Blue collar / skilled laborer bread

I was surprised in an earlier thread to see there was quite a few blue collar Veeky Forumsraelis so let's have a thread. If you sit at a desk while wageslaving stay the fuck out.

Gotta admit I'm jelly bro. Wish I had gone to a tech school for hvac or electrician. Tbqh though I'm terrified of electricity.
Heard that brother. I start anywhere from 4 am to 7 am some days.
Lmao what the hell are those acronyms?
You should move down here to Texas big dog, you'd be killing it.

Nice port my dude. When did you buy in to xlm? How long you gonna keep it?

Yeah I've heard there's a major automation scene in Texas but I'm guessing that's Houston and Corpus Christi and that doesn't sound up my alley. Granted, I've never been there before.

Honestly not too bad if I didn't have to start at 5 am

Bought most at .20 then split a bunch into the rest. I’m gonna play it by ear over the next month or two but I’ll maintain a position since I’m taking advantage of the inflation pool.

I'll be honest I don't know dick about automation. What's your general job descrip?

Nocoiner, not sure why I'm even here.

I program and troubleshoot the computers that automate things in factories. All those beer bottles that are getting filled by beer and moving down a conveyor? The things I program drive the motors that move the conveyors and pump beer into the bottles. Just one example. I actually do a lot of work chemical companies.

Thanks for your service faggot. What branch? My dad was retired army, tried to get me to go in, said nah fuck that. Although if you stick it out for 20 that free money is nice.
If you're a nocoiner but make money investing then what are your stocks?

>39
>Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing Contractor

Gotcha. In that case yes you could definitely kill it down here in the lone star. Dallas, Austin, Corpus, San Antonio would be great. Probably Houston too but like you said fuck Houston

>29
>Machinist
>I trade shitcoins while the machine earns my wage

Shit is cash desu

How do I get into this?

Sell options on whatever's volatile and pays well. I know I'm going to get fucked when the market corrects but I can hold and roll down my cost basis.

> maintenance Electrician

Hope to retire in a few years and give the finger to a select few coworkers on the way out.

I created the other thread, I'm a gardener and ecologist that operates small machinery (skidsteers, tractors, and small excavators)

You should invest in something, even if it's stocks or a 401k. Let your money work for you instead because when you put in enough, it should not only outweight your daily salary in a single week, but outweight your salary multiple times in a year. Look at that turtle fucking shit, you could've gained 30x in a week and cashed that out.

HVAC installer

Ah gotcha, that's a solid career. Good for you getting in young

I worked in instrumentation at a chemical plant. I also have a degree in electrical engineering which helped. While that might make me white collar I'd still argue the work I do is blue collar. Or light blue collar.

>27

How's that 4-20 mA signal treating you m8??

>middle management
That does not sound blue collar to me friendo.

I get a $1550 check (pretaxed) every month to work closely with special needs kids

Fuck America

army. DESU I only stick around because they practically don't demand anything of me

Basically a day laborer here.

Work for multiple temp agencies on a day to day basis. Mostly factory work/warehouse work/cleaning/handyman.

Yay for minimum wage with no job security doing shit that normal employees would not for the life of them do while being looked down on because 'we terk der jerbs!'.

And the icing on the shitcake is that I have a Master's degree.

seems like only blue collard retards are dumb enough to buy shitcoins

Yeah I'm going to start dropping small amounts, ~1k, into some small cap coins.

If I did that when I first heard of Bitcoin I could of funded the retirement of my entire extended family haha.

I mean it's $1550 after taxes

Blue collar is the best collar, my homies aint that smart, but they fucking work hard and take care of thier shit! Silver spoons are for babies!

Right now I have 1k into longterm for the year, I'm going to save up around 30% for trading on the weekends, afterwards I'm going to save up 20% for shitcoins shilled here that are new to see what happens after a week and continue that model. Last year if you put 1k into every good coin, you couldve turned outa portfolio of 500k.

>1k into longterm
Meant to say 1k in each longterm alt coin.

I agree my man, there's something special about sweating it out all day and going home to my comfy wife that has dinner waiting. I tried the office type shit at an insurance company, lasted 6 months before I said fuck this.

Blue collar work ain't bad. Can be really comfy and satisfying if you land a job with nice coworkers and interesting day-to-day tasks.

The problem with temp agencies is that most places only need you for 1-2 weeks tops (some even only 1-2 days or less) so they can't be arsed to get to know you (or even be bothered to greet you or talk to you) and some of places I've been have even had a somewhat hostile or cold atmosphere. Also, the kind of job you're hired to do in those ultra-short temps are usually completely braindead, monotonous tasks because they can't be bothered to spend time on a temp when he'll be gone the next day. Which is fair, I guess.

I hear ya man. What's stopping you from trying to get into a skilled labor apprenticeship like another user said? Sounds like you're in a really shitty spot.

My brother was a Mechanical Engineer, two years in the office and he went back out and started a paint company. Sitting all day is hard work!

I don't know. I think there's a mental barrier. Sunken cost-fallacy. Me thinking I would have wasted 5 years at university if I do it, which, to some extent, is true.

I'm trying to land some internships or get into a wage subsidy program within my field but if I don't keep up working on the side doing temp work, I'll run out of unemployment insurance.

Further down the road (when that plan fails) I'll most likely do what the other user suggested.

I actually supposedly get paid $14 an hour. But they keep money from every paycheck so they can pay you during summer. Plus as a young single male 30% is taken for taxes. So it works out to $1550 a month I guess

What degree?

19. Road Construction Laborer.

Currently unemployed cause it's seasonal work. Shit fucking sucks man. I have expenses. I need to do something. It's good to have a small break in the year, but a man's gotta make money you know.
I used to do a bunch of a work with my dad doing brick patios and sidewalks. I still help him out on the side even though there weren't a lot of leads for him last year. Hopefully this year is busy.

I'm not 19. I'm 20, lol. I started road construction when I was 19.

I swear to God if I make it, and get to one million on crypto, I'm taking a year off to read all the special needs education research there is, then opening my own special needs private school. It will not be a slave to the massive state education machine and will be progressive in its methods. Right now I go to work everyday and do glorified day care. If I start my school I'll change the world (of special education).

Hey mate, I'm an 4th year industrial sparky apprentice.
Looking to get more into plcs and what not.
Just started a PLC course, going to do engineering after that.
Any advice?
I'm from Australia

Well, dream big buddy. Good on you, pic related.

Thanks man its been rewarding.

euthanasia would be much cheaper

The PLC course and engineering will definitely help. Look for companies that are systems integrators as these are the guys that do the coding for actual end users like chemical plants

Environmental science, which was a B.S. Most colleges do a B.A. I'm only a partime gardener right now because it has ecologist attached to it, that I can just fully merit when I'm applying for jobs in the future. It's especially true during the off months with GIS and crap.

Also you think there aren't millionaire parents with retarded kids? If I pull off my idea and go around the country doing public speaking I'd be even richer

My dad was a stagehand all his life. I tried getting into it in my early 20's but couldn't hang. It wasn't even that hard, it was just lot of the guys despised me for no good reason. I generally suck at working with my hands, though.

I did B.S. in Ecology with a minor in CS. Then M.S. in Microbiology. Now work as a data analyst in one of the large biotech companies. All the good ecologist master also CS. I hope you do as well. I doubt it though as you're probably a girl..

Nah not girl, especially since I operate machinery. What's CS? Computer skills? I'm hoping that my GIS skills in terms of computing for species type with lidar and hyperspectral data will offer me a comfy position for discovering invasive breakouts. Hardly some shit a girl would care to learn and it takes a really big dickhead to actually go through that research in terms of field calculating to know how to do so.

35

NEO, ETH, XRB, OMG, BTC

Like good for you that you spent money for a CS, really. But I took time to learn that in my spare time, as well as a ton of other shit like designing with adobe and learning how to use lidar and hyperspectral data analysis. I might be 42k now, but in the future I have all the qualities to become the top of my field opposed to some wage cuck who learned that shit in school and thinks they are settled. I know everything, from operating machinery, selecting plant design, creating promotional material, to figuring out soil datum from GIS. You are an absolute imbecile to think you have any leeway above me, hahaha.

33, Journeyman electrical lineman
Im in Neo and Sugar exchange 50/50.

Which is why competitors in my job already left, I gained a 10% increase, funny, beceause I'm going for my bosses job and quiting for when I get offered that NYC main position for ecology and then quitting that for the state, then quitting that for the entire United States. You only need to learn the basics to become a good fucking manager and realizeing when your workers are fucking you over for time spent. That itself earns money, let alone all the other shit bb.
