Why do chain restaurants give half-assed vegan menu items, if any at all?

I think this is why people have this retarded idea that vegan food is bland. Places like Red Robin and Denny's offer vegan burgers but it's the most bland shit I've ever tasted, as a vegan. Got excited seeing that Burger King's French toast sticks are vegan but even those are fucking nasty. Or do meat eaters actually think they taste good? Why is it these restaurants can come up with shit like pineapple bacon jalapeno chili dogs but they don't bother trying at all when it comes to their vegan items? How fucking hard is it to at least add some god damned grilled onions or avocado to a veggie burger? Then if we ask for it to be customized they'll roll their eyes. What the fuck do they expect?

Sometimes people go to eat with other people and not just by themselves.

Honestly I have never heard anything negative about vegan stuff (everyone seems to hate gluten free though). I've tried the veggie burger or what have you options at places though and they were fine. Sometimes downright enjoyable. I have always thought the problem people have with vegan options are the people that order them.

Not sure what you're trying to say. That's why I get forced to eat at these white trash dirty restaurants.

If these restaurants offer vegan options, you'll be more willing to go to them with your group of friends. As opposed to getting pissy with your group that the place they want to go to doesn't serve anything for you.

He is saying that restaurants offer the options so people with standard diets can go to their favorite places with their vegan buds.

As a vegan who has been on roadtrips and tried her hardest to be polite and let other people choose the restaurant, the vegan options offered at many restaurants are fucking torture. I have to stock up on Clif bars any time I visit the South. The vegan options in restaurants there are brutal.

So why do they insist on torturing the vegans who are being really polite by letting the meat eaters choose?

You reap what you sow, faggot.

That statement made no sense.

Well for one thing, you're eating at Red Robin/Dennys/Burger King, so you're scraping the bottom of the barrel already. Even their non-vegan options aren't really anything to write home about.

You sound like the kind of person who would go to a dive bar and complain that the wine list consists of "Red or White". If you want good vegan food it's out there, but you probably aren't going to find it in a veggie burger at Denny's or whatever and that should be plainly obvious.

He/she (only two fucking genders) is saying that if you chose to be vegan that you should expect to have to choose shitty options because being vegan IS a shitty option to choose.

Denny's has like 100 or more (honestly I haven't been there in years) menu items, and yet the one vegan option they have they put absolutely no thought into.

Don't you have some anime porn to fap to or something? No one cares about your opinion you raging little faggot.

Because veganism is still something of a niche, that's the reason.

When vegans make up more than a small fraction of their customers is when they will start catering more to them. Of course, you could say that they would get more vegan customers if they put effort into having good vegan food, but if they already make a good profit from non vegan customers they don't really have much incentive to do that

Supply and demand, business crap

I don't have a problem with vegans I was just translating. I WISH I was a faggot then maybe I wouldn't be so lonely.

Yeah but sometimes meat eaters might want a veggie burger too then they order it and realize it tastes like fucking watery cardboard and obviously never buy it again. If they made food that tasted good regardless of who it was for, people would come back for it. They have no pride is the real issue.

Oh okay. And sorry to hear that.

This. You choose an extraordinary life style then expect everyone to cater to it. Man up; the world is not your babysitter.

You're not understanding the point of this. The point is they have a menu item and they put no effort into it because????? It's actually like they're trying to make vegans suffer.

Also, obviously I don't expect that (though let's be real they fucking should because the alternative is pure degeneracy), since I have been extremely polite in letting meat eaters choose the restaurant. But to be honest that's mostly because I know they'll have a bitch fit if I suggest something and I'm stuck in a car with them for days.

To keep it chain-tier cheap AND fast to prepare.

They could very easily do that though with vegan food.

Her bicep is bigger than her boob. I'm not sure how I feel about this....something like half-arousal seasoned with dubious skepticism

Much more easily done than with animal products.

If you're vegan and eating at Denny's then you probably fucked up somehow in the first place, but I'm gonna digress now.

Honestly vegan cuisine just isn't that advanced in the west. There are a lot of tasty dishes that happen to be vegan by chance, but not design. Purposely cooking foods without using animal products is a fairly new concept to most of us; of course there are exceptions, especially in cuisine that originated in poor countries where meat was scarce. Moldavian cuisine in particular has some amazing dishes that are vegan simply due to necessity.

Most western countries have vegetarian dishes that are excellent; Italy and every other coastal country have great pescetarian dishes as well. Most of these countries' modern culinary traditions only extend back for a few hundred years at best though.

On the other side of the globe, there are groups of people who have been cooking vegan for religious/cultural reasons for hundreds or possibly thousands of years. That's why you can find a library's worth of vegan food in India, for example. If you open a restaurant there, you've gotta deal with like 40 different religions, all of whom can't eat random shit for random reasons. Pretty much all of them can eat plants, though, so they figured out how to make them taste good.

Expecting to walk into a western chain restaurant and get good vegan food is kinda like expecting an Indian guy to eat with a fork and not water his butt in the bathroom.

As a vegan who was a waitress, I'm always overly kind to people in positions of service. Usually the only options at most restaurants are salads, french fries, and maybe a baked potato if we're lucky.
My town is pretty progressive so a lot of places do have veg options. Ethnic food is usually a safe bet when eating out for tasty vegan food.

maybe it's a ploy to keep ppl chained to meat so they can keep murdering animals unnecessarily bc they're evil and only want $$$

just kill yourself. Vegans are entitled speshul little snowflakes who are annoying af and highstrung bitches who go all drama-llama when somebody doesn't buy into their fucking no-meat-no-dairy-religion.

I don't want to forcibly remove them. But I would want a law that states you get a free slap in the face on anyone who are touting their bs-religion.

Can't tell if mocking meat eaters or serious lol.

Yankee Cunt go home

I'm from California if you think I'm from the northern states. Don't care either way though.

Like it should be. Eat shit, fag.

>?????????
>$$$
>lol
Go back to tumblr, reddit or whatever other hugbox you came from.

I don't think I'd ever have a vegan friend, they just seem like a weird type of people

Just go to a japanese restaurant, vegan options abound, everyone's happy.
Most other popular cuisines for chain restaurants rely on cheese too much because it's an easy way to add flavor

been on Veeky Forums going on 11 years. I can use $$$ instead of saying money because I don't need to type everything out and u can still understand me bc typing fucks with my wrists
you getting mad about ppl typing a certain way is pretty lulzy though

fuck you picky assholes that cant just have 1 cheat day on vacation "But my friends made me go" is an even shittier excuse since you're so fucking pretentious you can't just order something good off the menu like a normal person because you have to let everybody know you're a hero that doesn't support the suffering and torture of animals
be vegan on your own time but dont complain when chains aren't catering to the special snowflake 1% of the population and eat like a normal person for 1 meal of the 21 you eat a weak

>trying THIS hard to fit in
Please just go back to tumblr.

>thinking there are any independent communities anymore
Veeky Forums users are tumblr users are reddit users

>implying I'm trying to fit in at all

It's so that if a vegan is dragged along with other people to the place he still has something to eat. Vegans aren't the target audience for these and you probably won't ever be catered to unless you become a more relevant demographic.

because meat eaters are their target audience and it's not worth expending much effort for the vegetarian dish
