Challenging drinks

Do you like Campari?

What are some other alcoholic drinks most of the people will find extremely unpleasant and hard to drink?

Campari is delicious.

Uhh...
Malort comes to mind as does anything in the wormwood and anise families like ouzo, raki, pastis, and absinthe.

This tastes like self loathing.

Campari has nothing on Malort. Some people find Fernet unpleasant, but I love it.

Campari, Martini, Cinzano, and Vermut of Reus (Spain)

Its like drinking red coloured bleach

Scotch or whiskey.

I remember this stuff being pretty rank, but maybe I just got a shit batch. Apparently people drink it half and half with Guinness, but I don't think that would have helped.

This garbage right here. Tastes like sewage water

Lauria Alpine Cream is a sweet, tasty blend of cream and pear liqueur, with the texture of vomit. Sometimes there are large chunks of pear in it.

Some asian spirits are pretty rank for the inexperienced.

Like chinese food and dead animal

pussies.

Cynar is bretty gud.

Southern Comfort Fiery Pepper.

It's Souther Comfort blended with Tabasco sauce.

Yes. It was a thing. I don't know if they still make it, but I still have a bottle that my friend bought me as a joke.

Surprisingly, it's actually pretty good in Coke for some reason.

Unicum is pretty gross desu lads

Suze, same bitterness from that root as campari with herbals and a but of spice

Try making a Negroni without it.

Can confirm. It's even worse than everclear.

Fucking Mezcal.

never had but i doubt it could be much worse than bacardi 151? that shit is impossible to hide in any kind of mix and just brings back memories of alcohol poisoning and shitting your pants.

This. I can use it in a few things to add a little smokiness, but beyond that, must gross as fuck.

Worst thing is I was given two massive bottles of the stuff and I never use more than maybe 10-15 mls at a time. I'm gonna be stuck with this shit for decades.

Suze is great, an not that bitter.

Man, I've done shots of that stuff and it's one of the few things that will actually make me vomit.

College: never again.

People don't like campari? Never knew.

A buddy of mine has been trying to get me into scotch for years, but to this day all I taste is iodine. Asian alcohol is generally dogshit, save for plum wine.

Fucking Bacardi 151...

You ever been to Vegas? They got those fucking Fat Tuesday places everywhere there, they sell various flavors of frozen drinks (margaritas and the like). Any rate, anything that has rum in it they use 151 in. They'll also sell you an extra shot in your drink for a buck.

I got the smallest size with the extra shot (because I'm a bartending guy and I know that shot is gonna cost me at least 5.00 anywhere else, so I can't say no to a 1.00 shot). There had to have been at least 4 or 5 ounces of goddamn 151 in my drink.

Vegas does not give a fuck.

never been. want to go. won't get the 151 fuck that shit ever again unless i need to start a fire.

Avoid Fat Tuesdays, then. Their hurricanes taste like burning.

Don't understand how one can not like Martini or Cinzano, they are absolutely delicious in my opinion
I was planning on trying Fernet, as well as Cynar and Suze, and I will.
Also don't understand how can one not like Everclear if it is pure alcohol. Of course drinking it straight would be painful, but if diluted with water or something else it should turn to vodka, how can it possibly be worse than vodka?
I made several people try Campari and none liked it, most of them couldn't finish a shot. I personally like scotch, Islay types are indeed iodine but that's not a problem for me, non-Islay shouldn't be iodine at all, but they are all indeed bitter.

Love Campari.
Just opened a new bottle.

...

This. Bäska droppar (Bitter drops), a malört/malort/wormwood spiced liquor is somewhat popular here, but at the same time something that most people find disgusting and have a hard time getting down.

Some people apparently hate pic related.

There's just people who think licorice/anise is nastier than dog shit.

Personally, I like it. Bit too sweet straight though.

That shit is the worst

Do you like it straight up, or with some soda or lemon?

I'm not sure how you're supposed to get drunk on this. The first shot is nice, but beyond that, ugh...

Try it in an espresso, breakfast of champions tier

I can't bring myself to swallow this shit.

Ur meant to use it as anal lube

Anyone here try pastis/pastaga? Shit is fucking rank. I already hate black licorice, so licorice tasting liqour had me ready to die Had I not been in Marseilles Id have never touched the stuff. No idea why people would drink it regularly.

Just seeing the picture made me feel sick in the tummy.

We used to mix this shit with root beer. Also pretty good in pineapple soda (Faygo brand).

Not bad if you can handle the incredible amounts of sugar.

it's shnapps dude. after one or two shots its obnoxiously sweet. you're supposed to mix drinks and shit with it.

This is the new hipster drink

Bacause they like it

Love pastis. It was everywhere in France, and dirt cheap, and then I moved to America and if you can even find it it's really expensive for some reason.

I can imagine it tasting good when mixed with various stuff. But straight it's undrinkable.

Yeh like 4 years ago buddy.
I washating hipsters liking Fernet before you even knew what a Fernet was.

What does Chartreuse taste like?

I've become a big fan of some liqueurs, such as Benedictine, good orange liqueurs, berry liqueurs, and would like to try it, but am hesitant to drop the $50-60 that Chartreuse costs.

I'd imagine some people think Benedictine is "challenging" at least on its own. I think it's great by itself, but works even better with brandy or fruit liqueurs. Any of you fags got any good Benedictine cocktail recipes?

Pretty much any beer draws complaints from people, but especially lambics, saisons, heavily hopped IPAs, and stouts.

I can't believe Argentinians chug this shit neat, it's fucking vile. A dash of Fernet on whatever fruity punch is very nice though

It's the one thing that's even more challenging that straight vermouth.
Jesus christ I'm never going to touch vermouth again.

a little strong

People who are interested in trying an anise-flavored drink should try Becherovka. It's backed up by a pleasant cinnamon and clove flavor rather than being a straight-up licorice bomb. It can be tricky to find though.

based

Malibu and milk with a handful of ice is great on a warm day. Trust me on this one, just try it.

I don't think you're really supposed to drink liqueur straight, but yeah, I'm the only one around who seems to buy it regularly. Good stuff.

Becherovka tastes like Christmas.

Gin tastes like Christmas

Does it still taste like black licorice though?

I dig clove and cinnamon, but can't do anise

It's made with anise, which is what gives licorice its flavor, so yes. I still say it's worth a try if you ever find a friend or a bar with a bottle and you can just try a small glass of it.

Who aquavit here?

It's an acquired taste, but I sure went and acquired it. The dill, in particular makes some amazing bloody marys. Perfect on a hot summer weekend after you've mown the lawn.

bleh. brings me back to a night when i drank two bottles of straight vermouth because i'd already stolen the rest of the parents' stash. ended up getting the liquid courage to get laid, but totally not worth the memory. looking back i have no idea why i didn't at least try to water it down or mix it, i had plenty of options.

I really like Campari, just bought a new bottle last week. Campari and club soda is a great summer drink.

My one qualm with Campari is that it is so damn sweet, it is like syrup. But it's not something to get shit faced on or anything, a couple of campari and sodas are nice.

lol yeah we've all had those bad experiences. I remember drinking vodka and Diet Coke and one time drinking a bottle of curacao because it was all I could get my hands on.

Hungarian Palinka is the worst shit I've ever had. Basically as long as its distilled in someones bathtub and contains alcohol it's good enough. Went pub crawling in Budapest where they just kept giving us the stuff for nothing, thought I'd try to impress the cute guide.....

Never again.

Any wine, red or white. Doesn't matter. Literally sour grapes and tastes horrible.

I don't know what it was. My vietnamese friend came back from a family get together with it, and he didn't know what it was. I don't even know if it had a label. It was not good.

Mah nigga

>challenging drinks

Like a better version of benedictine.
Higher proof (green) equals less sickly sweet and more herbaceous

sounds like Batida.

It is very vegetal, it tastes like biting grass, and also it is sweet. But I like it, it's one of the finest liqueurs I've ever tried. I drink it either diluted with water or straight on the rocks, mixing it would in my opinion spoil this great drink. It's 110 proof so it's a bit challenging to drink straight, but you can do that as well. If you're going to buy one, buy Chartreuse Verte (the green one).

I actually wanted to try palinka, thought it's a nice drink.

Delicious. I grew up with this, later I developed a taste for all things sour. In fact now I only chug the harshest, peaty malts and the most venomous after dinner liqueurs. I eat lemons, avoid sweets and I generally despise sweet things and especially sweet drinks like vodka which feel like gay fruit juice to me, and this is all campari's doing.
I also found out that most of the people that grew up with campari ended up loving sour taste

If you mix it with orange juice, it tastes like grapefruit.

as for other challenging drinks, I like kava-kava and jizz

I didn't find ouzo that bad. It's like licorice.
Granted I was like 15 when I last drank it so memory is vague.

I've never tasted it but it sounds pretty gay

this garbage

talk about a literal fucking meme

>if I don't like it, it's meme

>meme meme meme meme meme meme
meme meme meme meme meme meme
meme meme meme meme meme meme
meme meme meme meme meme memefloyver

there are some chinese foods with dead animals in them that are absolutely delicious

I've seen people get drunk on only schnapps than with any other liquor in my life. Obviously excluding beer and wine.

Never liked Campari very much, always prefered Aperol for my spritz.

The only way I can drink Malibu is mixed with some kind of juice.

This shit is fucking horrendous, so incredibly bitter.
The only reason a person would willingly drink it is ether on a dare or for its supposed health benefits.

isn't it a cultural drink? plenty of gross drinks survive on that basis.

>extremely unpleasant
Other people I don't know, but I find Jaggermeister undrinkable.

>edgy

Campari is the bombest ass shit

But limoncello isn't something I have been able to deal with.

Literally any non aniseed flavoured clear spirit. They're all fucking disgusting unless used as mixers.

Campari and soda water is fucking good.
I used to have one after drinking whiskey for the night as the last drink.

Sickest shit ever. Pussy as fuck too.

I dont know about you guys but everyone I know agrees that just the smell of this stuff makes people gag/throw up

I've never had it alone, only in cocktails.

I got a bottle of that for free.
We used to trick people into drinking it.
Nasty shit.

This shit is the absolute worst.
No one but frat bros drink it to show how "tough" they are.

>lambics, saisons, heavily hopped IPAs, and stouts

You named just about every beer besides pilsners and lagers...

jager isnt even a "tough" man's drink. it's not strong, just tastes like licorice
doing shots of 190 proof everclear is what you take to show off your "toughness". and also your stupidity

Leathernecks are how I started off a night of drinking back in college. 151 Rum and Tabasco.

fire water shots are popular here for some reason
151 rum and Tabasco
tasting the tabasco is honestly better than tasting the shit tier rum

spooky
