Anyone else been on Veeky Forums since they were about 14? Turning 30 soon, might as well stay here forever

Anyone else been on Veeky Forums since they were about 14? Turning 30 soon, might as well stay here forever.

remember
you're here forever

Yep.

Fuck.

but actually I've been here about 10 years, when I was underage I'd just lurk tho

Been here since 2008, 23 now. Shits changed man. Things aren’t fun the way they used to be. Feels a lot more malicious now, unfortunately. Like, back in the day it was a tongue-in-cheek sort of mean, but now there’s a lot of legitimate hate on the website. It’s draining and depressing, especially since I met my two best friends of all time on Veeky Forums

i remember reading and not posting for years, told my best friend in middle school about it on the bus ride to school.

now i'm a shell of who i once was at 26 years and we're no longer friends.

this place is my home and my deathbed.

>"Veeky Forums hasn't even fucking been around that lo..."
>2003
>~15 years
>I remember "4 more years!" being a thing
Fuck

turned 30 four months ago, been here since 2008,

can't say that I regret it, just balance it with your life and this a good place to chill out/troll/laugh/etc

since 11, currently 21

old age fag here. off and on with Veeky Forums since 2007. I'm 33 now. have hopped between /b/ Veeky Forums /k/ Veeky Forums and now Veeky Forums. only wish i had left /b/ sooner desu

I honestly don't see myself leaving. Women only want one thing which is kids and I'd rather overdose at 29 years old than raise a little shit I will never really care about.

been here since 08 off and on

It's been 16 years already? Fuck.

Yes...since I was 14 and that was in 2008. I already know, as some others have pointed out, that a ton of people have been here just as long and still can't leave despite a ton of even newer people flooding the website and you know. I spent about 8 hours on Veeky Forums today alone since there's is where I've been "living" for the past 15 months. It still consumes everything I do.

You don't have a choice, you are here forever user.

Thought it was just me that felt this way. Maybe we're just old now.

Hmm I'm probably here since 2013, when I was 15-16

~2007. 25 now. thought you'd fucked me up for good there for a minute.

I've been here since 2006 but I was 22.

30 and been here since 2004... b to pol (Ron Paul 2012!) to r9k & biz.

yep. Found /b when I was... 12(?), turned 25 this year. what the fuck happened? Part of me still feels like I'm 19, and the other half of me feels like I'm 50.

Aggression towards newfags and the insistence on learning by lurking seem to have completely disappeared and I think it's a bad thing. But looking back, it seems like the way we spoke on Veeky Forums in 2008-2010 would make most people cringe and be more associated with funnyjunk and other trash meme sites that all popped up at once to capitalize on that marketing. But everything about Veeky Forums felt more real and genuinely interesting before. i just assume all those people migrated either to other chans or the deepweb and I've even tried doing that myself but can't bring myself to stay there instead of returning to the cancer here.

Hiro, for example, never posts like m00t used to often. It's all gone and I can't for the life of me explain it to people.

29
Been here since 2004.
Used to only come here for anime at first. Then porn. Then lulz. Then keks.

And now I used biz to lose all my money.
Wonder whats next.

since 15, 26 now. Used to be just pedos now it's just kids

I’m 34 been here over a decade, there is no leaving

The CP was brutal here back in 06.
Relentless at times

Ok well kek has spoken guess I'm here forever.

Thanks

I always assumed Veeky Forums would give me the "best" of a subject, so to speak. Nowadays people call it "redpilling" but my point was that if there was a better, "patrician", way of doing something that most normal people were not already doing, this was the place to find it, no matter what it was. And that idea seems built into the anonymity of this place.
holy shit quads. Yeah that's a clear sign.

16. About to turn 31.

I don’t think that’s it. I think the attitude of the website, and the world itself, has shifted. The far right and far left are both to blame for this atmosphere, the far right just have more of a voice here.

No, it's what happened, sadly.

Been here about 10 years. 30 now.

I think there's really something powerful to this.

To some degree the anonymity provided removes conventional prejudicial barriers in discussing ideas, happenings, etc.

No longer is someone, who the average person would consider conventionally unattractive/born in x country/of x religion/old or young/ ostracized outright (that is presuming they do well to protect their personal identity) This allows a more free and accessible dialogue to occur between people who may otherwise never interact in any meaningful way.

There are some examples that do well to highlight this positive nature. /g/ for example got into bitcoin very early because a large collection of extremely technologically focused individuals shared knowledge there on a regular basis and there were limited barriers to prevent the seed of knowledge spreading there. From a purely statistical standpoint it was inevitable that crypto got huge on Veeky Forums first.

However it must not be understated: the average Veeky Forums user carries ideas colored by prejudice in the real world into the discussion forum, allowing it to manifest and spread in an inorganic way and thus alter the conversations which would perhaps be otherwise impossible in an anonymous forum. Basically /pol/ is a very interesting science experiment of real life and Veeky Forums in an unstable feedback loop.

idk where I'm going with this but god damn do I love Veeky Forums, /pol/ included

Since 2006 or 7.. I'm 29 now.

I have a 9 page college paper I wrote about Veeky Forums as a college freshman.. That was almost 10 years ago now X__X

Found out about it in 2004
Came here and thought it was just a picture website
Everyday I wish i actually opened a thread instead of just taking a quick glance and leaving, I would have liked it here back down
Revisited back in 2013 /b/ atleast had some ok threads amongst the copypasta posts, now Veeky Forums would be better off just deleting /b/
But even tho I missed all the good times and only caught the back end of bizs glory days I still come here all the time, no idea why the fuck I do

2008 was pure pure cancer. Chanology was the cancer that killed Veeky Forums

29 and you still talk like a faggot
go back to redit

been here forever. nowhere else are people as either as smart or dumb as they are mean. ^______________^

Yeah I know I'm a newfag.

yup, 33 now, been here for at least 12+ years, used to post almost exclusively on /b/ but now mostly biz, fit, and rarely pol

the quality of the internet as a whole has taken a sharp dive since social media normalized its use. you can go back to 1999-2005 and actually find intellectual discussion on most forums, etc - enthusiasts actually had to actively seek a community, and the populations were generally more knowledgeable or passionate about the subjects . Veeky Forums has always been a shitposting community, but now it's just low quality shitposts

Been here since i was 13~, lots of good laughs, I also got my job studying with books downloaded on /t/, you nerds are almost my family

I started getting to /a/ back in high school, then fell in love with Jap shit until I found Kpop, so I started making the /kpg/ threads in /mu/ back in 2013, which apparently had existed before but hadn't cropped up on that board in years, and then I spent all my time there through part of college, watching movies and shows with the livestream group from /kpg/ and meeting some of them in person, until I went to Korea twice and saw all the kshitters and found my wife there, my real wife, married and am going back again soon. Basically the biggest decisions in my life can be attributed to this place.

I'm almost 21 now, I think I've only been here since I was like 16 and I didn't really start posting 24/7 until around 18.

I'll probably be here in one form or another until I die or the website dies.

since 2007 and im 29 now turning 30 this year

i was smart enough to leave multiple times for a year or two at a time in that span

if you faggots dont get me rich this time i gone for good

I remember when moot was just a raging furfag on SA

>All these people saying "Hurr it used to be better"

No shit faggots literally everything used to be better. We've entered a 'post-modern' age where everyone is ironic, condescending, and pessimistic. There's also the fact that the site has probably largely kept its core userbase, and that userbase went from a bunch of 14 year olds high on life pretending to be cool edgy 18 year olds, and now they're all 26 - 30 and depressed.

I've been here since 1941, been dead since 2007.
I'm just a Ghost in the Shell

Maybe it's true. /b/ was a bunch of 14 year olds. I assumed it still is today but maybe you're right about that.

yep. was part of habbo hotel and the anti-scientology stuff. good times.

No. No you weren't lmao
You read about that stuff

since like 15, 24 now
somehow ended up only browsing /sp/ and Veeky Forums

This website made me buy a dog.

i was like 17 posting on b/ religiously and used to say i was 21 when people called me under age then i turned 21 and didnt post on /b/ pretty much ever since so you could definitely be right

I joined in 2017 when I heard that this place is like a hub for crypto knowledge and trump news

/b/ almost convinced me to spend 3k on bitcoin in 2009 too bad i was too lazy to click the button

also kys

About 23ish. I’m 33 now

>joined
You have to go back

The only change I've really come to notice in Veeky Forums over the years is that there's shitloads of newfags. Just millions of them. This site has more traffic now than it ever has.
I remember when you could start a thread on pol and it would last a few days. That no longer exists. And since pol had such an enormous impact on the 2016 US election it's become clear that there are people coming in to post their "view points" rather than engage in any meaningful discussion. This is the same with biz too, there are people out there using the website as free advertisement for their new coin.
You can still find great quality posts on here, but for the meantime some of the larger boards just move to fast.
I came to this board when /ourguy/ Zimmerman was found innocent. The shitposting from the anons on twitter surrounding that trial had me in tears. I only found this place when some butthurt leftist degenerate said "go back to Veeky Forums" lmao

First came here at 18 because someone in wow claimed i was a ebin troll from here. That was 7 years ago.

>pic very related

I lurked mainly in 04 and 05 didn't use much started posting more over the years afterwards. I still remember the cyberpolice backtrace shit with Jesse Slaughter on /b/

>The adventures of Chinman was 18 years ago
