too
Nathan Murphy
You really think there's something usefull there? Or the only one becoming millionaire is the author? Never read these kind of books.

And another option would be to hire unpaid interns. Contact local colleges about putting up some signage.

You'll grow if you work hard. I started with web and business software development and I still do it. Good money, but too much trouble. Every client thinks they're your boss. They're not, keep that in mind. Be good at what you do, be responsive, be nice, and you'll grow.
I'm sick of that already. I don't want to work on other people's products, I want to have a product of my own. I really don't like having unknown people fooling around and what not. I used to work with freelancers. Now I need something more.
Keep it up user.
Xavier Martin
What exactly would the people working need to do?
Chase Ramirez
That's a really good advice. Srsly. But I'll try to hold on for a little bit.
Evan Jenkins
I don't really want to make anyone work for free. That's not right. Maybe that morality is what's keeps me away from the rich.
Dominic Collins
>I have no family or friends with money to lend me.
this is your issue. in most cases the "friends" are seed round investors. I've worked at a couple startups and this actually seems to be one of the easier parts.
whatever industry you're in, there are some successful people in it who want to reinvest their money. your job is to talk to those people and convince them, based on their knowledge of the industry that you're in, that your idea is a good one.
this is most easily accomplished by having an "unfair advantage" -- i.e. what will make you succeed when there are dozens of other people out there who will work just as hard and have the same product. the answer could be: sales, insider knowledge, etc. don't just say that you'll work really hard and are real good at it, because you will get denied.
I know it's cliche, but the first couple episodes of the startup podcast are good to listen to. I don't know where you are, but if it's not NY, SF, DC, or Boston, be prepared to travel for this. also, get an LLC together early to make it more legitimate.
good luck user!
Justin Myers
Do what I did. Sell everything you own and bury yourself in debt to create your business.
Evan Smith
Why not try to raise funds through kickstarter or some kind of P2P loaning program?
Dominic Howard
Reach out to whatever university or college you went to. Often times they will have programs for alumni who are trying to start a business
Aaron Williams
Coding mainly. Applying what I've done in real life cases. Also marketing and give support to customers so I can invest my time in what matters. Today I do everything and the hours in a day aren't enough. This leads to delays and trouble with people. That's what I need to solve once and for all.
Luke Martinez
Thank you

Sounds like you're a back-end guy. In the development of software you have software engineers(back-end) and software architects(front-end). You need to find your architect. Steve Wozniak had Steve Jobs and look how Apple is doing. Yes there are people out there prepared to work for nothing but a dream but they are hard to find. Normally its the front end guy that finds these people as they are more skilled at dealing with people and realising their true potential but Im sure if you break yourself out of your bubble you can meet one. Universitys are an example of places where you might find your Steve Jobs. Try get involved in tech related clubs at your local one perhaps? If you do your research and work out what a good architect needs to have they will be the one that directs you towards revenue streams and finds new talents while you handle development of the product.
Jaxson Barnes
happy to help.
what's the industry, out of curiosity?
Jacob Rivera
just bolt on blockchain to your product and do an ICO. instant 100mil
Michael Russell
I'd do, I really believe in this and I also know I could pay back to whoever gives me credit. But I just don't own enough stuff and banks don't like me.
Brody Scott
>No one will lend me money >ICOs raising millions easily
I'm a Wozniak fooling himself into believing he's a Jobs. I have no choice than trying to be both to survive. Sadly all the people I know in the field are students, or juniors. They understands the idea and loved what I've shown, but they're not up to the task yet. I should be the teacher too. Maybe I should stay in the backend and find my marketer.
Justin Bell
Both Wozniak and Jobs were students once. Students are where you will find him/her. Students have high levels of time and little money, searching for someone with an already proven track record means you are looking at people with low levels of time and high level of money. Look for charisma and ability to deal with people which is a rare skill in the IT industry. Sorting out people with charisma and working knowledge from people who are good at crafting bullshit is a real trick. My advice would be to read Dale Carnegies "How to win friends and influence people" but make sure you get the old version not the revised modern one. Look for a charismatic personality that uses influence rather than manipulation. Knowing the difference between these two may help you choose the right person to partnership with.
Nathaniel Harris
Software.
A little backstory. I've been a freelancer since I was 14yo, doing web dev and business software. After I got 18 I tried to grow, eventually I got to own an office, and have a few people working there, but they ended causing more trouble than what they generated. I still own the company (there's another partner but he only signed the paperwork to make the company and never got involved), but I gradually reduced it's size until I ended doing it all myself. I can live but I'm stuck trying to grow again.
This project is a software piece that solves every issue I found while working in almost 1,5k projects. Every thing I hated of the many languages and frameworks I got involved with. And therefore a project that can compete easily with any major framework. And I'm very confident that it can help a lot of developers and be used to help a lot of business in any field.
Logan Gomez
Base it on the blockchain and do an ICO.
Adam Bennett
>tfw noob programmer What exactly does your program do again? Maybe I can help with the real life part
Leo Anderson
so what coin is he talking about ?
Christopher Robinson
That's true. I just don't want to be the teacher. Been there. They all ended up leaving me and going to work at Accenture or some other corporation with what I taught them. But you're right. Thank you.
Cameron Reed
I actually think that thing is the new dotcom bubble. Just wait for it.
Brayden Torres
Tokenize whatever the fuck you're doing and make an ICO. If you have a working product already you'll be a millionaire in a week. Most of the projects receiving tens of millions of dollars don't even have an MVP. Just make it look like your software could be paid for only with your shitcoins (but not really) like tierion is doing. Don't release an ICO during the bear market though, only on major altcoin bullruns
Evan Harris
i second this
also, and im not joking, watch some episodes of shark tank. watch what the investors ask. then make your plan. TLDW? You need income if you want investment
Cooper Wilson
I'm not familiar with the tierion case. Do you mean charging people in bitcoins for instance?
Elijah Richardson
If you can’t find investors then your product isn’t that good. Just FYI.
Luke Garcia
Thanks. I have an income. I make a living out of this It's just is not enough to grow. I have to invest.
Hudson Wilson
You have a point. But I have never been rejected, I just haven't meet any investor. I just tried to reach some of them through their websites or addresses I found on google and whatnot. Never got an actual answer. So, maybe it's that I can't find the way, not that it's bad.
Noah Morgan
sorry, i wasn't clear your business needs an income if you want people to invest in it it seems backwards, but that's life
Adrian Fisher
If you, each day, attempt to stretch you legs gradually at least 1 inch toward your head, after 4 months, you should be able to successfully suck your own cock, that is at least a goal you can achieve.
Anthony Hernandez
who fucking cares. Grab your ICO money and cash the fuck out. And the whole market is going to at least x10 before it finally crashes.
no, you make your own ethereum erc-20 token, conduct an ICO with a few million cap at least (better $10M) and make this token a main form of payment for your services. Doesn't matter if anyone's actually going to use your platform or not, you're a millionaire now and your ICO investors made some gains, everyone's happy (except for the people who will eventually end up holding useless bags, but you legally don't owe shit to them so you're good)
Isaac Parker
It's not a get rich quick book. The title sucks. The info inside is great. He was already a millionaire when he wrote the book. He wanted to help others.
Henry Allen
No, I don't like to suck cock even if it's mine. That doesn't mean that's a bad advice. Thank you.
Jack Morales
Thank you then, I'll take a look

I'm a uni student learning software dev and would help in any way I could. I don't feel as if uni teaches you as much as you need to know but I'm a fast learner. I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

Nice try Sergey

Whatever your product or company is called add the word "blockchain" somewhere. I predict you won't have any problems raising capital after that
