You posted it.

That's good to hear. I was expecting the first post to shit on me.

The Lion King.

Throne of Blood too

My mother says Ran means chaos in japanese.

It can mean a variety of things, but 'chaos' is among them, to be certain.

Has he done any other shakespeare's adaptations besides Throne of Blood and Ran? I've only seen Ran. I'm sure there are more though.

That's all he did for Shakespeare, but there's also this:

The Woman In The Dunes.

I have a copy of the French GĂ©rard Depardieu Count of Monte Cristo to watch, is it any good?

Joseph Conrad is pulp fic, barely more sophisticated than James M. Cain

Yeah ok dude

lord of the rings trilogy

I couldn't make it through this film. And King Lear is one of my favourite pieces of /lit. It was too boring mang. Before you call me a pleb, I think Tokyo Story was a sublime masterpiece.

Fitting for a shit movie

I'd have to agree user. My favourite as well.

OP's choice is solid.

Other good picks:

The Trial
Barry Lyndon
Prospero's Books

Bad sleep well was an adaption of hamlet

O Brother Where Art Thou

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is on par with the book thanks to thpse narrations w/full, unaltered quotes

Blade Runner
A Clockwork Orange

:^)

both film adaptations of Brighton Rock are pretty good.

neither is 100% true to the book but they do keep the essential plot. the 1947 one is closer to the atmosphere of the book. the 2010 one changes the story to the mod era which is a bit unnecessary but andy serkis and helen mirren are great in it.

Yeah, wanted to post this. Other worthwhile picks:

>Hard to be a God
>Stalker
>Akira (fite me)
>Pasolini's Veeky Forums trilogy

Heard good shit about Satantango but haven0t seen it so I really can't comment.

The Princess Bride is the only movie I've seen that surpasses the book it was based on.

heard you name was j.r.r. trollkien
brade runna

Early Summer and Late Spring are both superior to Tokyo Story you hapless pleb

The exorcist. Havent read the book

>Tokyo twilight isn't the best

Pleb

Satantango is better than the book. Kino could have very well ended with it desu.

yeah, Tokyo Twilight and Early Spring are probably better as well

eyes wide shut

that was the movie that made me stop being a marxist and start being a patrishist
