Because it has a crust underneath it. Don't be retarded.

They don't, they call it pizza/a pizza

they call it 'za tho

Because different countries use different words for different things, and America has lots of different things and lots of regional dialects, pronunciations, and vernaculars.

But you already knew that...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_tomato_pie

this basically

Why not? It's basically a pie.

Pic related, my favorite pizza pie, Chicago style

Fresh from the oven, OOOOOOOHHHHHH

>they call it 'za tho

Who the fuck calls it that? Some kind of Socal faggot?

Because it's technically a pie. Also, it's just a shorthand way of referring to pizza.

I'm originally from Chicago and the only thing we call pizza is "pizza."

However when referring to one singular pizza you can call it a "pizza pie." Not just a "pie." I've never heard anyone actually do this in real life though.

Well, you are from a city that calls a tomato casserole a "pizza" so your input is invalid.

In most parts of the states you'd probably get your teeth kicked in for saying 'za

you live in chicago lol you have no idea what americans call things.

>oh yeah anthony's? best pie in town

not at all an uncommon thing to hear in america. (I've lived in many different places.)

So does your mom's vaginal cavity and we don't call that a pie.

...

I live in Tokyo

.. I guess that doesn't really back my case though

Are you serious? It's been a euphemism for pussy since forever.

Only in Chicago

>YES I AM AN AMERICAN TOO FELLOW AMERICANS HOW WOULD YOU LIKE SOME "PIE"

This is like how british people believe americans call toilets "the john".

Unless you're in the new york metropolitan area and talking to a 70 year old man, nobody talks like this.

looks delicious senpai
>mfw the only people that argue about "chicago vs NY style" pizza and which is "real pizza" are the same as picky eaters and can't accept food outside of their narrow mindset
being a whore for semantics is boring af desu

It's flatbread with toppings
Pie uses pastry, not bread, is never flat, and usually has pastry over the top

Why do Americans have such problems with categorising things correctly?

>le language is static meemee =^)

>americans
Nah, just New Yorkers/Italians because they're brain-damaged and proud of it for some reason. They also go out of their way to call tomato sauce "gravy" and pizza cheese "mutza dell"
