what do

Keep drinking it

IPAs suck

It's not worth wasting money on alcohol. It's another trick to get you fat and lazy.

>he fell for the "craft" meme

Drink from the bottle, or a glass?

Like my father used to say - Beer is something you learn to appreciate with time and age.

Nobody likes alcohol when they first try it, I used to force down beer and drink shitty mixed drinks just to get drunk with my friends but as you get older you actually learn to appreciate alcohol. Now by the time I was 20 I already loved beer and whiskey neat but that's because my parents were never around and I'm a fuck up, but don't let that discourage you, try different booze and see what you really like.

Go get yourself a six pack of woodchuck hard cider if you seriously can't handle beer, granted you drank IPA shit but still.

You're not going to like beer for a while, if ever. Try cider, or mixing liquor, or even hard liquor. they're all nicer tasting than beer

should have bought some Budweiser instead.

No idea why so many people seem to think this. I loved beer from the first time I tried it.

>Drinking IPAs

Damn son you retarded

Same, I don't understand why people power through drinks they don't like for the sake of looking manly. It's not an "acquired taste you get used to with age" it's an alcoholic drink, you either enjoy it or not, but wasting years and money trying to like it is dumb tbqh

Be proud you aren't a degenerate.
Congratulations on being a sane adult who doesn't spend money on alcohol.

Alcohol. The original meme food.

What I don't understand is why people would want to like alcohol.

>his first beer is literally called "Punk IPA"
>wonders why it sucked

IPAs are shit. The ones with edgy names especially.

>what do

Drink beer that isn't a meme. Or, get into hard liquor if youre really pressed to get into some kind of alcohol.

Finish the bottle, save the rest for guests, buy something different.

It's the normie herd mentality

You bought an IPA, the most bitter and hoppy beer available.

buys a IPA for his first beer lol drink bud light to get use to taste then move up

It's called an acquired taste. Some people don't like hot chili peppers, black coffee, cilantro, or certain foods. It's not rational the pain of a burning sensation or bitterness, both mechanisms that biologically scream "DON'T INGEST THIS."

That, and the fact that alcohol is a strong psychoactive substance.

Drink two beer as fast as you can (in under 30 minutes). Enjoy it.

>20
>haven't had a drink

also
>first beer
>fell for the IPA meme

IPA's are terrible. They're for hipsters and "foodies" who are in denial and refuse to admit how bad they are. If you want a good first beer, start out with a fruity wheat beer, then work your way up to lagers.

Cilantro is not an acquired taste, the majority of people enjoy it and a minority of people have a genetic defect that makes cilantro taste soapy and gross.
Black coffee doesn't have to be bitter, it's all in how you prepare it which is why there's thirty dozen different devices with which to do so.
The pungency of hot peppers isn't even a taste, it's a different reaction entirely.

youre right & wrong. cilantro tastes like certain chemical triggers that only otherwise show up in poisonous things. >this triggers the subconscious
after enough time & repeated exposure, you get over it. without that early life exposure, youll probably never like it.

OP, try red ales, belgian ales, or lagers. you wont like any of them at first, but ipas aren't a good first choice.

Try cider, hard root beer, kahlua mixed with almost anything, mai tais, etc. Things that are super sweet, but still have alcohol in them and can still get you drunk.

If you don't like those, then you don't like alcohol. No harm, no foul.

Just quit now, you fucking pussy

I know this is Veeky Forums, but do you have to be such a pedant? There are scientific studies about acquired taste, and those three (along with alcohol) are at the top. You're just coming off as an idiot.

>like certain chemical triggers that only otherwise show up in poisonous things

This is """supertaster""" propaganda.
People who dislike cilantro have defective noses, they are incapable of smelling the plant.
Because scent is so important to our sense of taste, they cannot taste cilantro properly.

>Its a "I drink for the taste" thread

Go get a neutral alcohol like vodka and mix it with something you do like in a moderate amount. Water doesn't count. Get used to the feeling of inebriation and start exploring out once you get to the taste of alcohol in a drink. If you do beer, go for a macro easy access beer like a Michelob first. It is basically slightly beer flavored water. Branch out from there. A good next move is Brown Ales, certain Bocks, and Mexican beer that isn't Corona.

Try some mixed drinks. Like maybe some vodka and Grapefruit juice. And don't let anyone tell you any drinks are for women. That's stupid.

drink rest
get buzz
cry to sleep over wasted money

Buch of whiny straight edgers or wine drinkers in this thread for sure!

Beer as with most things sour and bitter are often an acquired taste, no magical mumbo jumbo about that either, taste and palate adjusts and changes with time and experience.

Don´t like beer and not particularly interested in how people find it enjoyable? Don´t drink more of it! Simple as that.

...

If you don't like it don't drink it.
I like the taste, so I drink it.

Unlike hard liquors, you aren't even going to get drunk off beers, so there's no point in not drinking it if you don't like it.
Unless you're autistic and scared of someone offering you one.

>you aren't even going to get drunk off beers
Alchie here, I drink about 20 a night after work for a good buzz. You're full of it.

Acquired taste is total bullshit past the age of 18

You're just desensitizing yourself beyond that point

>Drinking the liquid jew

IPAs are NOT the place to start with beer or alcohol at all

go with flavored/fruity rum and fruit juice for easy alcohol intake

starting with beer, go for a lager like Yuengling
if you like it, you can move on to ales and porters, stouts and IPAs last

>IPA as your first alcohol ever
LMFAO. This would be like eating an habanero straight as your first spicy food ever. Start with wine or cider, get used to them and try a regular lager or porter, then think about IPAs.

Get a non shit IPA for a start

Brew Dog is for useless hipster cunts who don't actually understand decent quality beer

>God tier
water
>Great tier
tea
>Good tier
wine
>Okay tier
coffee
>Questionable tier
beer
>Shit tier
soda

You started at near bottom. Instead start from the top, if you can't get into artisan waters try tea, and so on, until you get into something good that isn't too deep for you.

Liquors are inbetween wine and coffee.

...

That is.. perfectly reasonable. I guess I should specify that I've never encountered anyone who drinks beer to get buzzed. I can't even get buzzed on vodka, so getting drunk is way too expensive for the minimal pleasure it gives.

Why do you drink that much beer instead of harder liquor though?

Dude, it's an IPA. That's like drinking your first cup of coffee black with no sugar. Get a brown ale or a stout to start.

Beer is an acquired taste in general though.

Drink other stuff, find what you like.

Is this roller derby thing a new meme?

The legal drinking age might be 21, but that doesn't stop a fuckbunch of 18 year olds from shitposting on your favorite board.

its from portland, which is hipster central or at least heavily infested

big rolled derby following, & yeah its mostly girls

t. oregonfag who hates portland

forced meme from probably some bad boy bubby fuck that's been trapped in his house for two decades and come out into a new and strange land

Sierra Nevada was my first beer, at age 16. Now the only beers I drink are IPAs, stouts, and ales. Favorites breweries are Founders, Stone, Bells, Dark Horse, and Sierra Nevada still. I legitimately cannot stand to drink any macro brewery crap, but I don't judge people for their preferences.

I think goose island is very mediocre. I would start with Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale (very mild with low alc% for a micro brew) or Bell's Two Hearted (be careful with this as a first drink)

>20 years old
>never had beer before or any alcoholic drink
>just bought pic related
>first sip
>absolutely disgusting

what do

>brewdog punk ipa
don't do that

IPAs taste very hoppy, as in they have a relatively strong taste, and of course hops are bitter

Try a pilsner, they're not as strong and bitter. I'm drinking pic related right now and it's great.

Basically most mainstream lagers (Fosters, Kronenbourg, Stella Artois, Budweiser, Becks, Peroni, whatever) are pilsners, you will probably like them more

IPAs are notorious for being bitter due to hops overload.

If you want to ease your was into beer, shandy's and or fruity belgian wheats are a good starting point.

>cider
>nicer tasting than beer

Triggered

Pass it over here.

Cilantro still tastes like soap to me but I've grown to like it.

>The legal drinking age might be 21

Not in the united kingdumb of great Bongistan it isnt.

Obviously, I was joking but if you really want to feel bad, I can find pliney at the trashy liquor store down the street.

a rekorderlig is good. tastes like juice.

Go to a beer store that sells a good pilsner. These are made to be highly drinkable and inoffensive, but good ones will still be able to show off some nice, classic beer flavors.

Any reputable beer store should have several varieties of German and Czech pilsner, such as Weihenstephaner, and there are some good American ones, such as Victory Prima Pils and Great Divide Nomad Pilsner.

Ask the clerks at the beer store for recommendations on other classic style lagers as well. To clarify the situation, you might want to explain that you're a faggot, and new to alcohol.

do people hate IPA's to be contrarian?
i mean, i get that their overrated for the most part, but theyre still pretty good, especially in the spring and summer.

I just came in here to say youre all faggots.

>do people hate IPA's to be contrarian?
Mostly, yeah. I've noticed a lot has a lot to do with the image of the average IPA drinker itself though, since they tend to be the poster manchild for the current nu-male menace infesting all that is microbrew, and whenever I talked beer with my ex, other alcoholics, or alcoholic friends, the one thing they always went for on the subject of IPA's, or IPA bugzapper brands like Stone and such, were the hipster fagwads that worshipped them

I just don't like them. I like most other sour and bitter foods but overly hoppy beers just taste terrible to me.

Just get something regular, man. Not this gay shit.

>everyone on Veeky Forums is americuck
lmao

You couldn't have picked a worse beer for your first. Try something more mellow like a lager or a blonde ale. pic related is my current favorite. Super refreshing without a soapy bitter taste.

I just went to the kona brewery a few weeks ago on vacation. They have some killer beers.

Beer isn't something you actually ever like
It works by the power of Stockholm Syndrome

Drinking age is 19 where I'm at. You learn fairly quickly at that age that there is nothing mystical about getting shitfaced like a fucking pleb. Drinking is a waste of time and not worth the gut.

It has less to do with having the taste grow on you and more to do with the crippling fear I experience every time I sober up.

For well adjusted individuals, with no addictive tendencies, I couldn't agree more.

>tfw you won't be one of those people who drinks every day
>ywn buy a pack of tins every day to drink at home
>ywn be that guy who sees what spirits he can get on the cheap
>ywn get used to drinking, and strong alcoholic drinks will never be something you drink to relax but always associated with socialising or special events
>ywn be judged by the off licence staff as you come in AGAIN to buy the same old shite

Feels good, mang.
Although Veeky Forums will now probably gank me since I'm the kind of person who orders/buys a drink to compliment the food-whether it's beer or wine or whatever, but also always has water for when I want to actually just quench my thirst.

It's fun tho.

This
I think it's the only style I actually hate. All bitterness with not much else. I don't understand how it became the most popular type of craft beer.

Don't sweat it, bro. I'm in my thirties and still can't stand the taste of beer.

I can drink any other alcohol under the sun, just not fucking beer.

Not particularly in my opinion. Only in moderation with friends. My personal drug of choice to have fun alone would be weed, but the long term effects of that also make you lazy and fat.

drink wine. beer is poorfag-tier

ok grandma

t. female

Someone has never experienced Badge Mountain, I see.

I pray you never do.

I've tried weed a few times and for me it's just not as good as alcohol. Alcohol hits fast and lasts as long as I keep drinking and not much longer. Weed just mellows me out for a few hours and gives me a headache the next morning. With alcohol all I have to do is moderate how much I drink and temper it with plenty of water and I'm fine in a few hours. Almost never been hungover.

Extra empty calories is literally the only downside.

Different situations those 2 are. If I'm chilling with my family on a holiday I would drink alcohol. If I'm watching a movie then definitely weed.

cheap beer beginner's guide:
buy a couple tallboys of various cheap beers
natty, coors, bud light, etc
find which one you like best (coors)
the first couple times you drink it it will taste bad, after the first two beers the rest will taste fantastic

no, do not do this. They are all the same, just buy what is on sale that week. Don't waste your time trying to figure out what shitty light beer is the best

Drink lagers, porters, or brown ales for your first beers.

FPBP

Don't drink IPA.

Drink ale and mead like a man.

>Drink ale and mead like a LARPer viking wannabe
ftfy

>Don't drink India Pale ALE
>drink ale instead

yeah, you realize the 'A' in IPA stands for 'ale', correct?

Ipa is a bit harsh for a first beer. Try a nice Pilsner or Hefeweizen. Those are good entry beers

Beer newbie here. I can fucking chug a tallboy and not feel a thing. I'm not bragging here, I want to get buzzed, I'm just wondering if that's normal.

Eh, 27 here. I can get a couple beers in before I feel anything.

It sorta depends on the alcohol content of the beer, if you have any drinking experience prior to that, and how fat/heavy/tall you are.

I don't drink (the famiglia thinks I'm crazy), but good on those who have fun with it.
