>posts entry level Ravel piece, claiming it's the best classical piece >thinks he's too good for /mu/ >doesn't post Shostakovich's 8th symphony or other sublime work
might as well have posted Clair de Lune, you pleb.
Robert Kelly
they are literally entry level because they are the most popular. Popular classical isn't like a popular movie. Only patricians listen to classical.
David Peterson
music taste is subjective
/thread
Lucas Nelson
>thinks he's better than /mu/ >makes a desperate, attention-seeking blog post topped off by a "You have 30 seconds to" meme
none of you /mu/ crossboarders are fooling anyone, btw. yes, everyone can see your illiteracy from a mile away. and yes, everyone is laughing at you.
Leo Ramirez
is classical the only music with merit?
the answer is yes. if you disagree I have a hipster music board to link you to
Christopher Cooper
>implying the music of Johann Sebastian Bach has no merit
Fuck off, pleb.
Hunter Parker
who cares if it's entry level. It's still an incredible piece. As is Clair de Lune
Carter Gomez
>Bach isn't classical
straight off the stupid train kid?
Connor Thompson
now he is trying to defend his entry level taste! how pathetic
Caleb Ramirez
>"You have 30 seconds to tell me why this isn't the most beautiful piece of music ever composed."
LOOKS LIKE YOU JUST ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION. IN THE FUTURE PLEASE REFRAIN FROM MAKING THESE FAGGY MEME THREADS FAGGOT
hell, even ravel's tzigane or tombeau de couperin is better than this.
Connor Evans
>a string piece >better then the piano
Easton Harris
He's baroque you dip
Jeremiah Hill
>thinking that the piano isn't still a stringed instrument what a pleb.
Brayden Hall
>impressionism >good You're the 16-year-old here.
Impressionism is the Dark Age of music, even later modernism is better.
Impressionism is pure sentimentalism and 'le emotional piano' bullshit seen in popular music.
Jason Barnes
go fuck yourself no offense though
Landon Bennett
you fucking disgusting newfaggot you probably think it's normal and cool to unironically use the pleb/patrician distinction. not only that but you took the first thing you got from youtube's classical suggested vids and try to talk about best of all time like a fucking child
you make me sick, go the fuck back to /mu/ you worthless newfaggot.
Grayson Price
blow me you nearsighted kike (no offense my main man)
James Gray
whoa, off the meds today are we faggot
Xavier Sullivan
>this is the board with the most patricians as well
should we tell him?
Brandon Hernandez
You have 30 seconds to tell me why this isn't the most sublime piece of music ever composed
Do I not have the greatest taste in the entire world? I know this isn't the right board, but everyone in my graduate composition school is a 16 yo pleb. This is the board with the most patricians as well
Jose Watson
shut the fuck up, don't imply you weren't using classical in the broad sense of "ohh classical music is the only real music fuck justin bieber and all modern trash"
if you wanted to distinguish eras you would have first categorized OP's piece
Don't fucking reply to me OP you trash
Ryan Myers
Roman Forum sure looks amazing in your pic, OP.
Cooper Gutierrez
that wasn't me you goddamn mongoloid classical is what illiterate morons use to refer to art music, thinking they are the same thing
He has no discipline as a studio musician, and treats it like his living room. You confuse his celebrity status with quality.
Luis Hughes
the new death grips album is objecively better than all this old pap.
music has moved on retards.
You're like the type of faggots who still ride a horse to get around instead of driving.
>le clip clop sound is le patrician XD XD >born in le wrong generation
kys immediately for the good of the world
Blake Ramirez
sounds like whining to me. i bet you're a failed musician jealous of pure talent.
Evan Barnes
>Only patricians listen to classical. that's patently false and the only people who think this are plebs who think they get a get out of pleb free card because they listened to Chopin once
Camden Clark
Project harder.
He has no talent, this is obvious to anybody with any education.
Joseph Gonzalez
i bet you think tolkien was a good author too, eh? god, the plebs are out in full force today.
Bentley James
Nope.
Stop projecting, dear.
Brandon Williams
you do realize that projection is not always replaceable for contempt, right? i am neither a failed musician, nor do i like tolkien, whereas instead i am accusing you of having poor taste. if one might use your poor argument against you, when you implied that people who found talent in glenn gould's work had no education, you were projecting. see how useless that proposition is?
Ryder Collins
You're a failure of a musician (by praising a hack) and enjoy the equivalents of Tolkien.
Juan Carter
Nope.
Stop projecting, dear.
Enjoying music does not make one a musician.
Evan Sanchez
OH MY GODD SHUT THE FUCK UP
Henry Williams
I did not call you a musician, I called you a failed musician.
Is English not your first language?
Zachary Davis
oh, i see, you're an idiot. carry on, friend.
Benjamin Johnson
>not liking tolkien well this is how I know you're both plebs.
Dylan Green
>Shostakovich >sublime in any way >not entry level
If your idea of sublime is using established elements of the Romantic idiom to achieve a predictable effect, then yeah. Shostakovich sure is great.
Beethoven is the greatest of all time and deserves the distinction. The only people who come close are Mozart and Bach.
Caleb Wright
>Beethoven is the greatest of all time and deserves the distinction. beethoven and mozart are shit
Bach is great
Kayden Powell
0/10
no one would ever consider rap as actual music
Dylan Stewart
Because the greatest work for keyboard (perhaps the greatest overall) is the Hammerklavier. The greatest short work for keyboard is a tough one. Perhaps Chopin's first ballad, if you can consider it short.
Matthew Ortiz
You trying to tell me Thelonius Monk and Charles Minus are without merit?
Luke Ross
Jazz isn't even music.
Zachary Reyes
why?
Grayson Perez
>le black people hooga booga bee bop doo wop
Gavin Rodriguez
That is very nice, reminded me to get more into Ravel, always like this by him, especially the first movement:
Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period - you horrendous fucking moron.
Aaron Price

Too carnal and ego-focused. Said every uneducated teenager that just discovered a new meme ever. Bach is baroque.
Hudson Adams
Classical music is a catch-all term for a certain stylistic and transcription-oriented musical tradition from Europe.
The Classical period is a time period in which composers had a particular shared tradition within classical music, ending around the time of Beethoven.
Bach was a Baroque composer of classical music. You're autistic.
Jack Cox
>Bach was a Baroque composer of classical music. That's an oxymoron.
Jaxon Morales
lel Classical music wasn't even used as a term until people wanted to complain about how "the new music" (read: Mahler) was destroying the tradition of the period from Bach to Beethoven. Classical music refers to both the specific period and the overall form. Deal with it.
Jayden Walker
Nice literature.
Jaxson Long
it looks better when it's drawn in the anime style
Evan Clark
So what music do you like anons?
Leo Allen
You're thinking of the common practice period. The classical period was roughly 1750 to 1820.
Mason Thompson
wow i didnt know ravel could play the btw
Camden Edwards

Man this thread To answer your question, OP, while it is a beautiful piece, I'm quite a fan of simplicity and just longing beautiful phrases, it is in fact Debussy's "La Damoiselle Elue" that is the most beautiful piece composed. That or his Pritemps. Listen and know the truth.
Am I pleb if I think the main themes of the first and third movement of this quartet are some of the most beautiful? I still haven't found anything that moves me in quite the same way as this quartet.
