The tech doesn't matter and never mattered, it's all a game that whales/insiders play. The goal has always been and always will be to accumulate more BTC. Every FUD, every PnD, every "flippening" attempt, every new paradigm, is just a way for smarter, bigger traders to accumulate more BTC.

That being said, LN will eventually become more widespread and will work, at the cost of being less like "Satoshi's vision". But the vast majority don't care about that, look at all the normies who bought fucking Ripple tokens of all things.

Well long term it's always possible something could change, but BTC is changing as well (which is what always causes these debates between various solutions and the original whitepaper, etc.)

If LN is successful it will wreck all the coins that are just BTC clones with faster speed/lower fees like LTC.

If Rootstock is successful it will wreck all the smart contract coins like ETH/NEO.

There's no reason to believe these two big projects won't be successful, even if it comes at a political/philosophical.

I am a poorfag and put most of my money from last semester in crypto. All I need is a couple of thousand bucks before Summer and I'll be set, no reason to pull out this early even though it fucking hurts to see all my money go down the drain right now.

BTC is BTC because it's a secure, decentralized trust currency that has a fixed supply and can act as a store of value.

LN will keep all those things, and will also make it possible to transact at VISA scale. It'll also open the way to much bigger possibilities on the secondary layer like privacy and smart contracts.

Could the usd crash in an instant for no reason? It’s possible, but unlikely. Same for btc, except it’s a slightly larger chance of happening to crypto.

everything I'm currently holding is mostly shit I bought 4-8 months ago, or even further back in some cases. Shit like $0.07 COSS, 50 sat XVG, $0.75 Kyber, $8 QTUM, I could go on and on. I really don't give a FUCK what happens with prices I hold through everything. I'll cash out when my portfolios worth $1.5M+ and retire early.

in some cases you could run into tax implications if you cash into USD as they exchange could forward that specific transaction to the IRS or whatever, I assume. Tether probably safer and with less tax implications.

Personally I just hold through these kind of shit, I've been through worse bear markets before and each and every time I come out substantially ahead. Just think longer term, don't panic sell at a loss. Yes it feels good to sell right at the top as it dips - I did that a couple weeks back with my QTUM around $77 and rebought at like $45, felt fucking amazing to cashout the profit from something like that, so if you time it right, great, but if you're already down 20-30%, I dunno, it's riskier, you could sell now and maybe it drops another 20% further and you make nice profit and rebuy your stack cheaper (or increase your stack), or maybe this shit turns around in 8-12 hours and everything starts going back up, meanwhile you're sound asleep, and you wake up having to pay a higher price than you sold for. That's usually what creates the biggest losers in crypto is when someone actually sells low and buys high.

Haven't been watching it the past couple days so I believe I missed the opportunity to sell and buy back
