You could have bought a packet of noodles, some fresh veg (tomatoes, zucchini, onions) and dried beans for the same monetary value. I find it hard to imagine that you would have had fewer meals out of that option compared to the option you took.

I could be wrong, I'm not where you are. Still, everywhere I've lived, from Arkansas to Indiana to London, it was always cheaper to buy base ingredients and spend the time cooking them rather than buying "prepared" or half prepared food.

I think you misjudged your food stocks this year.

Canned beans are pretty low in lectins because of the canning process, but the jury seems out on fresh beans. I'm kinda hesitant about food which can just outright kill you raw.
